Good god. Is she still alive? The creator, producer and host of The View, one of the most inane programs in the history of television. Think of it as televised PMS. Barbara also created the question, “If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?”
Remember Jessica Hahn? She got in trouble years ago for diddling televangelist Jim Bakker. Well, Hahn did the unthinkable on Wednesday’s The View – she didn’t accept a full serving of crap from Barbara Walters.
Barbara Walters note to self: “Be careful what you say to guests on The View’s Where Are They Now week.”
Remember Jessica Hahn? She got in trouble years ago for diddling televangelist Jim Bakker. Well, Hahn did the unthinkable on Wednesday’s The View – she didn’t accept a full serving of crap from Barbara Walters. In fact, when Walters attempted to cast stones at Hahn, she threw them right back.
In other words, she said, “What the hell are you making me out to be a skank when you admitted to being one in your own autobiography?”
Or words to that effect.
The best part of this video clip, we think, are the expressions on the faces of the View’s co-hosts. Is it just our imagination or do they all find Barbara’s comeuppance kind of funny?
Remember the good ol’ days when Barack Obama was ratings gold for the networks? Was it really less than two years ago? Well, in the words of Bob Dylan, the times they are a changin’.

Barack Obama and Barbara Walters join forces to bore a nation
The Orlando Sentinel has the recent ratings revelations:
Friday was not a good night for President Barack Obama in the ratings. He got a shellacking there, too, to follow the one in the midterm elections.
His conversation with Barbara Walters placed second in total viewers to a rerun of CBS’ “Blue Bloods” and third in the 10 p.m. time slot in the 18-to-49 age group. On that count, Obama was behind Tom Selleck and NBC’s broadcast of the fantasy film “Enchanted.”
The Walters interview averaged 5.7 million viewers for ABC. The “Blue Bloods” repeat, the second of two Friday night, pulled in 7.6 million for CBS.
Seriously. What was ABC thinking? What question could Barbara Walters possibly ask Barack and Michelle Obama that hasn’t been asked and evasively not answered a thousand times?
Just in case you were worried that you couldn’t get through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend without Barack Obama, your prayers have been answered.
Just in case you were worried that you couldn’t get through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend without a little Barack Obama, your prayers have been answered.
Nooooooooo! They're coming into your living room again!
ABC News has the story:
President and Mrs. Obama will sit together for a Thanksgiving visit in a joint one-hour special with Barbara Walters airing on Friday, Nov. 26th, the day after the holiday, at 10 p.m. ET.
In addition to focusing on some of the major challenges facing the President today, part of the conversation will be a discussion of how the whole family reacted to the President’s political reversal. This interview will be Mrs. Obama’s first since the mid-term elections.
The special marks the second time the President and First Lady have sat for a joint interview with Ms. Walters; the first was November of 2008, immediately following the presidential election. The interview will be conducted in the White House on Tuesday, November 23rd.
Our heartiest congratulations to President Obama. It looks like he’s finally found a way to stimulate the economy. If seeing him being interviewed on TV yet again isn’t enough to drive people out of the house and into the stores on Black Friday, nothing will.
Seriously, Barbara, what could you possibly ask this guy that hasn’t been asked and answered in a thousand other TV interviews?
We’d suggest you go with the “If you were a tree what kind of tree would you be?” question.
There are a lot of theories floating around about why a sitting president would lower himself to do an embarrassing daytime gabfest like The View.
Fox News explains it all in just seven words: “Desperate attempt to hold women voters.”
When asked why he chose that particular arena, the president joked, “I was trying to find a show that Michelle actually watched.” But it’s not just the First Lady who’s tuning in. According to Nielsen Media Research 79% of “The View”’s audience is female, a demographic that’s started to cool on the president.
Fox News/Opinion Dynamics polling shows Mr. Obama averaged a 59% approval rating among women in 2009, but seven months into 2010, that’s dipped 14 points to just 45%. That’s tough news for a party that is used to benefitting from the gender gap, a phenomenon political analyst Larry Sabato says surfaced in the 1980 presidential election. “It exists in almost all elections, ranging from five to eight percentage points,” according to Sabato.
We just read the other day that he’s also losing ground with Hispanics. So don’t be surprised if he shows up on a Telemundo telenovella, one of those Spanish nighttime soap operas.

