Pollster Frank Luntz offers up evidence that 2010 is going to be the best damn year since 1994. Unless you’re a Democrat.
Pollster Frank Luntz offers up evidence that 2010 is going to be the best damn year since 1994. Unless you’re a Democrat.
Luntz: I will tell you two things will happen. One is that everyone who is opposed to this (Obamacare) will positively come out and vote because they will feel that it is not only their right but their responsibility to send a message and two, you will see democrats defeated in places that haven’t elected a Republican since 1994.
52 percent of Americans said President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve reelection in 2012, according to a new poll. 44 percent of all Americans said they would vote to reelect the president in two and a half years, less than the slight majority who said they would prefer to elect someone else.
Keep talking, President Obama. It's really working out well for you.
According to a new CNN/Opinion Research survey, 52% of Americans think Obama’s doing such a lousy job that they wouldn’t vote for him for dogcatcher. We paraphrase, of course, but that’s the gist of the survey.
Specifically, it said, “52 percent of Americans said President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve reelection in 2012, according to a new poll. 44 percent of all Americans said they would vote to reelect the president in two and a half years, less than the slight majority who said they would prefer to elect someone else.
“Obama faces a 44-52 deficit among both all Americans and registered voters, according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Tuesday. Four percent had no opinion.”
Unbeknownst to most media outlets, ACORN conducted a simultaneous survey. It found that 103% of all voters would vote for Obama twice, maybe three times, and that 108% of all conservatives are racists.
A new Rasmussen study that shows only 35% of Americans still believe in man-made global warming. When you subtract out all the people who make money off this colossal scam, we estimate that the resulting figure is about 2%.
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
A new Rasmussen study that shows only 35% of Americans still believe in man-made global warming. When you subtract out all the people who make money off this colossal scam, we estimate that the resulting figure is about 2%.
Here are the details from Rasmussen:
Questions continue to mount over the science behind years of studies that say humans are chiefly to blame for global warming. But reflecting a trend that has been going on for more than a year, just 35% of U.S. voters now believe global warming is caused primarily by human activity.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 47% think long-term planetary trends are mostly to blame, down three points from the previous survey in January. Eight percent say there is some other reason, and 10% aren’t sure.
But 56% say President Obama still believes that human activity is the main cause of global warming. That’s the highest finding on that question since last March. The president went to a United Nations summit in Copenhagen in December in hopes of reaching an international agreement that would limit human activities that some scientists say contribute to global warming.
Thirty-five percent? Hell, Al, you could find a higher percentage of people who believe in flying saucers. And with good reason.
Businessman Danny Tarkanian now leads Reid 47% to 39%. Sue Lowden, ex-chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, holds a 45% to 39% lead on the Senate majority leader, while former Assemblywoman Sharron Angle earns 44% of the vote to Reid’s 40%.
OK, we made up the part about the Whig and the Druid. But since everyone who’s even thinking about getting into the Nevada senate race now outpolls Reid, we suspect a Whig and a Druid would also be favored over Reid.
Here’s how Rasmussen reports Reid’s imminent retirement:
Businessman Danny Tarkanian now leads Reid 47% to 39%. Sue Lowden, ex-chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, holds a 45% to 39% lead on the Senate majority leader, while former Assemblywoman Sharron Angle earns 44% of the vote to Reid’s 40%.
Nevada Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki, another Republican who is now reportedly considering entering the race, barely edges Reid 44% to 41%. A judge in December dismissed an indictment against Krolicki alleging that he mishandled money while serving as state treasurer. Krolicki charged that the indictment was politically motivated.
And now we bid a fond farewell to the soft spoken Reid with Roy Rogers’ and Dale Evans’ rendition of Happy Trails To You.
As Casey Kasem might have said on American Top 40, “This one’s goin’ out to Harry Reid in Las Vegas, Nevada.”
Remember a year or so ago when Keith Olbermann bragged about his ratings on the air? Don’t expect to see a replay of that show anytime soon.
