The story of the Lone Marine: These guys are made of something tougher than the rest of us

For the last few years, one Marine in full dress uniform has stood at attention in the middle of the street holding a continuous, unbroken salute for every biker in the procession.

There’s an annual event in Washington, DC called Rolling Thunder Sunday in which thousands of vets ride their motorcycles to the Vietnam Memorial. It’s an incredible display of patriotism and comradeship — the kind of thing you’d expect from guys who were willing to risk their lives for the rest of us.

We salute retired Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers

For the last few years, one Marine in full dress uniform has stood at attention in the middle of the street holding a continuous, unbroken salute for every biker in the procession. His remarkable exhibition of strength and dedication lasts more than four hours.

Back in 2002 retired Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers decided he wanted to do something to show all the other vets how much he cared, so he spontaneously stepped into the road to salute to the riders. That first salute has now become an annual event.

Why the salute? “It’s about the pain,” Tim said. “A lot of these heroic guys still hurt and if I can relieve their pain for just one brief moment, then I’ve done my job.”

This year’s salute was more painful than usual. Watch the video. Be amazed. Be proud. And be grateful that there are guys like Tim Chambers who are willing and able to do the things they do.

Semper fi, Sergeant Chambers.

Obama the Warrior showed “as much courage as our Navy SEALs”

The media has moved into full Obama hype and hyperbole. America’s most effeminate Commander In Chief is now being touted as a cross between General Patton and Chuck Norris.

The media has moved into full Obama hype and hyperbole. America’s most effeminate Commander In Chief is now being touted as a cross between General Patton and Chuck Norris.

Of course, we have to depend on a foreign newspaper like the Telegraph UK to point out the latest ludicrous comment:

Brave Barack the Ninja Warrior leaped from a burning helicopter, battled a great white shark and then skateboarded in to kill Osama Bin Laden in fierce hand-to-hand combat

There’s been a fair amount of — how shall I put it? — sucking up to President Barack Obama over the past week for his decision to send in the US Navy SEALs to kill Osama bin Laden. Certainly, it was a bold gamble that paid off richly and if it hadn’t it could have crippled his presidency. . . .

But the top prize for the most sycophancy towards Obama this week surely has to be awarded to Wendy Chamberlain, Middle East Institute president and former US ambassador to Pakistan, who had this to say on CNN:

But he made that decision to go without telling Pakistan and that took some real courage, as much courage as our Navy SEALs did in pulling off a near flawless operation.

Hmm. Think about that. Deciding not to tell the Pakistanis makes Obama as brave as one of the SEALs on the Geronimo mission? As brave as a man who rappels down a rope from a Black Hawk into a compound deep in Pakistan at the dead of night knowing that it is the hideout of a mass murderer who happens to be the world’s most wanted terrorist?

Well, maybe not that brave. But definitely brave enough to go on TV and claim credit for it.

Listen for the word “rifle,” watch the van down the street, say “Adios, Akbar”

A marine unit got pinned down in the street in Tal Afa, west of Mosul in Iraq. They had a video camera mounted on the bumper of their armored HUM-V. The bad guys are hiding behind the white van parked just down the street.

Call us gruesome (you’ve called us worse), but this is one amazing video.

The background: A marine unit got pinned down in the street in Tal Afa, west of Mosul in Iraq. They had a video camera mounted on the bumper of their armored HUM-V. The bad guys are hiding behind the white van parked just down the street. Be aware that every time you hear a ping, it’s the sound of a bad guy’s bullet hitting the HUM-V.

Keep your eyes on the van when the Marine says they just fired the “rifle.” That’s military slang meaning an F-16 aircraft just launched a Maverick missile. You’ll hear the Maverick coming in and a split second later, see it send the bad guys off to meet their virgins.

End of story. For the bad guys, that is.

(We’ve watched this thing about a dozen times. Watch closely and you’ll see something fly up out of the frame after the explosion and fall back through the left side of the frame just before the end of the video. Is that Akbar?)

Hard-ass U.S. Marine cries during 21-gun salute to Ronald Reagan

U.S. Marines pride themselves on being the toughest sons a bitches in the world. That’s what made it even more touching when tears started rolling down the cheek of one female Marine during the 21-gun salute to Ronald Reagan during his 100th birthday tribute.

Stark contrast between Obama’s reaction to deaths of abortion doctor and U.S. Marine

The two sides of Barack Obama
The two sides of Barack Obama

The obvious difference between President Obama’s reaction to two recent murders pretty much tells you all you need to know.

When a late-term abortion doctor was gunned down on May 31, Obama rushed out this statement within hours:

“I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.”

But when two U.S. Marines were gunned down on June 1, it took the President three days to issue this statement:

“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”

When the victim is an abortion doctor, Obama is immediately shocked and outraged. When the victim is a U.S. Marine, Obama is merely saddened. And not for three days.

Any questions?

Homeowners association declares war on ex-Marine over military decals on car

A Dallas HOA has ordered a disabled Vietnam vet to remove seven Marine Corps decals from his car, including the Marine emblem and Semper Fi slogans.

“To me, it’s being patriotic, and it shows that I served,” Frank Larison said.

The board says the decals are ads and violate HOA rules and must be covered or removed. If he doesn’t comply, the HOA says it will tow the car at Larimore’s expense and fine him $50 for any future incident.

Larison seems to have a lot of allies in the neighborhood.

“That is his identity,” Mary Castagna piped in. “He goes to a lot of the veteran meetings, and it means a lot to him. Everyone else agrees with it; it doesn’t bother anybody.”

“He’s in the Marines, and he’s proud of it, and I don’t blame him,” neighbor Paul Hardy commented. “If I’d gone through what he’s gone through, I’d be kind of proud of it myself.”

The complaint was delivered in a letter. Probably because the HOA board was afraid to say something this stupid to a former Marine in person.

Marines tortured Saddam, made him watch South Park episode in which he was Satan’s gay boyfriend

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWoXGpV38Hw WARNING: DO NOT WATCH THIS “SOUTH PARK” CLIP IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED

While Saddam Hussein was being held by U.S. Marines, he was forced to watch the movie “South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut.” Repeatedly. To make it even funnier, the animated feature shows Saddam as Satan’s gay boyfriend.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of the animated series and film, were thrilled that Saddam’s guards gave them the photo.

“We’re very proud of our signed Saddam picture and what it means,” Stone said. “It’s one of our biggest highlights.”

“I have it on pretty good information from the Marines on detail in Iraq that they showed Saddam the movie,” he laughed. “Over and over again – which is a pretty funny thought.”

Are tasteless cartoons a violation of the Geneva Convention? Tough luck.
