Howard Stern jilting satellite, returning to “real” radio?

howard_sternWhen Howard Stern left terrestrial radio for the world of satellites, he was replaced by three different regional hosts. Two of them went down in flames almost immediately, but CBS Radio had high hopes for the third, comedian Adam Carolla.

Had. As in past tense. Formerly. No more.

AllAccess.com, a popular radio news site, reports that affiliates have been notified that Friday will be Carolla’s last day at CBS Radio.

“Yes, there will be a large announcement, Carolla said. “We will do that tomorrow or later today. We’ll play it by ear. You will find me via the webcast. So all you junkies can get a little hit of the Ace Man methadone.”

Rumors have been floating around the radio industry that CBS wants to kiss and make up with Howard Stern, lure him away from the failing satellite radio experiment, and back to “real” radio.

No matter what happens to Stern, we wish good luck to Carolla. We enjoyed his neurotic ramblings.

Obama gives Wall Street a tongue-lashing. Barney Frank jealous?

obama_madBarack Obama is a man of the people. You can tell because CBS news said so. Here’s how they reported Obama’s angry reaction to big bonuses on Wall Street.

“For a man who prides himself on being cool,” said Early Show correspondent Jeff Glor, “this was a rare flash of anger, if planned. A tongue-lashing directly from the Oval Office, which is indicating now they will look to change the rules if Wall Street doesn’t itself.”

“…firms gave out $18.4 billion in bonuses to New York-based employees last year the same year the Dow Jones caved in 33%,” Glor continued. “And yes, a lot of the bonus money came from T.A.R.P. government bailout funds, taxpayer dollars.”

When reporters asked Barney Frank what he thought of Obama’s tongue-lashing, he responded with a far away, dreamy look and mumbled something that sounded like, “Be still, my heart.”

TV triplets bid $2,000,000 for octuplet story

Yes, we hate the media. With a passion. And this story demonstrates why.

Television’s talk triplets — Oprah Winfrey, ABC’s Diane Sawyer, and CBS’ Katie Couric — are reportedly involved in fierce negotiations for the first interview with Nadya Suleman. Her price tag is reportedly $2 million.

Of course, Suleman’s the wacky 33-year old California woman who recently gave birth to octuplets and is now the mother of 14 children under the age of 8.

No further comment necessary.

Katie Couric screws Matt Lauer

katie couric grimmaceCBS news anchor Katie Couric not only scored the first interview with the pilot who brought his airliner down in the Hudson River, but snatched it away from her former “Today” show co-host Matt Lauer.

Lauer had been promised the first interview. Then pilot “Sully” Sullenberger was asked to delay interviews until after the investigation of U.S. Airways Flight 1549’s water landing was completed.

“What Captain Sullenberger did in the cockpit on Flight 1549 was heroic and admirable,” said an NBC News mouthpiece. “Unfortunately, people close to him have not acted nearly as admirably over the past few days. They gave us their word, and then broke their commitment.”

When told of the Couric’s scoop, ABC’s aged Barbara Walters reportedly said, “You call that a scoop? I’m interviewing Sylvester Stallone this week. I’m asking the tough questions like , ‘If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?’”