Keith Olbermann's audience is abandoning him like he's a baby girl in China
Remember a year or so ago when Keith Olbermann bragged about his ratings on the air? Don’t expect to see a replay of that show anytime soon.
Daily Finance reports the details:
Keith Olbermann was already a renowned sportscaster when he rose to prominence as a political commentator. This was during the Bush Administration, when the left was badly in need of a forceful voice to rally around. Such was his popularity that MSNBC reoriented its entire primetime lineup around it.
But now the Democrats control Congress and the White House, and there are creeping indications that the world may not have quite as much need of — or patience for — Olbermann and his shtick as it once did.
Ratings for Olbermann’s Countdown have been soft recently, and the 8 p.m. shows on CNN and HLN have narrowed the gap. In the important demographic of adults 25 to 54 — the group advertisers are looking to reach — Countdown was down 44% year-over-year in January. It averaged 268,000 viewers in that demo, only 3,000 more than Nancy Grace’s show on HLN, and 12,000 more than CNN’s Campbell Brown. Fox News’s O’Reilly Factor dominated the hour with 964,000 viewers age 25 to 54, and was the only cable news show in the time period to increase its audience, by 55%.
Olbermann can console himself with the fact that he still has highest ratings at MSNBC. Of course, that’s kind of like bragging that you’re the tallest Munchkin.
ObamaCare is a disaster. Cash-for-Clunkers has become an embarrassing boondoggle. Cap-and-Trade is flailing in the wind. Amnesty is a pipedream. Obama is plummeting in the polls. And even the lovesick media is starting to figure out that this guy is an empty suit.
The thrill is gone, baby. The thrill is gone.
Here’s B.B. King and Gary Moore doing King’s blues classic.
Damn it. Now what’s CNN going to do with all that stationery that says “The Most Trusted Name In News”?
The chant goes up at CNN: "We're number two! We're number two! We're number two!"
Damn it. Now what’s CNN going to do with all that stationery that says “The Most Trusted Name In News”?
Politico reports a survey that’s nothing but bad news for the original cable news network:
A Public Policy Polling nationwide survey of 1,151 registered voters Jan. 18-19 found that 49 percent of Americans trusted Fox News, 10 percentage points more than any other network.
Thirty-seven percent said they didn’t trust Fox, also the lowest level of distrust that any of the networks recorded.
There was a strong partisan split among those who said they trusted Fox — with 74 percent of Republicans saying they trusted the network, while only 30 percent of Democrats said they did.
CNN was the second-most-trusted network, getting the trust of 39 percent of those polled. Forty-one percent said they didn’t trust CNN.
Each of the three major networks was trusted by less than 40 percent of those surveyed, with NBC ranking highest at 35 percent. Forty-four percent said they did not trust NBC, which was combined with its sister cable station MSNBC.
Thirty-two percent of respondents said they trusted CBS, while 31 percent trusted ABC. Both CBS and ABC were not trusted by 46 percent of those polled.
The White House is expected to dispute the validity of the survey because, of course, Fox is not a real news network and, therefore, couldn’t possibly be trusted by anyone.
Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That’s down four points since Tuesday morning and matches the lowest level of overall approval yet recorded for this President.
“I’m down. I’m Really down. I’m down. Down on the ground. I’m down. I’m really down. How can you laugh when you know I’m down?”
Rasmussen reports the latest on President Obama’s hope and change:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmsTT9bvWIg “Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That’s down four points since Tuesday morning and matches the lowest level of overall approval yet recorded for this President. Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters now disapprove. The number of Democrats who approve has fallen from 84% on Tuesday morning to 78% today.”
Uh-oh. We’re running out of “down” songs, but we suspect we’ll need a few more in the coming months.
That major shift to the left that was supposedly heralded by the election of Barack Obama seems to have fizzled in a big way. Self-identified conservatives now hold a 2-to-1 lead over liberals in a new Gallup poll.
