Chief Justice John Roberts on Tuesday confirmed the authenticity of a leaked draft opinion suggesting the Supreme Court may be be poised to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion nationwide. He ordered an investigation into what he called an “egregious breach of trust.”

In the high court’s first public comment since the draft was published late Tuesday, Roberts said “Although the document described in yesterday’s reports is authentic, it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.”

In a statement, he said, “To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed.”

He added: “I have directed the Marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the source of the leak.”

Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.

“Planned Parenthood’s reprehensible conduct, captured in undercover videos, proves that it is not a ‘qualified’ provider under the Medicaid Act, so we are confident we will ultimately prevail,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement after Thursday’s ruling.

…The Issues4Life Foundation and The Radiance Foundation have launched a pro-life billboard campaign with the goal of saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of black babies aborted in America each year.

“The impact of abortion in the black community is the Darfur of America,” Walter B. Hoye II, president of the Issues4Life Foundation, told Life Site News.

The signs in question contain the message “Black & Beautiful” and are going up in largely black communities in Oakland, Calif.

Statistics show that black women are three times more likely to have abortions as the general population. So it would seem to be a good idea to run the ads in black neighborhoods. But, no, attempting to save the lives of black babies is – you guessed it – racist.

… Planned Parenthood and California pro-choice groups are calling the ads racist. They say the “black & beautiful” slogan is too close to the “black is beautiful” cultural-pride campaign made popular in the 1960s.

Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., has also spoken out against the billboards.

“I am deeply offended by the race-based billboards that are being displayed in my congressional district by the Radiance Foundation and Issues4life,” she said in a statement.

“These billboards stigmatize women of color and perpetuate myths about parenting skills and the types of women who seek and use abortion services,” Lee added.

You know the race mongers have truly jumped the shark when attempting to save the lives of black babies is called racism.

And in the case of Barbara Lee, it’s just too bad that retroactive abortion isn’t legal.

After kicking around other labels for Pro-Life like “Those anti-abortion bastards”, NPR settled on “Abortion rights supporter(s) or advocate(s)” and “abortion rights opponent(s)”. NPR really likes this term because “rights opponent(s)” sounds a lot more nefarious than “pro-life”.

Allred claims that the Focus on the Family ad, which features Florida University football star Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam, is “misleading” even though she hasn’t seen it.

The ad reportedly will tell the story of how Pam Tebow decided not to abort Tim even though doctors told her the pregnancy could endanger her life. Allred is threatening to file complaints with the FCC and FTC if the ad airs but does not mention her allegation that aborting the pregnancy at the time in the Philippines would have been a crime.

Kelly poked holes in Allred’s take on the ad throughout the video. She asked whether Allred believes a woman’s right to choose extends to choosing life, why she would object to someone airing an ad with a religious message, and why abortion advocates don’t air a competing ad if they are so bothered by the Tebows’ message.

“As you know, that’s the bedrock of the First Amendment,” Kelly said. “The answer to speech you don’t like is not less speech; it’s more speech.”
But the highlight of the segment comes at about the 4:30 mark. Allred ridiculously in effect argued that if Focus on the Family insists on airing an advocacy ad during a sports event, it should be compelled to air the equivalent of a mini-documentary explaining Philippines law.

Kelly’s response: “No ad can tell the entire story about the law as it stands in the Philippines. … It’s just a practical impossibility, Gloria, which would lead many to say that this is a PR stunt by you.”

A word of warning: Never stand between publicity whore Gloria Allred and a TV camera. She will knock down you, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and her own mother to be seen on television.

When asked to comment on this report, Dr. Freda Bush, a black, pro-life obstetrician and gynecologist said, “I would like for them to explain why there’s such a significant proportion of their (Planned Parenthood) clinics that are located in minority communities.

White Liberals respond, “We like black people. We just don’t like so many of them.”

The response of Congressional Black Caucus, NAACP, Urban League, and the National Action Committee of Al Sharpton was a collective, “We’ve got our piece of the pie, why should we share it?”

Stark contrast between Obama’s reaction to deaths of abortion doctor and U.S. Marine

The obvious difference between President Obama’s reaction to two recent murders pretty much tells you all you need to know.

When a late-term abortion doctor was gunned down on May 31, Obama rushed out this statement within hours:

“I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.”

But when two U.S. Marines were gunned down on June 1, it took the President three days to issue this statement:

“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”

When the victim is an abortion doctor, Obama is immediately shocked and outraged. When the victim is a U.S. Marine, Obama is merely saddened. And not for three days.

We signed up for the Huffington Post’s Daily Briefs email list a few months ago. To the best of our recollection, while we receive their Daily Briefs, we’ve never received an “Alert” until May 31, when we received this one:

Oddly enough, no such email alert was sent out the next day for this similar story:

It struck us as rather selective outrage, but we wanted to be certain before we made any wild, unsubstantiated accusations. So we went to HuffingtonPost.com and used its search function to compare the number of stories on the two murders. There were a least a hundred hits for stories referencing George Tiller’s murder. We say at least, because we stopped counting at that point as the list just kept going and going and going. We have no idea how many more there were.

