MediaBistro.com has the disastrous details:

Even as the oil continues to gush from the sea floor, and the networks shuttle their anchors to points along the Gulf coast, NBC Nightly News, ABC World News and the CBS Evening News continue to lose viewers. All three broadcasts were down in Q2 2010 compared to the same period last year.

In numbers released today, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams lost -440,000 viewers (-140k in A25-54 demo) compared to Q2 2009. ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer lost -260,000 viewers (-80k demo) (Charlie Gibson was anchor in 2009). The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric lost the most, based on a percentage, losing -340,000 viewers (30k demo) compared to Q2 2009. ABC and CBS were also down when Q2 2008 is compared to Q2 2009.

And yet Fox News ratings just keep going up. Hmmmm. How can it be explained?

Liberal media circle jerk: Newsweek invites NBC’s Brian Williams to stroke Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart

Newsweek decided to do a story on “New Thought Leaders” and invited prominent people to talk about them. Jon Stewart (believe it or not) was ranked #2 and NBC News anchor Brian Williams got all gooey about Jon Stewart.

Newsweek decided to do a story on “New Thought Leaders” and invited prominent people to talk about them. Jon Stewart (believe it or not) was ranked #2 and NBC News anchor Brian Williams got all gooey about Jon Stewart.

Our advice: Stand back so you don’t get any on you.

In just the span of a short few years, Jon Stewart has gone from optional to indispensable. Case in point: when Jon went all Glenn Beck on Jim Cramer a few months back. A few of us blanched. Getting pissed, brimming with bile—that was so . . . MSM of him. And yet, in the niche-y, hip, and in-the-know world of late-night, media-skewering comedy, it had the impact of Cronkite turning against Vietnam … The old arc of a news story went like this: News happens. Media cover news. Audience reacts, then turns in for the night. For the past several years, however, there’s been another step added to the end of the process: being held to account for our faults by a comedy show with a sharp eye and a sharp tongue. How did we live without it?

Yeah, that’s pretty barf-inducing. But it gets worse and we expect your never-ending thanks for revealing this next item so you don’t have to waste any time reading it for yourself:

Newsweek also invited New York Times columnist Gail Collins to drool over Hilary Clinton as the #10 New Thought Leader.

Pardon us, but we think we’ll stick with the same old thoughts.

Brian Williams and Walter Cronkite: A Liberal Love Story

NBC News anchor Brian Williams apparently had a longtime unrequited man crush on former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite.

If you think South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford’s love letters to his Argentine mistress were over the top, you ain’t heard nothin’ yet.

NBC News anchor Brian Williams apparently had a longtime unrequited man crush on former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite.

Williams begins this tale of the forbidden love between anchors for two competing networks by taking us back to his childhood home in upstate New York, where Mom Williams refused to serve up a hearty meal of Tater Tots and Tang until Cronkite had uttered the words, “And that’s the way it is….”

“And I announced my intention to my family, apparently, at the age of 8, that he was the man I wanted to be. And this was the profession I wanted,” Williams recalled wistfully. “And I have lived such a charmed life that I got the chance to explain that to Walter and tell him that and make it clear. And just was able to breathe the air he exhaled and know him a little bit, as friends.”

Excuse us for interrupting this touching moment, but we can’t help but picture the strange scene that would have played out between young Brian and the venerable Cronkite:

Walter:   Hello, kid.
Brian:     You had me when you said hello, Mr. Cronkite.
Walter:   Can somebody get this kid out of the studio?
Brian:     But I love you, Mr. Cronkite.
Walter:   Anybody know who this kid is?
Brian:     I’m you. And you’re everything I ever want to be.
Walter:   Seriously. Get this little freak out of the studio.
Brian:     I want to breath the air you exhale.
Walter:   So that’s the way it is.
Brian:     No, Mr. Cronkite. That’s the way it was. Today, July 22, 1967.

How long until you start following the latest Obama fashion trend?

The One grew one. What about you?
The One grew one. What about you?

When President Obama made his speech in Cairo last week, people noticed something new, something now, something oh-so-Obama.

We’re referring to the wispy, but stylish ‘stache gracing his upper lip. Admittedly, it wasn’t the manliest mustache and it would have been more at home on a 15-year old boy.

Nevertheless, a new wispy mustache craze is sweeping Washington, DC. Everyone wants one because everyone wants to be just like the Greatest President In History. The literati, the glitterati, the cognoscenti. What about you?

It won’t be long before you’re no one without one.

As you can see, the trend is spreading faster than Swine Flu and it’s a lot less deadly.

Next time Joe Biden puts his foot in his mouth, it will just call attention to the brand new Obama on his upper lip.

John Edwards needed a new image. Who could resist voting for a guy sporting a suave ‘stache like this?

Hell hath almost frozen over:
Daily Show criticizes adulation of Obama

Now don’t get us wrong. We’re not saying Jon Stewart made fun of Obama. No, that’s still taboo. But at least he took a step in the right direction by making fun of people who worship The One. NBC’s Brian Williams, to be specific.

It does seem to be a case of the pot calling the kettle black, though.

Brian Williams shows subservience,
bows to King Barack

NBC News anchor Brian Williams actually bowed to President Obama on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the President was facing in the wrong direction, making it anatomically impossible for Williams to kiss his butt before leaving the White House.

“This,” the President thought to himself, “must be what ol’ King Abdul Aziz felt like when I bowed to him.”

Reliving the Dream of Muzzammil Hassan

The story of Muzzammil Hassan beheading his wife Aasiya has been purposefully suppressed or under-reported by the mainstream media since the the horrific murder was committed last Thursday in Buffalo, New York.

We know why, of course. It’s because Hassan is a Muslim-American whose mission was to improve the image of Muslims in the United States, and even with the obvious irony of the situation, the press just won’t let a good story get in the way of their agenda. So let’s play along, and instead of telling you more of how Aasiya’s head was knifed off in a manner not exactly in the custom of Americans (yeah, shoot us for saying it), let’s instead just shut the hell up about this unfortunate moment of second-degree rage, and relive the dream of Hassan’s network by relaxing, sitting back and watching this 2004 interview by NBC’s Brian Williams.

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak Obama

We always knew that Brian Williams had it out for President Bush. But now he’s calling him something he likely wouldn’t even call any of Obama’s terrorist friends: evil.

The NBC Nightly News anchor, last week on the Late Show with David Letterman, passionately described how he witnessed people line up to buy any type of Obama merchandise they could get their Messiah-worshipping hands on.

Gushing as if he’d just seen his first rock concert. he told Letterman he was thrilled at seeing so many people “that excited about our new chief executive after a line of what the ordinary voter would maybe describe as bad choices or choices of evils, for years, generations.”

Astute listeners will note it’s not him, but how “the ordinary voter” would describe Bush. According to Williams, “none of us have a party in my line of work. We all try to call balls and strikes down the center.”

Lounging off camera in his new “I love Obama” T-shirt, Williams reiterated
that he was completely impartial.

Obama has giant brain. Brian Williams no so much.

NBC News anchor Brian Williams is very pleased that Barack Obama is our new chief executive. But not so pleased, mind you, that it influences his work.

Just as we were beginning to worry about Williams’ impartiality, he reassured us that “none” of his personal enthusiasm about Obama’s presidency “is about a party” since “none of us have a party in my line of work. We all try to call balls and strikes down the center.”

Then Williams impartially noted that “we have a dazzling family in the White House” and stated that Obama “has an enormous brain.”

If brain size is now a reason to vote for a presidential candidate, let us be the first to say, “Brainiac 2012.”