Larry King, Charlie Rose, David Letterman and Barbara Walters all turned thumbs down on interviews with celebrity biographer Kitty Kelly, whose unauthorized bio of Oprah will soon be released.
The media protect their own by refusing to interview Oprah biographer Kitty Kelley
And considering Oprah’s current girth, a very wide circle it is.
Larry King, Charlie Rose, David Letterman and Barbara Walters all turned thumbs down on interviews with celebrity biographer Kitty Kelly, whose unauthorized bio of Oprah will soon be released.
Odd, one might have to conclude, considering the gleeful receptions Kelley received from those same hosts when she penned a scandalous bio of George Bush a few years ago.
Margo Howard reports the hypocritical headlines:
“… most of the kingpin interviewers in the mainstream media were astonishingly up front about saying they would not help Kitty Kelley promote her book because they didn’t want to offend Oprah! They didn’t even make up excuses; they flat-out said they didn’t want to offend Oprah. It was surprising, to say the least, that interviewers such as Larry King, Charlie Rose, David Letterman and Barbara Walters all shut her out. Walter’s turn-down was especially interesting in that she said she wouldn’t even have Kelley on “The View.” I mean, that’s a show with four or five babes nattering on, where no guest is on for more than maybe seven minutes. Walters told Random House publicity she didn’t want to “upset” Oprah. Letterman said he didn’t want to “disrupt” his détente with Oprah. And ABC, whose name might as well now stand for “All ‘Bout Cowards,” made an across-the-board decision that Kelley’s book would be boycotted by all ABC shows. Even second-tier people like Joy Behar followed suit. And Rachael Ray! A cooking show, no less.
Much to our surprise, Kelley has booked an appearance in one unexpected place.
… To their credit, the top show for people flogging books, “The Today Show,” will be Kitty’s first publicity stop when the book is released. Bill O’Reilly will be the second. I find all this really interesting. What is it, I wonder, that has major television people so afraid of Oprah? It is a question whose answer I look forward to finding in Kelley’s book. I will get back to you when I’ve read it.
To his credit, Matt Lauer actually gave Kelley a pretty good grilling when she appeared on the Today Show to hype her bio of George Bush.
Our advice? Don’t bother with Lauer and the Today Show. Wait until Kelley appears on Fox.
The View’s Barbara Walters gets things going by suggesting that Barack Obama should have had the common sense not to answer the question when Oprah asked hm to grade his performance.
The gals on the View discuss Oprah Winfrey’s White House interview of Barack Obama. What could go wrong?
Barbara Walters gets things going by suggesting that Barack Obama should have had the common sense not to answer the question when Oprah asked him to grade his performance.
Not to be outdone, Joy Behar rushes to Obama’s defense by pointing out that he was once a professor and it’s just second nature for him to hand out grades.
Then Whoopi Goldberg jumped in to put all the blame on Oprah and to say it it wasn’t the answer that was dopey, it was the question.
The brain power on this panel couldn’t light up one of those new fangled energy efficient bulbs.
Last night Barbara Walters crowned The Most Beautiful First Lady in History as The Most Fascinating Person of 2009. What’s fascinating to us that Walters does not know that Michelle Obama is a democrat.
Last night Barbara Walters crowned The Most Beautiful First Lady in History as The Most Fascinating Person of 2009. What’s fascinating to us that Walters does not know that Michelle Obama is a democrat.
Earlier in the evening she did an interview with Bill O’Reilly and she made a point (watch minute 5:45 in the video above) to O’Reilly that there are no democrats on this list.
But maybe she’s right. To be fair, she didn’t say there were no socialists on the list.
Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney has a new girlfriend, a socialite named Nancy Shevell.
The good news is that unlike McCartney’s previous wife, Shevell is apparently rational, has millions of dollars of her own, and best of all, two fully-functional legs.
The bad news is that Shevell is Barbara Walters’ cousin.
Although we’re sure this is heartbreaking news for McCartney, we always feel it’s better that things like this come out before the wedding. We’re just sorry that we had to be the bearers of bad news.
(In order to maintain our remarkably high standards of journalistic integrity, we must report that this is a complete lie. There is nothing we enjoy more than being the bearers of bad news. Yee-haw!)
