He should name it Hollywood Pork: Texas farmer holds pig races next to new mosque

A group of Muslims bought some land in Texas, but apparently never bothered to check out how the neighboring land was being used. That was an unfortunate lapse…

This story is from 2008, but we’d never seen it until it was emailed to us by Miles, the Editor’s tax guy:

A group of Muslims bought some land in Texas, but apparently never bothered to check out how the neighboring land was being used. That was an unfortunate lapse, because the land adjacent to the planned mosque was a pig farm.

The owner of the pig farm got pissed off when the Imam called him a liar at a local planning commission meeting. So instead of getting rid of his pigs he built a track and began training the porkers to race. Now he holds pig races each week during the mosque’s Friday night services.

The pig races are pretty funny on their own, but as far as we’re concerned, the highlight of the video clip is right at the beginning when Shep Smith tries to keep a straight face while his production crew cracks up in the background.

Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, MI
November 18, 2010 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM

Fred Phelps and the WBC will picket the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, MI, the largest mosque in North America, to remind the idolatrous, doomed Muslims that Mohammed was a pedophile and a false prophet. Like most other false religious systems of modern doomed america, Islam teaches rebellion against the Lord Jesus Christ. Muslims claim Christ was merely a prophet and that He did not die and live again. They claim His blood is not sufficient or even necessary for salvation. They shall learn the truth when Christ himself returns!

C’mon, HBO. There’s still time to get Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant and Harold Lederman to Dearborn in time to call the action.

Hate crime! Hate crime! Jar of nails found in mosque’s driveway!

CAIR-NY said someone threw a jar of nails near the entrance of a Huntington, N.Y., mosque Wednesday night. It’s being investigated as a hate crime.

Find nails in your driveway and it’s a hate crime. Find nails in everyone’s driveway but yours and it’s discrimination.

CAIR, the lunatics who bitch and moan about every perceived and imagined Islamic insult, have come up with a new one.

A tip from CAIR: Notify the FBI next time you find a nail in your driveway

The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today called on the FBI to investigate a nail attack on a mosque in that state as a possible hate crime.

CAIR-NY said someone threw a jar of nails near the entrance of a Huntington, N.Y., mosque Wednesday night. The jar broke and nails were scattered in the area of the mosque’s driveway. Suffolk County police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. Representatives of the mosque say other possibly bias-motivated incidents have occurred in recent months.

State and national religious and political leaders must address the rising number of hate incidents targeting American Muslims and their institutions,” said CAIR-NY Community Affairs Director Faiza N. Ali. “We urge the FBI to add its resources to the investigation of this troubling incident.”

The Editor found a nail in his front left tire last week. Apparently he converted to Islam and didn’t know it and was, therefore, the victim of a nail attack slash hate crime.

That being said, we find ourselves agreeing with CAIR. Throwing nails in front of a mosque was wrong. The perpetrator should have throw box cutters instead.

"I didn't say I'd voted. I said I'd boated. Yeah, that's it. That's what I said."

The leader of the Ground Zero mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, yesterday said he’s a loyal American, and cited his voting record to prove it.

The only problem is that, according to Board of Elections records, Rauf hasn’t voted since 2001. In fact, New Jersey records show that he’s no longer registered in his home state, The Post has learned.

“I vote in elections, I pay taxes, I pledge allegiance to the flag, and I am a Giants fan — I am glad they won yesterday,” Rauf quipped during a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations yesterday.

But New Jersey records show that Rauf, once a registered Democrat, voted last in November, 2001, when Jim McGreevey was elected governor.

Of course, he was a registered Democrat. We wouldn’t have guessed anything else.

New poll proves that conservatives aren’t anti-Muslim

If, as liberals would have you believe, conservatives are rabidly anti-Muslim, they would certainly be against having mosques in their own neighborhoods. But a tidbit buried in a new Newsweek poll shows just the opposite.

CBS4 in Miami reveals the interesting Islamic insights:

Site of the newest mosque in Washington, DC?

A new Newsweek poll of registered voters highlights the divide between Republicans, Democrats, and Independents over the issue of Islam and President Barack Obama.

According to the poll, 51 percent of Republicans think it’s definitely or probably true that President Obama ”sympathizes with the goals of Islamic fundamentalists who want to impose Islamic law around the world.”

In addition, 59 percent of Republicans and 28 percent of political independents think “Obama favors the interests of Muslim Americans over other groups of Americans.”

The poll results come as conservative circles have exploded in furor over a proposed Muslim community center that would be built a few blocks away from the former home of the World Trade Center. However, the poll found that 72 percent said it would be okay if a Muslim group wanted to build a mosque in their community.

