Explained in 60 seconds: Why your congressman isn’t holding a town hall meeting this year

Über liberal movie director Ron Howard isn’t going to be very happy with his brother Clint Howard’s new role as a liberal congressman desperately searching for reasons not to hold a town hall meeting this year.

It’s civil war in the Howard family. Über liberal movie director Ron Howard isn’t going to be very happy with his brother Clint’s new role as a liberal congressman desperately searching for reasons not to hold a town hall meeting this year.

Like all great satire, it holds a mirror up to truth.

Everything the DNC did not want you to know and was afraid you would ask

We uncovered some documents wrapped around three day old sushi and purported to be Democratic talking points suitable for town halls meetings and campaign appearances.

While cleaning out some dumpsters hoping to find the rumored Al Franken doodles of Elena Kagan naked, we instead uncovered some documents wrapped around three day old sushi and purported to be Democratic talking points suitable for town halls meetings and campaign appearances.

nancy pelosi campaign advice
Nancy Pelosi, the best darn friend a campaigning Democrat ever had

If questioned, we are sure the DNC would deny all knowledge or blame it on either George Bush or global warming, so we didn’t bother to ask. So here it is:

If someone at your town hall meeting starts to talk about lower taxes – RIDICULE HIM/HER immediately. Call them names like smart ass. If they persist, toss in “un-American” or “astro turf” and, of course, the biggie, scream “raaaaacism”.

When questioned about job numbers, it can become quite tricky to counter your constituent, especially if he or she is armed with pesky facts that you, unfortunately, cannot disprove, most likely because facts are, after all, facts. In this case, resort to the unexpected to throw your opponents off balance. Say something like, “Is it just me or do Sarah Palin’s breasts look unnaturally large?” Sometimes distraction is almost as good as winning.

barack obama campaign advice
Onward to glorious victory. Supreme Leader Barack Obama knows a frown is just a smile turned upside own

Should someone at your town hall bring up the Blago corruption trial and the glorious leader’s president’s involvement, go on the offensive. Make fun of Boehner’s tan by calling him a “person of color”. Not only is this distracting, it’s downright hilarious!

If someone mentions unemployment numbers, remind them it could be worse – 30%, 50% or even 100%. They could be a living in a communist nation and no one would get paid. Ummm, on second thought, don’t say that.

If a Republican or, God forbid, a Tea Party member should sneak into your Town Hall past your Union provided security personnel and they dare to ask about the oil spill, remind them that it is George Bush’s fault. Then question their patriotism for questioning the Great and Powerful Obama. Since no one knows exactly how the oil spill started, accuse them of begin responsible. Who knows? Maybe your accusations can gain some traction.

Should someone bring up the old news about Sestak or Romanoff being offered jobs for dropping out of their campaigns, look at them with utter disgust and disdain. You may wish to watch clips of Robert Gibbs to get the look down just right. Then say something like, “Are you honestly accusing this great man, the most intellectual and sexiest president of all time, of stooping so low?” Then sneer and say, “How could you? I’m not even going to dignify that question with a response.”

If your state borders Mexico – unlike Arizona – and someone questions border security in your state, jump up on your chair as if you have seen a large rat and yell, “Racist, racist, racist” while pointing at the offender. Don’t fall into the trap of letting a constituent ask if you’ve actually read the 20-page Arizona bill. This sort of bill is often both complicated and arcane and can be terribly confusing. Just assure your audience that the bill is racist and encourages profiling.

We are sure that we have left out some scandal problem that may give rise to a question or two, but if all else fails use the Nancy Pelosi defense. Talk about God’s will and tell everyone how great unemployment is.

Bill Maher to Obama, “Hey! I’m not crazy!”

“Maher called the White House “cowards” for allowing Van Jones to resign following a series of right-wing attacks and for capitulating to those who complained about the nature of Obama’s back-to-school speech.”

Bill “This country is so stupid” Maher is mad — really mad — and taking the Obama administration to task.

“Maher called the White House “cowards” for allowing Van Jones to resign following a series of right-wing attacks and for capitulating to those who complained about the nature of Obama’s back-to-school speech.”

Maher defended his statement saying “The Democrats just never learn. Americans don’t really care which side of an issue you’re on as long as you don’t act like pussies.”

The Huffington Post said, “Maher then criticized Obama for trying to win over those who vehemently disagree with him, insisting that the president should instead ‘stand up for the 70 percent of Americans who aren’t crazy.'”

