Franken says, “Don’t forget me. I cheated on my taxes, too.”

al_franken_lying_liarsAl Franken, the Minnesota Democratic senatorial candidate, apparently considers Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle to be role models. Because the unfunny former comedian still owes more than $70,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties to 17 states.

When the problems were discovered, Franken immediately threw his accountant of 18 years under the bus. The poor accountant could only say, “I’ve been told to say ‘no comment.’”

Referring to Daschle’s withdrawal, President Obama said, “Ultimately it’s important for this administration to send a message that there aren’t two sets of rules. You know, one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks who have to pay their taxes.”

If Franken’s senate bid proves unsuccessful, Obama is reported to be considering him for a position in his administration. “He has all the qualifications we’re looking for,” said one fictional administration spokesperson.

Andrea Mitchell feels Tom Daschle’s pain

Andrea Mitchell feels badly for tax-dodgin’ Tom Daschle. She really does.

“I just got off the phone with Tom Daschle,” she said sympathetically on MSNBC. “And it was an emotional conversation…it sounded as though he were tearful, overwrought.”

When Republican Senator Jim DeMint contended that Democrat support for Daschle’s nomination had wavered, Mitchell was clearly upset. “You can say that the Democrats were uncomfortable as well,” Mitchell lectured, “but they were all supporting him publicly.”

“So this does read to the public as though the Republicans went after this man,” she wondered aloud, “someone that the President very much wanted, and brought him down.”

Like opposing the confirmation of a felonious tax cheat is a bad thing?

Why tax-dodgin’ Tom Daschle needs a limo and chauffeur

Suddenly, we feel bad for tax-dodgin’ Tom Daschle. Maybe we should all just cut him a little slack.

We just learned that he was such a dedicated public servant during his days in Washington, DC that he drove an old junker instead of buying a new car. Here’s one of his old campaign commercials to prove what a hard-working, stand-up guy he was is.

“Maybe he’s sentimental,” the voiceover intones, “Or just cheap. Whatever the case, isn’t it too bad that Washington doesn’t understand that a penny saved is a penny earned?”

We can all learn a lesson from Tom Daschle: Your money goes much further when you don’t pay a penny in taxes.

Watch the commercial. Laugh at it knowing that this pompous ass has finally been exposed.

Capone got prison, Daschle gets an appointment

Death is the only thing keeping notorious Chicago tax cheat Al Capone from joining the Obama administration.

When the Obama administration learned that Tom Daschle had cheated on his taxes, one administration official reportedly said, “He’s our kind of guy.”

Add up Daschle’s unreported income from the use of a luxury car and chauffeur in 2005, 2006 and 2007, unreported consulting income in 2007, and reductions in his charitable contributions, and the would-be head of Health & Human Services under-reported his income by $353,552.

Amazingly, Daschle suddenly got religion, filed amended tax returns, and paid $140,167 in unpaid taxes on January 2 of this year.

And that’s not the end of it. The Finance Committee staff still is reviewing other possible “under-reporting” of income by Daschle.

The Obama administration said they were 100% behind Daschle. But forensic accountants estimate the number is probably closer to 120%. Only an audit can reveal their real level of support.

Obama friends pile up ethics violations “with lightning speed”

Daschle, Richardson, Clinton and Blogojevich seen fleeing from ethics charges.

When the new Obama administration said it would act with lightning speed in its first hundred days, no one knew they were talking the speed with which their friends would pile up ethics violations.

First, Illinois governor Rod Blogojevich was busted for attempting to sell Obama’s senate seat the highest bidder.

Then, New Mexico governor Bill Richardson had to withdraw from consideration as Commerce Secretary due to similar “pay to play” accusations.

Then, Hilary Clinton was named Secretary of State despite the obvious conflicts presented by her husband’s acceptance of millions of dollars from foreign governments.

Then, Timothy Geithner was confirmed as Secretary of the Treasury despite cheating on his taxes.

And yesterday Tom Daschle, Obama’s nominee for head of Health & Human Services, had to pay $140,000 in back taxes and interest for limousine and chauffeur services given to him by a wealthy donor.

Doesn’t this Obama guy have any honest friends?
