  As it must be. The Constitution is largely concerned with safeguarding (the already established notion) that liberty and rights are imbued into the individual by the creator as well as protecting the sovereign individual from the encroachments of a federal government. How then could these progressives claim they've the right to grant (and more importantly prohibit) rights by fiat if the government is in fact not their genesis? They cant. And so they fall back into their tried and true position as fascists . . . you know the fellows who believe that all rights are of the collective and by virtue of the existence of the state. The same fellows who exercise their control over an ever diminishing individual and the economy not from the bottom up (at least not at first) but rather nationalizing whole industries and becoming their de facto CEO's.

• Thallus: An excellent and well reasoned post. To echo a point you made, the Constitution is irrelevent to the modern progressives. We, as a people need to start electing strict constuctionists to public office, and this begins at the very lowest levels of government- city, town etc. I also wonder where the legal challenges are to the perverted role of the president? A portion of the electorate voted for a president, not a reincarnation of Mussolini.

• A growing percentage of the people are concerned where this administration is leading the country. They are concerned about the mounting national debt. They are increasingly concerned about this administration essentially condemning our progeny to forced federal servitude to pay for not only an increasing national debt, but the ever-increasing cost of social security and other “entitlements”. A ridicules notion you say? Who will be forced, under pain of incarceration, to devote more and more of their life working to pay for the excesses of prior administrations and the mounting excesses of the present one? Just for fun, grab your dictionary and look up the definition for “subjugation”.
  There is also mounting concern the federal government is operating outside its constitutional limits. Where in the constitution does it give any branch of the federal government authority to bail out corporations or take over private companies? Where in the constitution does it give the authority to fire CEO’s of a corporation or set salary and bonus limits? Where in the constitution does it give the federal government authority to take over 1/6th of the United States economy under the guise of national health care, or as they like to call it now, health insurance reform? The short answer is “nowhere”.
  After all the bickering, race baiting, name calling, posturing and elitist tripe, the argument against this administration and the federal government in general can be summed up thusly: Freedom is a zero-sum game and represents a balance of power that heavily favors the People. As power is usurped by the federal government the balance shifts in its favor. An increase in government power necessarily represents a decrease in personal freedom, and the point where the federal government has all the power is the point where the People have none. The rate at which the federal government is usurping power is accelerating. Do the math and if you haven’t already, look up the definition of “subjugation”.
  Make no mistake. The federal government should fear the People. It doesn’t. In fact, the present administration mocks the People as it runs roughshod over the document that limits its power. Whether you are liberal, conservative, libertarian, independent, green, ignorant or just plain stupid, this is something that should concern you and every other Citizen of this country.