Any right wing publication who dared refer to Democrats as (and we quote) “cowards” or (quoting again) “pussies” would be vilified by the left wing press. But since we are quoting Bill Maher as quoted in a left wing publication, what can we say?

While we agree that “Democrats are cowards” who often “act like pussies,” we are baffled by his statement that Obama should stand up for the 70 percent of Americans who aren’t crazy.

We’re not sure what polls Bill is paying attention to, or who he considers “not crazy” but we are willing to bet that he considers himself part of the 70%.

Which is all the proof you need that Bill is actually part of the 30%.

Democrat Congressman didn’t want to end up on YouTube. Sorry, Congressman.

We just can’t make up our minds about Baron Hill, a Democrat Congressman from Indiana. Part of us thinks he’s a complete jerk, but a kinder, gentler part of us says, no, he’s just a complete ignoramus.

We just can’t make up our minds about Baron Hill, a Democrat Congressman from Indiana. Part of us thinks he’s a complete jerk, but a kinder, gentler part of us says, no, he’s just a complete ignoramus.

Hill called on a young woman at a recent town hall meeting. She told him she was a journalism student working on a school project and objected to the fact that she was told she couldn’t videotape the event.

Student: Why can’t I film this? Isn’t this my right?

Hill: This is my town hall meeting, and I set the rules, and I’ve had these rules … (crowd jeers) … Let me repeat that one more time. This is my town hall meeting for you. And you’re not going to tell me how to run my Congressional office. Now, the reason why I don’t allow filming is that usually the films that are done end up on YouTube in a compromising position.

Apparently Hill didn’t notice that someone else in the crowd was breaking his rules and taping his answer.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, we’re proud to present Congressman Baron Hill’s YouTube debut.

Video exposé: Shameless Obama organizer tells supporters how to disrupt meetings

A DNC group organizer tells them how to shout down opponents who get up to ask Rep. Jan Schakowski tough Obamacare healthcare questions. He even tells them how to deny others the right to speak at all.

Health Care for America is a front group of the Democratic National Committee. You know, the patriotic hypocritical organization that’s accused opponents of ObamaCare of being members of organized groups. Astroturfers, in the current vernacular.

What’s most remarkable about this video clip to us isn’t that the organizer for Health Care for America Now is so blatant. It’s that he doesn’t seem to care that he’s being videotaped outside a town hall meeting giving precise instructions to paid ObamaCare supporters.

He tells them how to shout down opponents who get up to ask Rep. Jan Schakowski tough questions. He even tells them how to deny others the right to speak at all.

One other thing: Please note that these “grassroots” protesters are being handed HCAN bumper stickers at the end of the video.

This video clip brought to you by Healthcare for America, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat National Committee.

Congressman Anthony Weiner gets roasted

Here’s a great clip of Anthony Weiner catching hell from a voter at his latest town hall fiasco. Watch it through the end for Bonnie Cohen’s rousing conclusion

At this point, Anthony “The Most Appropriately Named Man In Congress” Weiner must be wondering why he ever ran for Congress. And his constituents must be questioning it, too.

Here’s a great clip of Weiner catching hell from a voter at his latest town hall fiasco. Watch it through the end for Bonnie Cohen’s rousing conclusion:

“I think its fair to say that Congress has been acting stupidly! My question for you Congressman is; do you plan to go back to Washington and deliver for us what we actually voted for? Or is that above your pay grade and do you plan to just promote your own career and campaign every hour on MSNBC?”

Not a bad question, Bonnie. Not bad at all.

Democrats fake vandalism crime against themselves

Remember how the Democrats howled last week when a swastika was painted on the wall of Congressman David Scott’s office in Georgia? “It’s the work of those evil, angry Nazis from the Town Hall meetings,” they said. Flash forward to this week with the Denver Post.

Remember how the Democrats howled last week when a swastika was painted on the wall of Congressman David Scott’s office in Georgia?

“It’s the work of those evil, angry Nazis from the Town Hall meetings,” they said. When those evil, angry Nazis suggested that, perhaps, the vandalism had been performed by Democrats in an attempt to cloud the healthcare issue, the “victims” raged with righteous indignation.

Flash forward to this week with the Denver Post:

A 24-year-old arrested this morning on suspicion of smashing 11 windows at Colorado Democratic Party headquarters tried to conceal his identity while allegedly committing the crime, according to police descriptions.

Maurice Schwenkler wore a shirt over his face, a hooded sweatshirt and latex gloves before he and another man fled the scene on bicycles. Police arrested Schwenkler after a short chase. The other suspect remains at-large.

