Check-Mate Industries, based in West Babylon, N.Y., makes handgun and rifle magazines, among other firearms-related equipment as well as life-saving devices for the medical industry. The company is an original equipment manufacturer for firearms makers and the U.S. military.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has details of the scary story:

The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus filed a lawsuit Monday against the state of Georgia seeking to dissolve the city charters of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Milton and Chattahoochee Hills. Further, the lawmakers, joined by civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery, aim to dash any hopes of a Milton County.

The lawsuit, filed in a North Georgia U.S. District Court Monday, claims that the state circumvented the normal legislative process and set aside its own criteria when creating the “super-majority white” cities within Fulton and DeKalb counties. The result, it argues, is to dilute minority votes in those areas, violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution.

“This suit is based on the idea that African Americans and other minorities can elect the people of their choice,” said Democratic State Sen. Vincent Fort.

The Office of the Governor and the Office of the Attorney General declined comment pending further review of the case.

The forum, moderated by Newsmakers Live, is solely for the black Republicans and Democrats running for Johnson’s 4th Congressional District seat, Carter took to the Internet to say.

Carter, a Republican, expressed her disappointment on Twitter Wednesday, asking, “What happened to diversity?”

“We called them, we asked to participate,” said Carter’s campaign manager, Cheryl Prater. But she said Newsmaker Live’s event moderator, Maynard Eaton, told the campaign that because Carter is white, she’s only allowed to sit in the audience and not participate.

Coming up next: Separate but equal bathrooms, drinking fountains and schools for blacks and whites.

Obama resolution causes racial dispute in Georgia

Black lawmakers pitched a hissy fit and stormed out of the Georgia House on Friday claiming that white Republicans’ decision to delay a resolution honoring President Barack Obama had racist overtones. (Gasp)

They say it’s an intentional snub to the nation’s first black president. “It drips with racism,” Democrat Representative Al Williams said. “I call it just like it is.”

Republicans simply objected to the over-the-top wording that declared Obama to be a man of “unimpeachable reputation for integrity.”

“All we’ve requested is minor changes to the language,” Representative Austin Scott. But Democrats are resisting the revisions.

House Majority Leader Jerry Keen asked to “get this language recrafted.”

“Two or three words can be changed and this matter can be voted on,” another Republican said.

Please. Can’t we all just get along? We’d like to offer our services as peacemakers and wordsmiths in this dispute.

We suggest they simply re-word the resolution to declare that “President Obama is a man with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity except for that Tony Rezko thing and that socialist thing and maybe a few other insignificant items too minor to really get into here.”

That would satisfy everyone, wouldn’t it?
