Bye-bye: Swing states rapidly swinging away from Obama

And now let’s join the Democrats as they bid a fond farewell to majorities in the House and maybe the Senate.

And now let’s join the Democrats as they bid a fond farewell to majorities in the House and maybe the Senate.

Public Policy Polling has the news of the Democrats dwindling hopes in November:

In Florida Obama’s approval is 39% with 55% of voters disapproving of him. 88% of Republicans disapprove while just 73% of Democrats approve and independents go against him by a 52/36 margin. Only 78% of people who voted for him in 2008 like the job he’s doing while 93% who voted against him disapprove.

In Pennsylvania Obama’s approval is 40% with 55% of voters disapproving of him. 85% of Republicans disapprove while just 68% of Democrats approve and independents go against him by a 63/32 margin. Only 78% of people who voted for him in 2008 like the job he’s doing while 93% who voted against him disapprove, identical numbers to Florida on that count.

In Ohio Obama’s approval is 42% with 54% of voters disapproving of him. 94% of Republicans disapprove while only 79% of Democrats approve and independents go against him by a 58/33 margin. Only 76% of people who voted for him in 2008 approve while 91% who voted against him disapprove.

Obviously it’s a long way from 2012 but these swing state numbers for Obama are pretty brutal and underscore why Democrats could lose a whole lot of House seats this year in those states.

In the words of Ella Fitzgerald, “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”

Uh-oh. Obama has a polling problem far worse than the one that shows 24% of Americans think he’s Muslim

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the 21 century’s answer to Jimmy Carter, along comes this poll from Rasmussen

Keep an eye on her, Barack, keep an eye on her

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the 21 century’s answer to Jimmy Carter, along comes this poll from Rasmussen:

Forty-eight percent (48%) of U.S. voters now regard President Obama’s political views as extreme. Forty-two percent (42%) place his views in the mainstream, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

By comparison, 51% see the views of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as mainstream. Thirty-five percent (35%) think Clinton’s views are extreme. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

There you go, President Obama – your legacy. You’ll go down in history as the first person who ever made someone as liberal as Hillary Clinton look mainstream.

The more people learn about the Ground Zero mosque, the less they like it

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 85% of U.S. voters say they are now following news stories about the mosque planned near Ground Zero. That’s a 34-point jump from a month ago when only 51% said they were following the story.

its-jihad-stupid
The Ground Zero mosque: What's not to love?

We have a friend who’s a real estate developer. He always “runs the numbers” to see if a project makes sense. We’re pretty sure he’s never had to factor in any poll numbers.

Rasmussen reports the negative news for the Ground Zero mosque:

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 85% of U.S. voters say they are now following news stories about the mosque planned near Ground Zero. That’s a 34-point jump from a month ago when only 51% said they were following the story.

The new finding includes 58% who are following the story very closely, up from 22% in mid-July.

Now 62% oppose the building of a mosque near where the World Trade Center stood in Lower Manhattan, compared to 54% in the previous survey. Twenty-five percent (25%) favor allowing the mosque to go ahead, and 13% more are not sure.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of the Political Class, however, favor building the mosque near Ground Zero. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Mainstream voters are opposed.

Just one more issue on which the people differ from the political class. Just one more reason November is going to be fun.

12 points! Republicans jump to biggest lead in history in Rasmussen’s generic congressional poll

Republican candidates have jumped out to a record-setting 12-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, August 15, 2010.

Tsunami alert! Tsunami alert! All Democrats should immediately move to higher ground.

Rasmussen has the ugly details:

There's a tsunami coming in November and it's going to sweep away a lot of Democrats

Republican candidates have jumped out to a record-setting 12-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, August 15, 2010. This is the biggest lead the GOP has held in over a decade of Rasmussen Reports surveying.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of Likely Voters would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 36% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. Support for Republicans is up two points from the previous week, while support for Democrats dropped three points.Republicans have led on the Generic Congressional Ballot since June of last year, and their lead hasn’t fallen below five points since the beginning of December. Three times this year, they’ve posted a 10-point lead. Prior to this survey, GOP support since June 2009 has ranged from 41% to 47%. Support for Democrats in the same period has run from 35% to 40%.

Eighty-three percent (83%) of Republicans back their party’s candidate, while 75% of Democrats support the candidate of their party. Voters not affiliated with either party prefer the GOP candidate by a 52% to 21% margin.Fifty-four percent (54%) of white voters favor the Republican, but 77% of African-Americans prefer the Democrat.