In response, a liberal spokesman said, “Yeah, but…yeah, but…yeah, but….”

katie-couric-ratings

The network newscast ratings for last week are in and “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric” tied its all-time low in total viewers with an average of 4.89 million tuning in during the five days.
The low was set last June, when ABC also hit its own low. (Ratings records date back to the 1991-’92 season.) Last week, NBC averaged 7.42 million total viewers and ABC averaged 6.51 million.

Erica Hill filled in on Tuesday and Harry Smith was in Wednesday. Couric anchored from New York Monday and from Afghanistan on Thursday and Friday.

Long gone are the days when news anchors went to war zones to improve their ratings. War zones are apparently safer than news rooms on the day the ratings come out.

The more people learn about the Ground Zero mosque, the less they like it

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 85% of U.S. voters say they are now following news stories about the mosque planned near Ground Zero. That’s a 34-point jump from a month ago when only 51% said they were following the story.

The new finding includes 58% who are following the story very closely, up from 22% in mid-July.

Now 62% oppose the building of a mosque near where the World Trade Center stood in Lower Manhattan, compared to 54% in the previous survey. Twenty-five percent (25%) favor allowing the mosque to go ahead, and 13% more are not sure.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of the Political Class, however, favor building the mosque near Ground Zero. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Mainstream voters are opposed.

Just one more issue on which the people differ from the political class. Just one more reason November is going to be fun.

If you don’t build it, they won’t come: Construction workers won’t work on Ground Zero mosque

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.

Remember the Reagan Democrats? That’s what they called groups of traditional Democrat voters who voted for Ronald Reagan. Union workers, for example, voted for Reagan and against Democrats en masse.

That may be what we’re seeing the beginnings of as a result of the Ground Zero mosque controversy.

The New York Daily News has the details:

construction worker against mosque
Hard hats are going to make it hard to build the Ground Zero mosque

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.

“It’s a very touchy thing because they want to do this on sacred ground,” said Dave Kaiser, 38, a blaster who is working to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

“I wouldn’t work there, especially after I found out about what the imam said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11,” Kaiser said.

The grass-roots movement is gaining momentum on the Internet. One construction worker created the “Hard Hat Pledge” on his blog and asked others to vow not to work on the project if it stays on Park Place.

“Thousands of people are signing up from all over the country,” said creator Andy Sullivan, a construction worker from Brooklyn. “People who sell glass, steel, lumber, insurance. They are all refusing to do work if they build there.”

“Hopefully, this will be a tool to get them to move it,” he said. “I got a problem with this ostentatious building looming over Ground Zero.”

Can’t wait to hear Democrats say that those damn construction workers are nothing but racists. Or maybe Nazis. Or maybe both.

This California congressional candidate is a real Star

Star Parker is running for Congress in California, which is several steps up from her former role on The View. She’s a conservative and the district is liberal, so she probably won’t win. But if that’s the case, California will be the real loser.

star parker black conservative woman
Star Parker, probably too conservative for California

Star Parker is running for Congress in California. She’s a conservative and the district is liberal, so she probably won’t win. But if that’s the case, California will be the real loser.

Speaking recently of the planned Ground Zero mosque, Parker laid it on the line.

“Americans don’t need any lessons about freedom and tolerance. Millions of Muslim Americans live, prosper and practice their faith freely in our country. According to a Google search, there are about 2,000 mosques in the United States. We have one Muslim American member of Congress who took his oath of office with his hand on the Koran. Many American universities have programs where students can learn about Islam, including Columbia in New York City.”

Speaking of President Obama’s belief that Americans “somehow bore some responsibility for the antipathy toward us in the Islamic world and that outreach would help”, Parker said, “As Johns Hopkins University Middle East Scholar Fouad Ajami pointed out in The Wall Street Journal, Obama’s outreach program has accomplished only diminished respect for us in the Islamic world. Antipathy continues to run high and unchanged and it’s not because there something wrong with us. It’s because, as Ajami writes, the U.S. is a convenient scapegoat for nations and rulers that refuse to address their own problems.”

And finally Parker tells Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the $100 million dollar effort to build the Ground Zero mosque, “Of the 17 nations that Freedom House rates the ‘worst of the worst’ regarding their state of freedom, six are Islamic nations. Feisal Abdul Rauf should spend his $100 million – wherever it’s coming from – to advance the cause of freedom in Islamic countries. That is where the problem is, not here.”

We’re just guessing, but we think that the average American could really appreciate someone in Congress with the … uhhh … political will to give a speech like that.

We originally published this story with a reference to Star Parker being on the The View. Our mistake, that was Star Jones.

She loves President Obama, but she’s against the Ground Zero mosque. Yet she has somehow convinced herself that those two positions aren’t contradictory.