Then we did another search to see how many references we could find on the Arkansas recruiter murder. Eight. That’s all. Eight. And no, we didn’t search for very specific words like “Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad” or “Carlos Bledsoe.” We erred on the side of caution and performed very loose searches.

While it’s not an exact science, the results were clear: Far more than a hundred Tiller references, but just eight on the Arkansas recruiter (let’s give the poor, ignored guy a name–William Long) murder.

For further study, we then went to Google and did an advanced “site search” where you can search for words found on just a particular site, posted within a specified date range, and various other boolean search criteria. We searched just the HuffingtonPost.com website. The closest date range we could use was “past week.” Close enough.

The results were startling, but we’re not going to publish them because there are too many variables that can get called into question with the search terms. But we ask you to do to your own searches: go to Google, click on Advanced Search, enter “HuffingtonPost.com” into the search site field, set the date range, and try some of your own searches. Remember if you are putting two words together like William Long, they have to be keyed as “William Long” or it will search for William OR long, which will skew the results. Let us know what you find out.

But we did do two simple searches we will tell you about. We simply searched the the Huffingtonpost.com site for “George Tiller” and then for “William Long.” The results were 12,900 pages for George Tiller, but just 6 for William Long.

We understand the George Tiller was more well known than William Long, but Good God, can we honor Private Long just a bit more?

Our conclusion? Huffington Post has a genetic predisposition against the pro-life position. But they seem to have an equally strong pre-dispositon to ignore news that casts Muslims in a negative light.

Turner appeared on Diane Rehm’s show and during a conversation on population control, Turner said the following, “We do have the example of China, and they’ve done it without, uh, draconian, as far as I can see, draconian steps.”

We would have said forced abortions fall into the “draconian” category, but it looks like we were wrong.

Turner quickly admitted that he didn’t know what he was talking about, which is something we’ve been waiting to hear for nearly 30 years.

Talk about wanting to be a fly on the wall. Wouldn’t you have loved to listen in on the dinner conversations Turner had with Jane Fonda when they were married?

Here’s another reason we hate the media.

This YouTube video has been viewed by nearly 265,000 people since February 3, 2009. Yet according to a Google News Search, the story’s been covered by just one newspaper.

Lia, a 12-year-old Toronto girl, has become an internet sensation since her mom posted this video. It shows Lia delivering a five-minute pro-life speech in a school competition.

Before the competition began, she was told she wouldn’t be allowed to compete unless she changed the topic of her speech. Despite hostility from the judges, her speech was so outstanding that she won the competition. Sadly, she was later disqualified because the subject of her speech was too “controversial.”

If you hate the media, you’ll love the speech. No matter what your position on abortion may be.

Brilliant anti-abortion commercial banned by NBC

Here at I Hate The Media, we know a thing or two about advertising. Like, for example, we know a great commercial when we see it.

NBC has rejected a Super Bowl commercial created by a Catholic advocacy group. The ad, which can be seen here (to the left) is simple, riveting, and features a surprise twist. Consider it proof that a great commercial doesn’t have to cost millions of dollars.

No matter what position you take on the abortion issue, this commercial is a simple, powerful piece of communication.

NY Times calls liberal senator “too conservative”

new_yorker_magAs if attempting to prove the truth of that old New Yorker cartoon that shows nothing of any consequence beyond the friendly confines of Manhattan, the New York Times has condemned liberal Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand for being too conservative.

Apparently, Gillibrand hasn’t toed the party line quite as strictly as they would like. Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth at the DNC when they found out she has a 100% lifetime rating from the National Rifle Association, voted against TARP, supports the death penalty, and is pro-life? Yet despite those “conservative” positions, Gillibrand considers herself a liberal.

We’re sure the Times has nothing to worry about, because Gillibrand’s liberal re-education has already begun. She announced that she is going to visit Harlem with Rev. Al Sharpton “to become more enlightened about gun control.”

Our opinion: the terms “Al Sharpton” and “enlightenment” are mutually exclusive.

Networks ignore 300,000 pro-life march

march_for_lifeYou’ve seen it happen a thousand times. Half a dozen nitwits show up for a liberal protest and the evening news makes it look as if they numbered in the thousands.

Yet last week, when 300,000 people showed up at the annual March for Life in Washington, DC, the nets were able to make it look as if the attendance was zero. Because ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS completely ignored the event. So did the print editions of Time and Newsweek.

“If 50,000 feminists had gathered on the Mall in D.C., to demand passage of the so-called Freedom of Choice Act,” a spokesman said, “it would have been above-the-page-one-fold coverage in The Times, accompanied by an aerial photo of the crowd.”

Look for it right next to the story about how much Michelle Obama’s dress cost. And right above the story about how conservatives want to starve old people.