Obama’s doing poorly among the poor: Approval under 50% for the first time

The latest Gallup poll. It shows that every – repeat, every – income group now gives President Obama an approval rating of less than 50%.

Gulp.

That’s the sound being heard in the White House as they review the numbers in the latest Gallup poll. It shows that every – repeat, every – income group now gives President Obama an approval rating of less than 50%. Even those making less than $2,000 per month have finally tired of the guy.

This is the first time Obama that all four income groups in Gallup’s weekly survey gave Obama less than 50 percent approval.

Imagine how heartbreaking it must be when you finally realize that Obama’s not going to pay for your house and your gasoline.

Obama delivers on his promise of racial harmony: Everyone agrees that they like him less

Obama’s job approval ratings among blacks, whites, and Hispanics in July are all at their lowest levels to date, although the overwhelming majority of blacks still approve.

obama-rainbow-unicorn-racial-harmony
Rainbows, unicorns and racial harmony: It's all possible thanks to Barack Obama

There’s an interesting first paragraph in Gallup’s report on their latest survey of Obama’s approval. We say interesting because we think they could have skipped the first sentence and gone directly to the second sentence.

The first sentence:

President Obama’s job approval rating averaged 88% among blacks and 38% among whites in July, a 50-percentage-point difference that has been consistent in recent months but is much larger than in the initial months of the Obama presidency.

The second sentence, the one that should have started the story:

Obama’s job approval ratings among blacks, whites, and Hispanics in July are all at their lowest levels to date, although the overwhelming majority of blacks still approve.

Isn’t the real story here that Obama has hit new lows with every group?

Blacks’ approval of the job Obama is doing dipped below the 90% threshold for the second month in a row in July; the 88% July average is the lowest monthly average approval rating blacks have given Obama yet, although not significantly lower than the 89% recorded in June.

The slight drop in blacks’ ratings since May matches the pattern among whites and Hispanics. Obama’s June and July ratings among whites are the lowest monthly ratings of his administration among that group, as is his 54% July rating among Hispanics.

Whites’ approval of Obama is down 24 points from the high of 62% in January 2009. Hispanics’ approval has dropped 28 points from its 82% peak in May 2009. Blacks’ approval has been much more stable, falling seven points from the high of 95% in June 2009.

Of course, if 95% of whites disapproved of him, it would surely be a sign of America’s deep raaaacism. Pure, unadulterated raaaacism.

Welcome to America 2010, racist.

You just ignore those polls, President Obama. Life is good, socialism is wonderful and the economy is dandy.

Here’s why. These are just the polls found at the very top of Monday’s page. Let’s just sum it up by saying the trend is not the President’s friend.

Top ten reasons Obama’s poll numbers are lower than Al Gore’s tongue at a strip club

10. Hillary Clinton badmouths Obama at UN every chance she gets.
9. Hollywood celebs refuse to take pollsters’ calls.
8. Bush, Trilateral Commission, and Skull & Bones continue to rig votes at Gallop.

obama poll numbers down
The trend is not your friend, Mr. President.

In case you haven’t heard, President Barack Obama’s poll numbers are down. Way down. For example, 54% of the country thinks he’s doing a lousy job on the economy.

This has left the leftist media scrambling. Why are the President’s numbers so low when they’ve done all the could to get him elected and prop him up?

Fortunately, speculation is one thing the mainstream media is good at. Obama’s poll numbers are down because Americans are spoiled little brats. Or, because he hasn’t blamed Bush enough.

But there have to be other reasons. Which leads directly to our top ten reasons why Obama’s poll numbers are in the basement:

10. Hillary Clinton badmouths Obama at UN every chance she gets.
9. Hollywood celebs refuse to take pollsters’ calls.
8. Bush, Trilateral Commission, and Skull & Bones continue to rig votes at Gallop.
7. One word: white people are Racist with a capital R.
6. Obama’s hypnotic stare now known as just the way he looks when he reads the teleprompter.
5. Did we mention, “RACISM.”
4. Recovery Summer postponed due to oily beaches.
3. Lady Gaga’s failure to appear at White House office party has supporters miffed.
2. Years of poor public education resulted in miseducation. Wait a minute. Scratch that. Teachers unions are on Obama’s side.
1. Near monopoly of pro-Obama media is not total monopoly.

Who’s to blame for Obama’s collapsing poll numbers? Spoiled Americans like you.

