Second woman alleges Al Franken groped her

Second woman alleges Al Franken groped her. Weird Al strikes again! This makes us wonder how many settlements your tax dollars have made from the Congressional Groper Fund? It’s time to resign Al.

Al Franken lets his fingers do the walking. And by walking we mean putting a strangle on the cell phone industry.

It appears Al Franken is bringing his vast experience as a failed comedian and talk show host into the arena of telecommunications.

We can only hope this venture doesn’t turn out so poorly for the consumer as their regulation of the energy industry has.

Sorry we don't have a funny caption to accompany this story, but there's absolutely nothing funny about Al Franken

Up to The Hill for more:

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) became the latest lawmaker to publicly oppose AT&T’s proposed $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA on Tuesday, arguing the deal would harm consumers, stifle competition in the wireless market and lead to thousands of lost jobs.

Franklin complained.

“This transaction is not in the public interest. If approved, it would result in greatly reduced competition, the potential loss of thousands of jobs, higher consumer prices, and less innovation in technology.”

And it continued.

In an unusual argument, Franken also claimed the merger would undermine the principle of net neutrality “because it would place de facto control of our nation’s information infrastructure in the hands of only two companies.”

In a way it is interesting to witness Franken arguing for more competition in the market. We are all for that. Which also accounts for our opposition to the very government forces that destroy competition by removing from consumers the authority to decide what succeeds and what fails.

It is also interesting to note that in the end its down to this issue of net neutrality. Don’t be fooled though. Net neutrality has as much to do with neutrality as the fairness doctrine had to do with fair. Net neutrality is a pleasant euphemism for Stuart Smalley regulating our use of the Internet.

Blind sow of the day: Al Franken realizes that Barack Obama might not be president in 2013

Even Democrat Senator Al Franken (Ugh. Just typing those words still makes our skin crawl) occasionally stumbles on an unavoidable truth.

Even Democrat Senator Al Franken (Ugh. Just typing those words still makes our skin crawl) occasionally stumbles on an unavoidable truth.

Fox News reveals Franken’s revelation:

Things might not be looking so good for President Obama in 2012, according to one of Washington’s most liberal lawmakers. Senator Al Franken D-Minn., forecast a potentially gloomy outcome for his party’s first-term president during a hearing about FBI director Robert Mueller, and the former comedian wasn’t kidding.

“I should note, President Obama could nominate a new director that would be there for ten years,” Franken explained. “In two years, he may not be the President. So I think that bears just a mention.”

While you’re at it, Al, it also bears a mention that you might not be a senator in four years.

But don’t give it another thought. We wouldn’t want too much reality to intrude on your socialist fantasies.

Franken doodle dandy

An Associated Press photographer got a shot over Frank’s shoulder that caught him drawing a damn nice likeness of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions instead of paying attention to the testimony.

Minnesota, you must be proud.

Al Franken catches a little shut-eye during Elena Kagan’s opening statement

As our grandmothers used to say, “He’s just resting his eyes.” C’mon, Senator Franken, this thing’s going to go on for days. And days. And days.

As our grandmothers used to say, “He’s just resting his eyes.”

C’mon, Senator Franken, this thing’s going to go on for days. And days. And days.

If the woman puts you to sleep with her opening bullshit statement, what’s it going to be like when your colleagues start preening for the TV cameras and Kagan starts droning on with her rehearsed answers?

You might as well bring in a cot and a banky.

Al Franken doesn’t have a clue what’s in the ObamaCare bill

Author Jason Mattera waylays Minnesota’s finest senator and asks him why skate parks, jungle gyms, midnight basketball and time off for breastfeeding mothers should be the federal government’s responsibility.

Franken not only proves that he doesn’t know what’s in the bill, but simultaneously proves that he’s a thoroughly unlikable person.

Hmmmmm. Did ACORN steal the election for Al Franken?

Shame on us. We’ve been thinking that the election of Al Franken proved that the people of Minnesota need massive psychiatric intervention. But maybe not if the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is to be believed.

Senator Al Franken (D-ACORN)
Senator Al Franken (D-ACORN)

Shame on us. We’ve been thinking that the election of Al Franken proved that the people of Minnesota need massive psychiatric intervention. But maybe not if the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is to be believed:

…ACORN does have a special place in its heart for at least one prominent Minnesota politician. Last year, it showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing his run for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the esteem: “I’m thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement,” he gushed in a press release. He added that he was “more motivated than ever to work with ACORN.”

Fact is, ACORN may deserve the credit and the blame for Franken’s election. The scandal-plagued group claims it registered 75% of Minnesota’s 43,000 new voters. Since Franken’s margin of victory was a mere 312 votes, it seems reasonable to assume that ACORN’s dubious new voters were enough to swing the election in the Democrat’s direction.

Of course, Minnesota’s Democrat Secretary of State Mark Ritchie scoffs at that assertion and says there’s nothing to worry about because Minnesota’s voter verification system guarantees the integrity of the election. But you have to take that with a grain of salt because ACORN also endorsed Ritchie and helped get him elected.

Ritchie’s probably more motivated than ever to work with ACORN, too.

Minnesota elected a senator they really don’t like very much

Turns out Minnesotans don’t particularly care for the guy they just elected as their senator. A mere 43% of Minnesota adults approve of his job performance, one of the lowest approval ratings ever among newly elected senators.

United States Senator Al Franken. Don't blame us, Minnesota. You voted for him.
United States Senator Al Franken. Don't blame us, Minnesota. You voted for him.

There must be something in water in the Land of Sky Blue Waters. Something that leads them to elect lunatics like Jesse Ventura and now Al Franken.

Turns out Minnesotans don’t particularly care for the guy they just elected as their senator. The honeymoon, if there was one, was mercifully short.

United States Senator Al Franken (we still have trouble typing those words) has one of the lowest approval ratings ever among newly elected senators. A mere 43% of Minnesota adults approve of his job performance.

Franken’s not just disliked, he’s disliked across the board. Pick a group in Minnesota and they probably dislike their new senator. He can’t muster a majority among any age demographic. Homeowners dislike him. Students dislike him. Homemakers dislike him.

As HotAir.com points out, “The lesson here is that Franken is an extraordinarily weak incumbent even before he’s cast enough votes to alienate his constituents. If the GOP can make 2014 a two-candidate race, Franken should be easy to beat.”

What were you thinking, Minnesota?

Franken says, “Don’t forget me. I cheated on my taxes, too.”

al_franken_lying_liarsAl Franken, the Minnesota Democratic senatorial candidate, apparently considers Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle to be role models. Because the unfunny former comedian still owes more than $70,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties to 17 states.

When the problems were discovered, Franken immediately threw his accountant of 18 years under the bus. The poor accountant could only say, “I’ve been told to say ‘no comment.’”

Referring to Daschle’s withdrawal, President Obama said, “Ultimately it’s important for this administration to send a message that there aren’t two sets of rules. You know, one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks who have to pay their taxes.”

If Franken’s senate bid proves unsuccessful, Obama is reported to be considering him for a position in his administration. “He has all the qualifications we’re looking for,” said one fictional administration spokesperson.
