Nightmare: Helen Thomas to appear in April Playboy

Helen Thomas in Playboy. Good lord, those are words that makes the horror of Japan’s nuclear disaster pale in comparison.

Luckily, she’ll keep all her clothes on. This is merely an interview with the anti-Semitic old harridan. And we quote:

Helen Thomas poses in Playboy as someone who's not anti-Semitic

“I knew exactly what I was doing – I was going for broke. I had reached the point of no return. You finally get fed up…I finally wanted to speak the truth,” explains former dean of the White House Press Corps Helen Thomas when asked about her now infamous May 27, 2010 comments on Israel in Playboy’s April Interview (issue on newsstands and online at www.playboydigital.com Friday, March 18). The outspoken journalist sparked controversy when a rabbi and blogger asked her for remarks on Israel and she responded “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine,” adding that the Jews “can go home” to “Poland, Germany and America and everywhere else.” Shortly thereafter her comments went viral and Thomas abruptly resigned from her post at Hearst Newspapers on June 7, 2010.

The 90-year-old veteran reporter sat down with Playboy Contributing Editor David Hochman for her first in-depth interview following her contentious remarks. Not only did she share her thoughts on Israel and Palestine, she also discussed her sentiments towards Jews, her supposed retirement, President Obama, Congress’s anti-Arab agenda and her obituary.

Far be it from us to imply that Playboy is out of touch, but what makes them think anyone – anyone – has any interest in hearing another word Helen Thomas has to say?

Video: Reporter gets waterboarded for his story, doesn’t like it

You’ve read a lot about waterboarding. You’ve heard a lot about waterboarding. But have you ever seen someone actually waterboarded?

We hadn’t until we saw this video. Playboy reporter Mike Guy got the unenviable assignment to experience waterboarding personally, which probably makes him the first guy who ever considered working for Playboy to be torture.

Turns out waterboarding is nothing like we expected and it’s definitely nothing like tough talking Mike Guy expected.

Playboy may fold (or centerfold, as the case may be)

playboy_bunny_logoThe Playboy empire may be on the auction block. If it can’t find a buyer, it has to figure out how to survive massive losses that show no sign of diminishing.

Last week, the “sophisticated” gentlemen’s magazine had a dismal conference call announcing its fourth quarter and full-year financial results. Jerome Kern, the company’s interim CEO, gulped and reported a 2008 loss of $156 million.

Kern admitted he’s “open to discussions” about a possible sale. In the last six months, the company has eliminated 80 jobs, lost its CEO (founder Hugh Hefner’s daughter Christie), moved back to Chicago, and replaced its editorial director. Critics also complain that the magazine has no internet strategy.

The magazine desperately needs to attract a younger demographic. So it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that one of its problems is that its most visible spokesman is an 82-year old man who pretends he’s sleeping with three attractive young women.

Hugh Hefner seems to have “sophistication” confused with “sophomoric.”

The economy is so bad Playboy can’t afford boobs

seth_roganWant to know why Playboy is struggling? To put it in terms a Playboy reader can understand, why pay for the cow when the milk is free? (In case that was too subtle, we mean to say that there’s so much free porn on the internet that no one is willing to pay for “sophisticated” nudity anymore.)

OK, we’ve put this off long enough. Let’s just say it quickly and get it over with. “Knocked Up” star Seth Rogan’s ugly mug will be on the cover of Playboy’s March (oops, correction) April issue. Maybe Christie Hefner hasn’t noticed but he’s a man. A dude. A guy.

Shame on Playboy. This sad little ploy reeks of desperation and screams, “Publicity stunt.”

It really doesn’t matter to us because we haven’t read Playboy since college. Oh, hell, who do we think we’re kidding? We didn’t read it then. Never actually noticed that it had words.

Christie Hefner named CNN economic centerfold of the month

Christie Hefner, daughter of doddering, octagenerian Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, has a new job. CNN announced this morning that she has been “added to our roster of economic analysts.”

Hefner breathlessly revealed her economic expertise by saying the “sense that I’m getting, in talking to CEOs, is that people are hoping for a late 2010 recovery.”

“I’ve proposed a special program called ‘The Anchors of CNN,’” Hefner might have said. “In a cost-cutting move, we’ve chosen Larry King as our first centerfold because he already had a staple in his belly.”

“I couldn’t be prouder,” said proud papa Hugh Hefner. “But can you remind me again who she is?”
