Global warming may drive aliens to destroy life on Earth. No, really.

It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack.

Until now, the threats climate change cultists warned us about have been terrestrial: sea levels rising, year-round snowfalls, year-round heat waves, etc. That wasn’t enough to frighten change-denying terrorists, so now the believers are rolling out the big guns: aliens!

mars-attacks
On one hand the government says aliens don't exist. On the other hand, the government says aliens will destroy us.

Even the UK Guardian seems a bit skeptical:

It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.

Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth’s atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain.

When Neil Armstrong said, “One small step for man…”, one of the lizard people said, “There goes the astronomical neighborhood.”

“Green” aliens might object to the environmental damage humans have caused on Earth and wipe us out to save the planet.

Hmmmm. The aliens sound a lot like progressive Democrats.

“These scenarios give us reason to limit our growth and reduce our impact on global ecosystems.”

ETs may not like the growth that’s already here. We’d advise rich libs like Al Gore to move into eco-friendly huts pronto.

It would be particularly important for us to limit our emissions of greenhouse gases, since atmospheric composition can be observed from other planets,” the authors write.

It’s also important for us to limit our bullcrap emissions since it’s likely that frauds and hypocrites can be spotted from other planets, too.

Stephen Hawking to Earth: Stop trying to contact aliens

Stephen Hawking thinks alien civilizations may well exist and warns that if we Earthlings know what’s good for us, we’ll stop trying to contact them.

We consider Henry Waxman to be convincing evidence that hideous, alien creatures are already among us

Stephen Hawking thinks alien civilizations may well exist and warns that if we Earthlings know what’s good for us, we’ll stop trying to contact them.

Hawking’s Discovery Channel documentary hypothesizes some very strange looking reptilian and aquatic creatures.

The Times UK amplifies the potential alien alienation:

Such scenes are speculative, but Hawking uses them to lead on to a serious point: that a few life forms could be intelligent and pose a threat. Hawking believes that contact with such a species could be devastating for humanity.

He suggests that aliens might simply raid Earth for its resources and then move on: “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonise whatever planets they can reach.”

He concludes that trying to make contact with alien races is “a little too risky”. He said: “If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.”

Are you kidding? Apparently Hawking hasn’t seen the glitzy Indian casinos dotting the American landscape.

Thank Columbus. And roll the dice. Baby needs a new pair of shoes.

Scientist/astronaut “feels” earth has been scarred by humans

Bob Thirsk, a Canadian astronaut orbiting in the International Space Station, has concluded that earth bears the scars of human destruction. He reached this conclusion by using something a bit less scientific than the scientific method -– his feelings.

Before you begin reading this story, please click on the video clip so that you have the appropriate mood music. You know, something schmaltzy, something syrupy, something feelingish.

Bob Thirsk, a Canadian astronaut orbiting in the International Space Station, has concluded that earth bears the scars of human destruction. He reached this conclusion by using something a bit less scientific than the scientific method -– his feelings.

Here’s how Reuters tells Thirsk’s tale:

Bob Thirsk, who is two months into a planned six-month stay aboard the station, said he is mostly in awe when he looks out the window, particularly at the sliver of atmosphere wrapped around the planet.

”It’s a very thin veil of atmosphere around the Earth that keeps us alive,” Thirsk said during an in-flight news conference. “Most of the time when I look out the window I’m in awe. But there are some effects of the human destruction of the Earth as well.”

”This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time,” Thrisk said.

This is probably just a perception on our part, too:

Thirsk’s credibility is disappearing faster than the glaciers.

Paranoid Ugandan president says Africans must travel to the moon

The hideously ugly Ugandan national flag. Let's tackle the problems here on earth before we go to the moon.
The hideously ugly Ugandan national flag. Let's tackle the problems here on earth before we go to the moon.

You may have thought Uganda had enough problems, what with poverty, various civil wars, child slavery, mass murder, AIDS, and a hideously ugly national flag.

Nope. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has bigger fish to fry. He says Africans need to go to the moon.

Why? To investigate what developed nations have been doing up there.

“The Americans have gone to the moon. And the Russians. The Chinese and Indians will go there soon. Africans are the only ones who are stuck here,” Museveni said in a speech to the Uganda Law Society.

“We must also go there and say, ‘What are you people doing up here?’”

We really can’t think of any concluding comment funnier than that. So let’s just repeat it.

“We must also go there and say, ‘What are you people doing up here?’”

Did the Chinese fake their space walk? Hmmmmm.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us8xLsQ1MIE&eurl=http://presurfer.blogspot.com/We’re not conspiracy theory wackos. We absolutely believe American astronauts walked on the moon. Twelve of them on six different missions. They loped around, smacked golf balls, drove that little dune buggy, all that stuff.

But take a look at this video. It claims to reveal the truth behind the Chinese space walk. And it really makes you wonder if there was a little Sino-sleight of hand going on.

We hate the American media. They’ve proven they’re untrustworthy. But what’s this world coming to when you can’t trust the Chinese media?
