Republicans are running against Obama, Democrats are running from him

Roy Blunt, Republican candidate for Senator in Missouri, has officially produced the season’s first campaign commercial that links his opponent to Obama.

Roy Blunt, Republican candidate for Senator in Missouri, has officially produced the season’s first campaign commercial that links his opponent to Obama.

“Missourians have a clear choice in this election,” it says. “If they want a
rubberstamp for the liberal policies of Nancy Pelosi, Harry
Reid and Barack Obama, they should support Robin Carnahan. But if
they want someone who will fight for Missouri families and jobs, they
ought to support Roy Blunt.”

And then there’s this little gem from the Austin Statesman:

As I reported last night on the Postcards blog, Democratic sources say President Barack Obama will be in Austin and Houston on Aug. 9 for a pair of fundraisers. And Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White doesn’t plan to be there.

Said White spokeswoman Katy Bacon, “That week is jam packed, and he’s not scheduled to be in Houston or Austin at all except for the night of the 12th. In August, Bill will be talking with Texans about the future of our state, laying out his plans for the same.”

The president’s approval numbers aren’t good in Texas, and Gov. Rick Perry has repeatedly sought to link Obama and White.

“Just too darn busy to appear with Obama. Other things to do. Schedule’s packed. The family’s in town. Oh, I thought he was coming in the following weekend. Schedule mix-up. The dog ate my homework.”

What a difference two years makes.

The two most valuable words ever spoken

You undoubtedly remember that moment when South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson hollered “You lie” during President Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress. Wilson has become one of the country’s most popular politicians since that outburst.

joe-wilson You undoubtedly remember that moment when South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson hollered “You lie” during President Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress.

Wilson has become one of the country’s most popular politicians since that outburst. Democrats may not have liked it, but Republicans did. In fact, $2.7 million has flooded into his campaign coffers since that infamous moment.

Based on this development, look for Harry Reid to start screaming during Obama’s next speech.

Rat deserting sinking ship: Why is the Secretary of State building her campaign fund?

Hillary Clinton’s massive campaign debt has quietly been paid off. And now she’s stockpiling cash. In fact, the former presidential candidate has socked away $3,000,000 in her campaign fund.

When the U.S.S. Obama goes down, Hillary Clinton will already be ashore, basking in the sunshine and ready to run

Hillary Clinton’s massive campaign debt has quietly been paid off. And now she’s stockpiling cash. In fact, the former presidential candidate has socked away $3,000,000 in her campaign fund.

Wait a sec. Did we say campaign fund?

The Secretary of State, who supposedly left politics behind when President Obama made her the nation’s top diplomat, said, “I’m now out of politics” and that future political office “is not anything that is at all on my radar screen.”

However, in addition to stockpiling cash, Hillary still has eight people working on her “former” campaign.

It may just be that Hillary reads the polls and is beginning to think we may be in the middle of a one-term presidency

Where’s that damn button? Hillary wants to reset America’s relationship with Barack Obama.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. accused of misusing campaign funds, Jesse Sr. bursting with pride

Jesse Jackson, Sr congratulates his son for expanding the family business
Jesse Jackson, Sr congratulates his son for expanding the family business

Imagine how proud you must be when the son you love chooses to follow in your footsteps. That’s the warm glow race-grifter Jesse Jackson is feeling right now.

Federal election records show that his son, Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., paid his wife at least $247,500 out of campaign funds since 2001. That includes at least $95,000 after the lovely and effervescent Sandra Jackson was elected to the Chicago City Council two years ago. She received the $95,000 for “political consulting.” Of course, this happened after she pledged during to give “my full attention” to her city council job.

But following in the Jackson family tradition, Junior’s fiduciary fiddling was far from finished.

His committee directed another $298,927 in cash and in-kind contributions to the missus’ campaign fund. That helped finance her city council campaign. Her salary for that plum job is more than $100,000 per year.

The odds of being honest were stacked against this kid. After all, his father is Jesse Jackson, Sr., he’s a Democrat, and he lives in Illinois.

Strike three.

Ahmadinejad adopts Obama’s “Yes We Can” campaign slogan

Pixie-ish Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad leads supporters in a "Yes We Can" chant
Pixie-ish Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad leads supporters in a "Yes We Can" chant

You can’t make this stuff up. Drudge reports that Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has decided to use Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can” slogan in his next presidential campaign.

Who knew Ahmadinejad was such a big fan of American political campaigns?

IHateTheMedia.com has discovered that Ahmadinejad’s campaign staff also looked into adapting slogans from several other American presidential campaigns before going with “Yes We Can.”

They considered using George Bush’s “Compassionate Conservatism” but thought the compassionate part might be a tough sell.

They thought about adapting Bill Clinton’s slogan but finally decided that “Building a bridge to the 13th century” wasn’t quite as catchy as “Building a bridge to the 21st century.”

Ronald Reagan said, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” Ahmadinejad discovered that “Are you better off now than you were four hundred years ago?” didn’t test well in focus groups.

In 1960 Barry Goldwater’s slogan was “In Your Heart You Know He’s Right.” Ahmadinejad decided that “In Your Heart You Know He’s Nuts” was just too damn honest.

In the end, Ahmadinejad decided he wanted to be just like Obama so they went with the popular “Yes We Can.”

In other news, the Iranian leader announced that if Iran ever developed an auto industry, he would immediately nationalize it.

