Now it turns out it’s all caused by the proliferation of cell phone signals.
Honeybees are confused by cell phones signals. This may explain politicians, too.

What’s a good liberal to do? On one hand they want to give everyone free government cell phones from Safelink. On the other hand, cell phones are killing the honeybees.

We know the routine. We do an article on this subject and apologists immediately bombard us with comments saying, “This isn’t a government program.” Nonsense. ReachOut admits as much on its blog.
Did I mention that you can get a free cell phone? Believe it or not, if you are considered “low income”, you can. Low income families have it hard. Working hard, paying off bills, and taking care of everyone’s needs is a difficult task. Thankfully, the list of government-assisted products and services now includes a free cell phone.
Free phone! Free minutes! Every month! You pay, they get it free!

In order to participate in the REACHOUT WIRELESS™ service, persons must meet certain eligibility requirements set by each State where the service is to be provided. These requirements are based on a person’s participation in a state or Federal support programs or by meeting the Income Poverty Guidelines as defined by the U.S. Government. REACHOUT WIRELESS™ service is limited to one person per household.
It’s nice to see that competition has been introduced into this program. Now Safelink and ReachOut will slug it out to see which company can give away more of your hard-earned dollars.

Waaaaaay back in March 2009, we ran a story headlined Safelink Wireless: Exposing the government’s cell-phones-for the-poor scam. Is there anything in that headline that would make anyone think we support this gross giveaway?
It was all about a company called SafeLink Wireless and the fact that they will give you a free cell phone and free monthly minutes as long as you’re already receiving other government assistance.
For some reason we are apparently unable to comprehend, this is our all-time most popular story. Day in and day, 365 days a year, it’s our one of our top five most read and most commented on stories.
But even more amazing, we constantly get emails from readers who think IHateTheMedia.com is giving away these phones, or that we are Safelink Customer Service.

And so it goes. Dozens of requests for a free cell phone. One after another, they just keep rolling in. Everyone want a free government cell phone.
So, just in case we haven’t made this clear, let us be blunt:

Wacko Democrat Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee was grilled by CNN anchor Rick Sanchez grilled her about taking a phone call while a constituent was asking her a question at a recent town hall meeting.
A woman comes home from work early and finds her husband in bed with a beautiful blonde. She screams, she cries, she gets hysterical.

In March 2009 we did a story about a wireless phone plan that provides free cell phones for the poor through Safelink Wireless. Much to our surprise, it’s generated more controversy and more comments than any other story we’ve ever done (you really should read some of the thousands of comments. Frankly, it’s astonishing).
TracFone Wireless follows Safelink Wireless in giving free cell phones to the poor
Anyone who thinks this is a good idea should have their head examined
Now Colorado is thinking about enrolling its poor in the same program.
The Denver Post reports:
“If approved, the plan by TracFone Wireless in Miami would make Colorado the 17th state it has settled into with free cell service for the indigent, a form of wireless welfare that proponents say taps into one of the last untapped markets for the telecom technology.
“Our hope is to have it up and running by September,” said Jose Fuentes, TracFone’s director of government relations. “Historically, it’s a very underutilized service, and we’d like that to change.”
In Colorado, it’s called LITAP — the Low Income Telephone Assistance Program — and is available to anyone receiving aid from any of six welfare funds…
The bad news is that you’re paying for this via the Universal Service Fund, one of those mysterious line item taxes listed on your monthly phone bill.
The good news is that you soon won’t have any money left and you’ll qualify for a free cell phone.
All that cell phone location-tracking technology you see on “24” really exists.
The law says we can’t use it to track terror suspects or kidnappers domestically, but can use it in foreign countries. But we can’t talk about that. At least not on the record. Or attributed. (So this is off the record. And anonymous.)
Here’s how Fox News explains it:
“Technology that tracks millions of 911 calls from cell phones in the United States every month is being deployed in Middle Eastern and Asian-Pacific countries to track terror suspects — but legal obstacles prevent widespread usage in the U.S.”
Let’s skip ahead to the last two paragraphs, which is always the best part:
U.S. military officials in Iraq and Afghanistan did not reply to requests for comment on the use of cell phone tracking there, but a source close to the matter told FOXNews.com that the practice is widely used.
“In Iraq and Afghanistan, I see [cell phone tracking technology] used all the time,” according to the source who requested anonymity due to not being authorized to speak on the matter. “I see it being used as often as a helicopter. But [military officials] don’t talk about electronic warfare, even if it’s widely used.”
Notice how the ones authorized to speak on the matter don’t comment. But you didn’t hear it from us.
It would appear that homeless people in the nation’s capitol have come a long way thanks to the largesse of the Pelosi-Obama “stimulus” package.
First Lady Michelle Obama recently took time out from her magazine photo shoots for the covers of “O” and Vogue to pose as a food server at a homeless shelter not far from the White House. She even posed for one of homeless poseurs.