While Schwenkler does not appear in the state’s voter registration database, a person by that name in November 2008 received $500 from a political 527 committee called Colorado Citizens Coalition for “communications,” according to campaign finance disclosures.

The accountantfor the 527 appears to be the same woman who handles the books for many other Democratic-leaning political committees.

A Maurice Schwenkler also signed an online 2005 petition to free anti-war Christian protesters who were captured in Iraq.

State Democratic Party Chairwoman Pat Waak initially blamed the vandalism on animosity surrounding the health care debate, though Denver police declined to comment on possible motives.

Oops. Looks like you angry, evil Nazis were right. Kind of like you were about ObamaCare.

The best town hall meeting ever: Impassioned protesters, a rational senator, and no union goons

How can you tell that town hall protesters are sincerely angry? Simple. They even show up to vent at Republicans senators who agree with them. Like Tennessee Republican Bob Corker.

Democrat congresswoman sets etiquette standards for town hall meetings

Cowardly but oh-so-refined Democrat Congresswoman Betsy Markey has announced that she will schedule a series of mini-town halls with no more than 20 constituents per meeting and each attendee will receive a book on etiquette.

Cowardly but oh-so-refined Democrat Congresswoman Betsy Markey, who’s run out of excuses not to hold town hall meetings, has announced that she will schedule a series of mini-town halls with no more than 20 constituents per.

Apparently the little princess is so afraid that her constituents will channel their inner mob that each attendee will receive a copy of “Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation,” supposedly written by George Washington.

Poor, deluded Betsy. If she thinks this angry mob needs lessons in civility, perhaps she needs to recall some of the protesters who challenged President Bush. You know, the ones about whom she said not a word.

Click “next page” below to see some of the truly incivil (translation: remarkably vile) protests against President Bush. But be warned: Graphic language and nudity is par for the course. Otherwise, we’d have posted them right here on page one.

Crazy Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee: “Who you gonna believe? Me or your lying eyes?”

Wacko Democrat Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee was grilled by CNN anchor Rick Sanchez grilled her about taking a phone call while a constituent was asking her a question at a recent town hall meeting.

A woman comes home from work early and finds her husband in bed with a beautiful blonde. She screams, she cries, she gets hysterical.

Her husband calmly gets up out of bed, puts on his clothes and walks downstairs to the kitchen, where he pours himself a glass of milk, sits down at the kitchen table and drinks it.

“I want a divorce,” the wife screams. “I can’t believe you had sex with another woman in my bed.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” the husband says. “I’ve never had sex with another woman.”

“I saw it with my own eyes,” the wife screams.

“Who you gonna believe,” the husband asks, me or your lying eyes?”

That was the defense wacko Democrat Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee took when CNN anchor Rick Sanchez grilled her about taking a phone call while a constituent was asking her a question at a recent town hall meeting.

Town hall hypocrisy: The liberal media’s protest dictionary

If you’re having trouble separating the hypocrisy in coverage of town hall anger, we’ve prepared this handy guide designed to help you recognize the difference between people who protest and people who cause disruptions.

We apologize for the horrifying photo, but the image of a "two-faced pig" just came to mind when we thought about the media
We apologize for the horrifying photo, but the image of a "two-faced pig" just came to mind when we thought about the media

The media has a problem with all these people showing up to townhall meetings and voicing their dissent. Dissension, after all, is only praiseworthy when its target is a Republican President or conservative lawmakers.

You may remember a few protests against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq during the Bush years. (By the way, whatever happened to war protests?)

Then there was the infamous shoe-chucking incident that was reported in a kind of a jokey way.

If you’re having trouble separating the hypocrisy in coverage of town hall anger, we’ve prepared this handy guide designed to help you recognize the difference between people who protest and people who cause disruptions.

C-SPAN caller hates the media. Who can blame her?

Leah, a C-SPAN caller from New Hampshire, came on the air saying that she “just wants to clarify a few things about these manufactured angered crowds.”

Not much commentary necessary here. We’ll just let Leah, a C-SPAN caller from New Hampshire, tell you what’s what.

She came on the air saying that she “just wants to clarify a few things about these manufactured angered crowds.” Politico reporter Manu Raju and C-SPAN’s Rob Harrell undoubtedly thought they were going to hear from a disgruntled Democrat.

Instead, Leah took them to school.

