Desperate Democrat sends out campaign email saying is opponent is worse than a rat

Jim Carville sent out a fundraising e-mail for Missouri Senate candidate Robin Carnahan (D), in which he offered reasons for why Roy Blunt is the wrong choice as the next Missouri senator.

Democrats see the Missouri senate race slipping away, so they brought in James Carville to rescue their candidate. That may have been a mistake.

"I'm Robin Carnahan and my opponent is worse than a rat. So is my consultant."

The Hill reports Carville’s contribution:

Democratic strategist James Carville said he would rather have a rat for a senator than Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.).

Carville sent out a fundraising e-mail for Missouri Senate candidate Robin Carnahan (D), in which he offered reasons for why Blunt is the wrong choice as the next Missouri senator.

“In my years working in politics, I’ve seen things that really made me angry, but the level of misdirection and the outright lies perpetrated by Congressman Blunt’s campaign and his fat cat buddies are enough to make me start spluttering,” said Carville.

He wrote: “If I had to pick either the rat or Congressman Blunt to represent me in the US Senate, I’d take the rat seven days a week and twice on Sunday.”

And since he’s a Democrat, he’d also have the rat vote several times on Tuesday.

Republicans are running against Obama, Democrats are running from him

Roy Blunt, Republican candidate for Senator in Missouri, has officially produced the season’s first campaign commercial that links his opponent to Obama.

Roy Blunt, Republican candidate for Senator in Missouri, has officially produced the season’s first campaign commercial that links his opponent to Obama.

“Missourians have a clear choice in this election,” it says. “If they want a
rubberstamp for the liberal policies of Nancy Pelosi, Harry
Reid and Barack Obama, they should support Robin Carnahan. But if
they want someone who will fight for Missouri families and jobs, they
ought to support Roy Blunt.”

And then there’s this little gem from the Austin Statesman:

As I reported last night on the Postcards blog, Democratic sources say President Barack Obama will be in Austin and Houston on Aug. 9 for a pair of fundraisers. And Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White doesn’t plan to be there.

Said White spokeswoman Katy Bacon, “That week is jam packed, and he’s not scheduled to be in Houston or Austin at all except for the night of the 12th. In August, Bill will be talking with Texans about the future of our state, laying out his plans for the same.”

The president’s approval numbers aren’t good in Texas, and Gov. Rick Perry has repeatedly sought to link Obama and White.

“Just too darn busy to appear with Obama. Other things to do. Schedule’s packed. The family’s in town. Oh, I thought he was coming in the following weekend. Schedule mix-up. The dog ate my homework.”

What a difference two years makes.