Well, whatever you do, don’t blame Obama’s plunging poll numbers on his failed policies. Blame spoiled, idiot Americans like lib talker Bill Press does.

Press: I think this says more about the American people than it does about President Obama. I think it just shows once again that the American people are spoiled. Basically, spoiled– as a people, we are too critical. We are quick to rush to judgment, we are too negative, we are too impatient. Especially impatient. We want it all solved yesterday, and if you don’t, I don’t care who you are — get out of the way. And again, basically spoiled. To the point where it makes me wonder if it’s even possible to govern today. I gotta tell you, I don’t think Abraham Lincoln — who certainly didn’t get everything right the first time — could govern today. I’m not sure Franklin Roosevelt could govern today, the way we are again. Just about like spoiled children. And it’s Americans, and it’s the media, and if we don’t get instant gratification, then screw you is basically our attitude.

Press is right. Americans are too damn spoiled to know what’s good for themselves. That’s why it’s good that socialists like Press and Obama are willing to make those decisions for them.

Desperation: Juan Williams tries to find good news in Obama’s poll numbers

Juan Williams sees Obama’s dropping poll numbers as a repudiation of Republicans.

Boxer down for the count?

Every day’s a bad hair day for Barbara Boxer, but Thursday was also a bad poll day for the embattled California Democrat.

Every day’s a bad hair day for Barbara Boxer, but Thursday was also a bad poll day for the embattled California Democrat.

Reuters reports the remarkable turnaround for Republican candidate Carly Fiorina:

Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer’s edge over Republican challenger Carly Fiorina has dwindled to 3 points as she seeks re-election in November, with more Californians now holding an unfavorable view of the three-term senator, a poll released on Thursday showed.

Boxer, who once held a 30-point lead over Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard and a political novice, is now ahead by a margin of only 47 percent to 44 percent, the Field Poll found.

What’s even more surprising is that Fiorina has moved up so quickly while still remaining relatively unknown to California voters. Of course, we may be looking at that from the wrong perspective, because it may well be that Boxer has moved down because she isn’t unknown to the voters.

Remarkably, the brilliant Ms. Boxer decided to launch her campaign with a speech touting job creation in a state with a 12.4% unemployment rate, third highest in the nation.

Her days of telling people to call her “Senator” may be numbered.

Remember those independents who elected President Obama? The ones who had supposedly joined with the Democrats to create an enduring new majority? Say bye-bye, Barack.

Gallup has the news of the independents’ new found independence:

Thirty-eight percent of independents approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as president, the first time independent approval of Obama has dropped below 40% in a Gallup Daily tracking weekly aggregate. Meanwhile, Obama maintains the support of 81% of Democrats, and his job approval among Republicans remains low, at 12%.

Over the past year, Obama has lost support among all party groups, though the decline has been steeper among independents than among Republicans or Democrats. Today’s 38% approval rating among independents is 18 percentage points lower than the 56% found July 6-12, 2009. During the same period, his support has fallen nine points among Democrats (from 90% to 81%) and eight points among Republicans (from 20% to 12%).

At the rate this guy is going, even Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will vote Republican in November.

We hate the media. You hate the media. Damn near everyone hates the media.

IHateTheMedia.com has been up and running for a mere 17 months and 66% of American voters now agree that they also hate the media.

As highly-trained mathematicians, we were quickly able to determine that 100% of the nation’s voters will agree with us in another 8 months and three weeks.

Rasmussen reveals the details of IHateTheMedia.com’s vast influence:

Sixty-six percent (66%) of U.S. voters describe themselves as at least somewhat angry at the media, including 33% who are Very Angry.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 31% say they are not angry at the media, but that includes just nine percent (9%) who say they are not at all angry.

…But voters have consistently said in surveys that they believe the national media has a liberal bias and that most reporters try to help the candidates they want to win. Just before Election Day 2008, 51% said most reporters were trying to help Barack Obama win the presidency. Just seven percent (7%) thought they were trying to help John McCain, while 31% viewed their coverage as unbiased.

Now 48% of voters think most reporters when they write or talk about President Obama are trying to help the president pass his agenda. Only 18% think most reporters are trying to block the president from passing his agenda. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say they are simply interested in reporting the news in an unbiased manner.

Thank you. Thank you very much. We appreciate your support and please rest assured that we will continue our battle for truth, justice and the American way. At least until we can sell this damn thing to Salem Communications for millions of dollars. Or thousands. We might be willing to settle for thousands. Make us an offer.