The bikini-clad hottie took time out of her busy Miss Universe pageant schedule to wax philosophically:

“I totally agree with President Obama with the statement on the constitutional rights of freedom of religion,” said Fakih.
But the 24-year-old says while she supports freedom of religion in America, the people behind the mosque should consider the feelings of the families who lost loved ones on 9/11.
”It shouldn’t be so close to the World Trade Center. We should be more concerned with the tragedy than religion,” said Fakih.

Ladies and gentlemen, Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih. No fat, no fatwa.

ground zero mosque associated press
Let's not call it the Ground Zero mosque because it's sooooo far away from Ground Zero

Aug. 19, 2010

Colleagues,

Here is some guidance on covering the NYC mosque story, with assists from Chad Roedemeier in the NYC bureau and Terry Hunt in Washington:

1. We should continue to avoid the phrase “ground zero mosque” or “mosque at ground zero” on all platforms. (We’ve very rarely used this wording, except in slugs, though we sometimes see other news sources using the term.) The site of the proposed Islamic center and mosque is not at ground zero, but two blocks away in a busy commercial area. We should continue to say it’s “near” ground zero, or two blocks away.

WE WILL CHANGE OUR SLUG ON THIS STORY LATER TODAY from “BC-Ground Zero Mosque” to “BC-NYC Mosque.”

In short headlines, some ways to refer to the project include:
• mosque 2 blocks from WTC site

• Muslim (or Islamic) center near WTC site

• mosque near ground zero

• mosque near WTC site

We can refer to the project as a mosque, or as a proposed Islamic center that includes a mosque.

Call it what you want, Tom, but the American people are going to call it the Ground Zero mosque.

Some critics have said the ultimate victory for Osama and the 9/11 hijackers would be to allow a mosque to be built near ground zero.

Actually, the ultimate victory for Osama and the 9/11 hijackers is the moral timidity that would ban a mosque from that neighborhood.

No, Maureen, you’re wrong. Very wrong. Osama’s ultimate victory would be the subjugation of every Christian, every Jew, every Hindu, every non-Muslim. Falling short of that, his back-up goal would be to slice their throats.

The ultimate victory here at IHTM would be for Maureen Dowd to use a photo on her column that was taken in the last two decades.

Uh-oh. Looks like Nancy Pelosi’s campaign to investigate those who are against the Ground Zero mosque won’t be getting any support from former DNC head Howard Dean.

“I gotta believe there has to be a compromise here,” Dean told WABC Radio. “This isn’t about the rights of Muslims to have a worship center or Jews or Christians or anybody else to have a place to worship anywhere near Ground Zero. This is something we ought to be able to work out with people of good faith. And we have to realize that it is a real affront to people who lost their lives – including Muslims. That site doesn’t belong to an particular religion. It belongs to all Americans and all faiths. So I think a good, reasonable compromise could be worked out without violating the principal that people out to be able to worship as they see fit…I think another site might be a good idea.”

In other words, move the mosque.

Is Dylan Ratigan duplicitous? Or merely disingenuous?

The topic was the Ground Zero mosque and Ratigan – surprise – supports the structure. He opined that New Yorkers like himself who walk past ground zero every day have no problem with the mosque.

Granted, pointing out hypocrisy on MSNBC is like shooting fish in a barrel, but sometimes it’s even easier than that. Sometimes the fish are already dead and just floating on top. Like on Monday’s Dylan Ratigan Show.

Dylan Ratigan gives Michelle Obama's resume a little "enhancement" here and there

The topic was the Ground Zero mosque and Ratigan – surprise – supports the structure. He opined that New Yorkers like himself who walk past ground zero every day have no problem with the mosque. It’s the people outside of the city, “like people from Alaska that say, ‘Oh my God, the sky is falling, the Muslims are going to kill us’ who stand against the building.”

After the cheap attempt to slag a quote on Sarah Palin for something that she never said, Ratigan offered no proof showing residents of the area agree with the building of the mosque. But this is MSNBC, where truth is irrelevant and facts are merely bothersome.

Ratigan suggested that people outside of NYC are clueless, that their opinions are uninformed and thus matter less than local residents’.

Contrast this with the same network’s coverage of Arizona’s anti-illegal alien law. Are the voices of the Arizona residents who live in danger because of elevated crime rates more relevant than the collective voices of the MSNBC hosts, all of whom stand in support of the federal government’s opposition to the Arizona law?

Will Ratigan’s network stop calling Arizonans who support the bill racists, since they live there and thus know better than outsiders?

The question is rhetorical, of course.

“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City.”

And is it just us or does she seem a little too flippant about buying her daughter a mosque-shaped alarm clock?