Where’s the ‘turf? ObamaCare supporters versus ObamaCare opponents

“Astroturfing” is a word created by Obama puppetmaster David Axelrod. Look at these photos and tell us just which side is astroturfing.

Do not question Lord Vader Congressman David Scott

Some ObamaCare proponents in congress have shut down their town hall meetings. Some have run from their constituents. Others, like Georgia Democrat David Scott from Georgia, have gotten a little hot under the collar.

Democrats are testy these days. They just didn’t expect opposition to their hairbrained healthcare scheme and they don’t know how to handle it. They thought the lemmings would quietly and compliantly step off the cliff.

Wrong.

It’s been quite a week. Some ObamaCare proponents have shut down their town hall meetings. Some have run from their constituents. Others, like David Scott, the distinguished Democrat congressman from Georgia, have gotten a little hot under the collar.

One of his constituents, a physician, had the temerity to ask the Congressman about ObamaCare. The congressman responds by erupting in anger and accusing him of “hijacking” the town hall, despite the fact that attendees had been told that no subjects were off limits during this open question-and-answer session.

They’re disintegrating, folks. Falling apart at the seams.

It’s is a joy to watch.

President lays on hands, cures woman’s cancer

The highlight of President Obama’s town hall meeting in Annandale, Virginia was when he called on Debby Smith, a cancer victim whose voice cracked and tears flowed as she told the President about her struggle with unemployment and lack of insurance.

The highlight of President Obama’s town hall meeting in Annandale, Virginia was when he called on Debby Smith, a cancer victim whose voice cracked and tears flowed as she told the President about her struggle with unemployment and lack of insurance.

The President called her forward, gave her a big ol’ bear hug and said he’d have his people look into it. It was a warm, tender moment except for one thing:

Debby Smith is actually an Obama campaign worker who had been surreptitiously planted in the audience. She’s a volunteer for a wing of the Democratic National Committee. She also works for the Virginia Organizing Project, which has been hyping health care forums around the state. A December news report revealed that Smith moderated a “a community discussion on health care issues” in Appalachia, Virginia and told her local paper that the meeting ‘would be reported back to former Sen. Tom Daschle, who has been directed by President Elect Barack Obama to form a committee to report on health care issues.’”

So how much help can Smith expect now that the President has told his people “to look into it”? Not much if recent history is any guide.

You may remember the name Henrietta Hughes. Her 15-minutes of fame began during the campaign when Obama called on her during another town hall meeting in Fort Myers, Florida.

Here’s how HuffingtonPost.com reported it:

One questioner in particular brought to life the dire situation. “I have an urgent need,” she said, revealing that her family was homeless and needed a place to live. Obama asked for her name — Henrietta Hughes — and told her, “We’re gonna do everything we can to help you…I’ll have my staff talk to you after the town hall.”

Apparently, talk is all she got from Obama’s staff. The HuffPo story continues:

…she did get the loan of a house owned by Representative Nick Thompson (a Republican), whose generosity was widely applauded. However, as soon as the house sells, Henrietta and her son may be out on the streets again. And lack of affordable housing is one of the major factors in homelessness.

Henrietta has actually received some help from homeless service organizations and some career help from the Career Center in Fort Myers. A few days ago, WINK News in Fort Myers did a follow up story on Henrietta. Not surprisingly, but still sad, is the fact that Henrietta still has no job and is running out of options. She has been taking computer classes, along with her adult son Corey, in the hope that they would be more qualified, but they are both in a job market that is likely filled with other applicants.

Bottom line: Barack Obama talks real pretty when the cameras are on, but doesn’t deliver. The only real help Henrietta Hughes received came from a Republican. She got nothing from the President but empty promises and that’s exactly what Debby Smith should expect, too.

But to end on a positive note, at least he treats us all equally.

Obama’s internet town hall quickly goes to pot

Last week’s high profile dipping of the presidential toe into cyberspace demonstrated the dangers of letting the people ask questions without the benefit of a teleprompter.

“There was one question that was voted on that ranked fairly high. That was whether legalizing marijuana would improve the economy and job creation,” Obama chuckled. “I don’t know what this says about the online audience.”

“This was a fairly popular question. We want to make sure it was answered. The answer is no, I don’t think that is a good strategy to grow our economy,” he said to a laughing East Room audience.

More than 90,000 questions were submitted to the White House website. Forget energy, the economy, terror, and healthcare. Seven of the 10 questions receiving the most votes revolved around the legalizing pot.

As usual, President Obama blew smoke. But for once his audience appreciated it.