MSNBC wants to know what you think of Arizona’s anti-illegal alien law

The left wing lunatics at MSNBC.com are running a poll, but the results are not what they expected. Not even close. “Do you support Arizona’s tough new law on illegal immigration?”

msnbc-poll-arizona-law

The left wing lunatics at MSNBC.com are running a poll, but the results are not what they expected. Not even close.

Do you support Arizona’s tough new law on illegal immigration?

In July, Arizona will begin enforcing a new law that requires law enforcement officers to check someone’s immigration status if they have reason to suspect that he or she is in the country illegally. Do you think this is a good idea?

At the time this story was written almost 600,000 votes have already been cast and the tally was “Yes” 95.6%, “No” 4.4%

You can participate in the poll by clicking on this link.

Let’s see if we can give Keith Olbermann a stroke by pushing “Yes” all the way up to 99% of the vote.

LA Times skews report of its own poll, says California voters “closely divided” on Arizona’s illegal alien law

Those intrepid, unbiased reporters at the Los Angeles Times have done it again. They call a 7% difference in opinion on the Arizona law “closely divided”, but heralded Barack Obama’s identical 7% margin a “decisive victory”.

los angeles times obama decisive victory Those intrepid, unbiased reporters at the Los Angeles Times have done it again. And we quote:

California voters are closely divided over the crackdown on illegal immigration in Arizona, with sharp splits along lines of ethnicity and age, according to a new Los Angeles Times/USC poll.

Overall, 50% of registered voters surveyed said they support the law, which compels police to check the immigration status of those they suspect are in the country illegally, while 43% oppose it. That level of support is lower than polls have indicated nationwide.

So now the Times calls a 7% difference “closely divided”, but heralded Barack Obama’s identical 7% margin a “decisive victory.”

Of course, the Times poll surveyed registered voters, so we can safely assume that a poll of likely voters would have skewed even more conservative and increase the margin of support for Arizona’s law.

Interestingly, the staff and management here at IHateTheMedia.com is “closely divided” on the Los Angeles Times. 50% of us think it should be used to wrap fish, but 43% think it should be used to line bird cages.

But please keep in mind that we only surveyed registered voters, not likely voters.

96% of Americans strongly disapprove of Obama and think the country’s less safe than it was before 9/11

So there you have it. 44% strongly disapprove of President Obama and 52% say the country is not safer today than it was before 9/11. As highly-trained statisticians, we feel quite comfortable saying that 96% of Americans disapprove of Obama and think we’re less safe than we were.

smug-obama
96% disapproval. You call it a lie, we call it a statistic.

There’s an old saying that there are lies, damned lies and statistics. This story will prove it.

According to Rasmussen, “The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove.”

Another Rasmussen study said, “Confidence in America’s efforts in the War on Terror has fallen again this month, and, following the unsuccessful terrorist bombing attempt in New York’s Times Square, more voters than ever now believe the nation is not safer today than it was before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks…. Fifty-two percent (52%) say the country is not safer today, up from 42% a month ago and the highest level measured over the past three years.”

So there you have it. 44% strongly disapprove of President Obama and 52% say the country is not safer today than it was before 9/11. As highly-trained statisticians, we feel quite comfortable saying that 96% of Americans disapprove of Obama and think we’re less safe than we were.

So let’s amend that old line we quoted at the beginning of this story. In the America of 2010, it should probably read, “There are lies, damned lies, and Barack Obama, who is the biggest liar of them all and the American people are finally figuring it out.”

Or something like that.

Barack Obama is alienating some of the Democrat party's most reliable voters

Things are not kosher between Barack Obama and America’s Jewish voters. The Democrat party has had an iron grip on America’s Jewish voters for generations, but it looks like that’s slipping away.

Israel National News reports the news:

United States President Barack Obama has lost nearly half of his support among American Jews, a poll by the McLaughlin Group has shown.
The US Jews polled were asked whether they would: (a) vote to re-elect Obama, or (b) consider voting for someone else. 42% said they would vote for Obama and 46%, a plurality, preferred the second answer. 12% said they did not know or refused to answer.

In the Presidential elections of 2008, 78% of Jewish voters, or close to 8 out of 10, chose Obama. The McLaughlin poll held nearly 18 months later, in April 2010, appears to show that support down to around 4 out of 10.
The poll showed that key voter segments including Orthodox/Hassidic voters, Conservative voters, voters who have friends and family in Israel and those who have been to Israel, are all more likely to consider voting for someone other than Obama.