“PROMISES, PROMISES:
Obama tax pledge up in smoke”

A salute to the new cigarette tax.
A salute to the new cigarette tax.
That’s the headline the normally-reliable Associated Press used in an article yesterday as it turned on President Obama and bared its yellowed smokers’ fangs.

One of President Barack Obama’s campaign pledges on taxes went up in puffs of smoke Wednesday.

The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama’s promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000.

This is one tax that disproportionately affects the poor, who are more likely to smoke than the rich.

To be sure, Obama’s tax promises in last year’s campaign were most often made in the context of income taxes. Not always.

“I can make a firm pledge,” he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”

He repeatedly vowed “You will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime.”

Now in office, Obama, who stopped smoking but has admitted he slips now and then, signed a law raising the tobacco tax nearly 62 cents on a pack of cigarettes, to $1.01. Other tobacco products saw similarly steep increases.

The AP story continued:

“Listen now,” he said in his widely watched nomination acceptance speech, “I will cut taxes—cut taxes—for 95 percent of all working families, because, in an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class.”

An unequivocal “any tax” pledge also was heard in the vice presidential debate, another prominent forum.

“No one making less than $250,000 under Barack Obama’s plan will see one single penny of their tax raised,” Joe Biden said, “whether it’s their capital gains tax, their income tax, investment tax, any tax.”

An observation: A smokers tax could prove very costly to a party whose entire platform is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

National Enquirer says grand jury investigating John Edwards’ misuse of campaign funds

A federal grand jury is looking into misuse of campaign funds by former presidential candidate John “Baby Daddy” Edwards. The North Carolina scam artist allegedly used the money to pay off the mother of his love child. Attorneys will neither confirm nor deny the grand jury investigation.

We know, we know. It’s the Enquirer and you don’t want to believe a word they say. But they were the people who broke this story and hung onto it like a bulldog to a bone.

To review:

Last summer, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER caught Edwards visiting his mistress Rielle Hunter in the Beverly Hills Hilton. After vigorously denying the affair for months, Edwards admitted the affair on national television in August after the ENQUIRER published spy photos of Edwards holding his love child earlier that week.

Edwards has also denied paying either campaign staffer Andrew Young, who claims to be the child’s father or Rielle Hunter, his admitted mistress, any funds from the campaign war chest. Fred Baron, a longtime Edwards supporter, claimed to have provided the hush money. Baron died last fall.

IHateTheMedia.com will neither confirm nor deny that we always thought Edwards was a pathetic poltroon, a bloodsucking parasite, a prating coxcomb, a puny whipster, a canker on society, a carnal cur, a cream-faced loon, a decayed dotant, a jackanapes with scarves.

Thanks to the William-Shakespeare.org “Shakespeare Insult Generator” for their assistance with this story.

UPDATE: Andres Young now says there is a John Edwards and Rielle Hunter sex tape

NY Times buries story that could have buried Obama

The New York Times is making headlines for ignoring news that could have damaged Barack Obama, who as you may have noticed, is a Democrat.

According to the Bulletin, “A lawyer involved with legal action against Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) told a House Judiciary subcommittee on March 19 The New York Times had killed a story in October that would have shown a close link between ACORN, Project Vote and the Obama campaign because it would have been a ‘a game changer.’”

An informant had been providing inside information to The Unofficial Democratic Mouthpiece about ACORN’s election activities and several stories had been written. The articles abruptly stopped when it was revealed that the Obama presidential campaign had sent its maxed-out donor list to ACORN’s Washington, D.C. office as a way to “reach out to the maxed-out donors and solicit donations from them for Get Out the Vote efforts to be run by ACORN.”

In what may have been a rare moment of candor, The Times reporter actually told the informant that editors wanted to kill the story because “it was a game changer.”’

Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wisc.) said the footsie-playing between Obama and ACORN could be a violation of federal election law.

The Times’ Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications, Catherine Mathis, stated in an email, “political considerations played no role in our decisions about how to cover this story or any other story about President Obama.”

Take that for what it’s worth. After all, it comes from the New York Times.

“Hillary: The Movie” – Will the Supreme Court give it thumbs up or thumbs down?

The Supreme Court has agreed to review a case involving “Hillary: The Movie.”

“The outcome of this case,” producer David Bossie said, “will dictate how we’re able to make films and educate people about them.”

Bossie’s movie was released while Hillary Clinton was running for the Democratic presidential nomination. He wanted to run TV commercials in key states during the primaries and show the movie on cable TV. But federal courts said no and said “Hillary: The Movie” violated campaign finance regulations because it was nothing more than an attack ad.

Bossie’s group, Citizens United, appealed to the Supreme Court, saying the film is a documentary comparable to TV news programs such as “60 Minutes.”

This could wreak havoc on President Obama’s stimulus plan. Sure, there’s plenty of money to bail out the banks, no one can afford nine tickets to the movies these days.

Tonya Harding attacks Barack Obama

First Barack Obama defeated Hillary Clinton. Then he whipped John McCain. But now he may have met his match.

Tonya Harding is mad at the president. Plenty mad. And we’d rather face a rabid pit bull than that angry little she-devil.

During a campaign stop last summer, Obama ad libbed something about “pulling a Tonya Harding” on his opponents. Tonya heard about it. Tonya didn’t like it. Tonya is pissed.

No word yet on Obama’s reaction, but we can guess what Bill Clinton would say.

“Back off, Barack. I already called dibs on trailer park trash.”
