“I confirmed the interior doors were locked and instructed the four suspects to come to the vestibule because it was unsafe to be outside because I saw police officers,” a vice principal said.

In video from Yahoo! News, the security officer and another party can be heard screaming “Don’t let them in the building” continually as the vice principals approached the masked and armed teens.

The school admins then let the teens inside the main doors where they remained inside the school’s vestibule.

The high school, the Garret Morgan School of Leadership & Innovation, was in session at the time and teaches roughly 285 students in grades 9 through 12.

Matthew Borges, a lobbyist and former chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, was arrested in connection to a year-long $60 million federal bribery scheme. According to prosecutors, Borges and three other lobbyists allegedly conspired with the Republican Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives to secure a $1.3 billion taxpayer bailout for an Ohio-based energy company, FirstEnergy Solutions.

Law enforcement officials claim that in exchange for helping FirstEnergy receive the bailout, which was meant to prevent the shutdown of two nuclear power plants, a nonprofit controlled by the House Speaker received $60 million.

Politico.com has the story of libertarians asking Carey to come on down:

With no clear-cut Republican contenders having emerged yet for the contest, conservative activist Josiah Schmidt took it upon himself a little more than a week ago to construct a website and Facebook page to kick off the draft effort.

While Carey, who is from Cleveland but currently lives in Los Angeles as host of “The Price is Right,” has not yet commented on the movement, Schmidt told POLITICO the Reason Foundation has already agreed to reach out to the television star about the possibility.

Reason, a libertarian think tank, partnered with Carey on a documentary series on the plight of Cleveland last year.

“Carey’s outspoken libertarian-conservative policy advocacy, most notably through the Reason Foundation, has proven his credentials as someone who could be trusted to spare no sacred cows in his fight to reduce the size and role of government back to what it was originally intended to be. Furthermore, his name recognition, personal wealth, affability, and status as Ohio’s favorite son would be a huge asset in an election,” said Schmidt.

“Drew’s increasing activism in local Ohio politics certainly gives us no reason to think he’s uninterested in running for office. Also, his recent slimming down, the fact that he is in the last year of his five-year contract with Price Is Right, and the fact that he maintains a residence in Cleveland would all match up well with a 2012 Ohio Senate candidacy,” he argued.

Why not? He’s funnier than Al Franken. But what the hell, if that’s now the criterion for being in the United States Senate, get ready for Senator Carrottop.

You know things are bad – very bad – for the Democrats when a lefty outfit like Public Policy Polling announces that Ohioans prefer President Bush over President Obama.

We’ll start rolling out our Ohio poll results tomorrow but there’s one finding on the poll that pretty much sums it up: by a 50-42 margin voters there say they’d rather have George W. Bush in the White House right now than Barack Obama.

Independents hold that view by a 44-37 margin and there are more Democrats who would take Bush back (11%) than there are Republicans who think Obama’s preferable (3%.)

A couple months ago I thought the Pennsylvanias and Missouris and Ohios of the world were the biggest battlegrounds for 2010 but when you see numbers like this it makes you think it’s probably actually the Californias and the Wisconsins and the Washingtons.

There’s not much doubt things are getting worse for Democrats…and they were already pretty bad. Somehow the party base needs to get reinvigorated over the next two months or there’s going to be a very, very steep price to pay.

It’s too soon to declare victory. But it’s not too soon to start checking prices on party supplies if you were thinking of throwing a party in, say, very early November.

Restaurant’s bottom line improves due to bustline

This is one of the odder stories of the day.

Kenny Tessel, owner of a Reading, Ohio barbeque restaurant thought of a clever way to combat a drop in business.

He bought a busty lifelike mannequin, dressed it in a bikini, and put it in his front window. Voila! Business started busting out all over.

“She has done it,” Tessel said about the mannequin he’s named Barbie Q. “She has made people stop. I know that sounds crazy and it’s hard to believe.”

Unfortunately, the city’s busybodies have complained about Barbie’s body. Yes, they’re offended by a mannequin in a bikini. Tessel was forced to appear before Reading’s Design Review Board to get a permit for Barbie. The board ruled that the well-endowed mannequin could stay, but that she’d also have to stay “covered up.”

This is truly a case where the cover-up is worse than the crime.