What’s the problem? So what if Barack Obama spent 20 years in the church of anti-Semitic minister Jeremiah Wright. So what if he attended anti-Semitic lunatic Louis Farrakhan’s Million Man March. So what if he ordered Israelis to stop building apartments in their own country. So what if he refused to have his photo taken with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu? So what if his administration denied visas to top Israeli scientists? So what if he’s working with the U.N. Security Council to strip Israel of its nuclear weapons?

Damn Jews really hold a grudge.

A brand spankin’ new USA Today/Gallup poll reveals that 9 out of 10 Americans pretty much agree with those right wing, tea baggin’, racist, Nazi, Republicans from Arizona.

They’d like the federal government to get off its duff and secure the damn border.

CNSnews.com has more of the results:

Similarly, 61 percent of Americans say they are very concerned that illegal immigrants are putting an unfair burden on U.S. schools, hospitals, and government services.

Gallup asked respondents whether it was extremely important, very important, moderately important, or not that important to them that the U.S. government take steps this year to control the border to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the country. Only 10 percent said it was not that important. Eighty-nine percent said it was moderately to extremely important, with 42 percent saying it was extremely important, 26 percent saying it was very important, and 21 percent saying it was moderately important.

Let’s do a little math. There are 300,000,000 Americans. And it’s been estimated that there may be as many as 25,000,000 illegal aliens. So if nine out of ten people want the border secured, the odds are pretty high that the tenth guy was an illegal alien.

America hates the media: 55% say media bias bigger problem in politics than big contributions

Dan Rather media bias It’s been a long, arduous journey for IHateTheMedia.com. There were times in the last 15 months when we thought we’d never succeed in our mad dream of convincing America that the media is a worthy object of their hate.

Then we saw this research from Rasmussen and realized that all is right with the world:

Voters agree that big money talks in politics but apparently not as loudly as big media.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of U.S. voters continue to think that media bias is a bigger problem in politics today than big campaign contributions, identical to the finding in August 2008.

Thirty-two percent (32%) say big contributions are the bigger problem, but that’s down four points from the previous survey. Thirteen percent (13%) more are not sure.

…Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Republicans and 62% of unaffiliated voters say media bias is the bigger problem in politics, a view shared by just 37% of Democrats. The plurality (46%) of Democrats says campaign contributions are a bigger problem.

Sixty-five percent (65%) of Mainstream voters and 54% of the Political Class agree that the bigger problem facing politics is media bias.

55% of America hates the media. Which is only fair, we suppose, since the media seems to hate America.

Obama approval number ties all-time low on day before ObamaCare “vote”

Through outright bribery and/or threats to reveal photos of recalcitrant Democrats in compromising positions with farm animals, Obama is on the verge of having enough votes to cram this bloated pig of a bill down he throats of an unwilling electorate.

obama approval ratings

Earth to Obama: the American people don’t want your stinkin’ healthcare plan.

Ahhh, who do we think we’re kidding. This president doesn’t give a good god damn what the American people want.

Here’s how Rasmussen describes the situation:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21. That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President.

Each time the President leads a big push for his health care plan, his job approval ratings suffer. While some portions of the plan are popular, others are not. Most voters oppose the proposed Medicare savings and the taxes involved. As a result, most voters continue to oppose the legislation. Just 20% of voters believe that most Members of Congress will understand the proposed health care bill before they vote on it. From a political perspective, 50% are less likely to vote for a Member of Congress who supports the health care reform plan proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats.

Nevertheless, through outright bribery and/or threats to reveal photos of recalcitrant Democrats in compromising positions with farm animals, Obama is on the verge of having enough votes to cram this bloated pig of a bill down he throats of an unwilling electorate.

Consider this the Democrats version of democracy in action.

After promising that jobs were job #1, then immediately returning to the health care debate, President Obama has seen his approval numbers slump to an all-time low.

Rasmussen reports the lastest numbers:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 22% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21. That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President…

Forty-two percent (42%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 72% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, 17% Strongly Approve and 45% Strongly Disapprove.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) believe that passage of the proposed health care legislation will hurt the economy. Just 25% believe it will help.

Prepare yourself to see this story repeated countless times in the months ahead. The only difference will be new lows.
