Republicans are running against Obama, Democrats are running from him

Roy Blunt, Republican candidate for Senator in Missouri, has officially produced the season’s first campaign commercial that links his opponent to Obama.

Roy Blunt, Republican candidate for Senator in Missouri, has officially produced the season’s first campaign commercial that links his opponent to Obama.

“Missourians have a clear choice in this election,” it says. “If they want a
rubberstamp for the liberal policies of Nancy Pelosi, Harry
Reid and Barack Obama, they should support Robin Carnahan. But if
they want someone who will fight for Missouri families and jobs, they
ought to support Roy Blunt.”

And then there’s this little gem from the Austin Statesman:

As I reported last night on the Postcards blog, Democratic sources say President Barack Obama will be in Austin and Houston on Aug. 9 for a pair of fundraisers. And Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White doesn’t plan to be there.

Said White spokeswoman Katy Bacon, “That week is jam packed, and he’s not scheduled to be in Houston or Austin at all except for the night of the 12th. In August, Bill will be talking with Texans about the future of our state, laying out his plans for the same.”

The president’s approval numbers aren’t good in Texas, and Gov. Rick Perry has repeatedly sought to link Obama and White.

“Just too darn busy to appear with Obama. Other things to do. Schedule’s packed. The family’s in town. Oh, I thought he was coming in the following weekend. Schedule mix-up. The dog ate my homework.”

What a difference two years makes.
