The ban was instituted, of course, because Savage had been convicted of building pipe bombs used to kill British soldiers. What’s that? He didn’t?

Well, it’s well known that Savage is a convicted felon who molested dozens of innocent children. What’s that? He didn’t?

OK, but he had strong opinions that not everyone agreed with. And in today’s politically correct world no crime is worse.

The Conservative-led British government announced in July it would only lift the ban initiated by the previous Labour leadership if Savage took back statements he had made on his broadcasts that were deemed a ‘threat to national security’.

And while the U.K has never specified which comments it found so dangerous, an attorney for the British government has stayed true to its threat, reaffirming the ban.

The Right-wing radio presenter, whose hardline views on Islam, rape and autism have caused outrage in the US, was identified in May 2009 by then U.K. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith as one of 16 people barred due to their political views.

The list also included hate preachers, Hamas terrorist leader Yunis Al-Astal, former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard Stephen Donald Black and neo-Nazi Erich Gliebe.

Now Michael Atkins, writing on behalf of the U.K.’s treasury solicitor, has told Savage’s London-based attorney the ban had to stick because Savage had not gone back on his ‘extreme’ comments.

Jacqui Smith is the disgraced former British Home Secretary who released the now famous list of “terrorists” who were to be banned from Great Britain. For some still undetermined reason, American radio talk show host Michael Savage was on that list.

Smith was forced to resign over this and other fiascos that occurred under her watch.

The same day that her replacement as British Home Secretary buried (but not scrapped) her terrorist list, Smith admitted that she had been in over her head. Way over her head.

“When I became home secretary I’d never run a major organization,” she said in an interview. “I hope I did a good job but if I did it was more by luck than by any kind of development of skills. I think we should have been better trained. I think there should have been more induction.”

What kind of crazy country would put someone in charge who has never had any experience running a large organization?

Sure glad that sort of thing could never happen in the United States.

On Monday, British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith announced that she would fight a defamation suit brought by American talk show host Michael Savage after he was barred from entering the UK.

On Tuesday, Smith submitted her resignation to unpopular Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Savage was “outraged” when Smith lumped him together on the list with a Ku Klux Klan grand wizard, a skinhead gang leader and a Hezbollah militant who spent 30 years in prison.

Savage, was reportedly asking for as much as $150,000 in damages and an apology.

British observers believe the Savage issue may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Smith.

Great Britain is currently embroiled in a scandal over Members of Parliament submitting fraudulent expense reports for personal items. Smith was caught up in the controversy when she submitted an expense report that included the costs of her husband’s porn purchases.

Whether you like Savage or not, you have to admit that he’s never been a danger to anyone. Except, perhaps, Smith and her career.

These are people that Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said these are the sorts of nasty people that “Britain was not prepared to tolerate.” Among those named is America’s third most popular political radio talk show host Michael Savage, a personal favorite of the Administrator here (and boy is he pissed).

Why does the media hate and ignore Michael Savage?

michael savageThere’s an old saying that “Any ink is good ink.” But when it comes to radio talk show host Michael Savage, there’s almost no ink.

Savage is America’s third largest talker based on number of affiliates and listeners. Top dog Rush Limbaugh has “about 600 affiliates.” Sean Hannity has “over 500.” And Michael Savage reportedly has 400. Yet the difference in press coverage received by the three talk titans is startling.

We searched Google News for the year 2008. “Rush Limbaugh” and was mentioned 68,400 times. Sean Hannity was mentioned 18,600 times. But Michael Savage scored only 5,910 mentions. Obviously, Limbaugh is the king daddy and in another league compared to everyone else. But how do you explain the vast difference between the coverage of Hannity and Savage? Savage has 80% as many affiliates as Hannity, but received but gets only 31% of the press coverage. And, by the way, he is a man that has published over 20 books.

To double check our theory, we also searched Google News for the last month. The finally tally was Limbaugh 9,398 mentions, Hannity 621 mentions, and Savage a mere 137 mentions. That number puts him far closer to overwhelmingly unpopular and unsuccessful talk show hosts like Stephanie Miller (73 mentions) and Ed Schultz (44 mentions) than to peers Limbaugh and Hannity. Yet Savage has far more affiliates and a far larger audience than either of the liberal hosts.

Yes, Savage is combative. Abrasive. Harsh. Acerbic. Outspoken. But he has a large, loyal audience and there’s no logical reason for him to be ignored by the liberal and conservative press.

Here’s to you, Michael. For what it’s worth, you’re not being ignored by IHateTheMedia.com.

During an interview last week, radio host Michael Savage brought up the Fairness Doctrine and observed that Brown sounded as if he favored state control over the media.

“Well,” Brown said, “a little state control wouldn’t hurt anybody.”

“If you have no views of one side, like in certain campaigns if somebody is attacking you, there’s got to be some room for the other side,” Brown continued. “It’s an attempt to balance, not to censor.”

This is why Jerry had to drop out of the Catholic seminary. He thought the Scientologists and Druids should have equal time every Sunday.