That major shift to the left that was supposedly heralded by the election of Barack Obama seems to have fizzled in a big way. Self-identified conservatives now hold a 2-to-1 lead over liberals in a new Gallup poll.
Here’s how Gallup tells the liberals’ tale of woe:
The increased conservatism that Gallup first identified among Americans last June persisted throughout the year, so that the final year-end political ideology figures confirm Gallup’s initial reporting: conservatives (40%) outnumbered both moderates (36%) and liberals (21%) across the nation in 2009.
More broadly, the percentage of Americans calling themselves either conservative or liberal has increased over the last decade, while the percentage of moderates has declined.
C’mon, President Obama, you can do it. Keep doing what you’re doing and you can get that conservative number up over 50%.
The American people hold you in such low regard that they think 535 people randomly chosen from the phone book could do a better job running the country.
Bad news for congress. Especially the Democrats who control the House and Senate.
The American people hold you in such low regard that they think 535 people randomly chosen from the phone book could do a better job running the country.
Rasmussen reports the demoralizing details for Democrats:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 45% of likely U.S. voters now think a group of people selected at random from the phone book would do a better job addressing the nation’s problems than the current Congress. That’s up 12 points from October 2008, just before the last congressional elections. Thirty-six percent (36%) disagree, and another 19% are not sure.
Rasmussen continues:
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters now say Congress is doing a poor job. That’s the highest negative finding since Rasmussen Reports began surveying on the question in November 2006.
The phone book? Hell, 535 random criminals, derelicts and perverts could do a better job. But it would be tough to tell the difference.
Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Tuesday night that he would retire rather than run for reelection this year, a surprise move that imperils the Democrats’ 60-seat majority next year.
We won't miss Byron Dorgan, but we will miss his comb-over
Reality has left the building over at Politico.com. Here’s how they reported the announcement by North Dakota’s Byron Dorgan announcement that he was retiring from the senate:
Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Tuesday night that he would retire rather than run for reelection this year, a surprise move that imperils the Democrats’ 60-seat majority next year.
Dorgan wasn’t facing serious opposition in what would have been a campaign for his fourth term, but North Dakota’s popular Republican Gov. John Hoeven is considering a bid and was leading in early polls.
No serious opposition? To say that Hoeven is leading in the early polls is like saying the Indians had a slight lead on Custer. Here’s how Rasmussen reports that non-serious opposition:
Incumbent Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan may have a serious problem on his hands if Republicans recruit Governor John Hoeven to run for the U.S. Senate in North Dakota next year.
The first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 telephone survey of likely voters in North Dakota finds the popular Republican governor leading Dorgan by 22 points – 58% to 36%. Just six percent (6%) are undecided in that senatorial contest.
Other polls show Dorgan trailing by more than 30 points. How much more serious can the opposition get, Politico?
Robert Gibbs, the Smarmiest Press Secretary In History, scoffs at the president’s plunging poll numbers and warns reporters that an over-reliance on the daily polls is “unproductive.”
Robert Gibbs, the Smarmiest Press Secretary In History, scoffs at the president’s plunging poll numbers and warns reporters that an over-reliance on the daily polls is “unproductive.”
Absolutely correct. Those daily polls are just snapshots in time that prove nothing. What we should all be looking at are monthly numbers. They’re the ones that prove the real trends.
Uh-oh.
Rasmussen reports Obama’s ominous decline:
When tracking President Obama’s job approval on a daily basis, people sometimes get so caught up in the day-to-day fluctuations that they miss the bigger picture. To look at the longer-term trends, Rasmussen Reports compiles the numbers on a full-month basis, and the results can be seen in the graphics below.
The president’s Approval Index ratings fell three points in December following two-point declines in both October and November.
We’re tempted to say the President is on a roller coaster ride, but roller coasters go up once in a while.
American voters want to break out the waterboard for Nigerian underpants bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Or worse. Whatever it takes to get him to spill his guts.
We'll volunteer to conduct the waterboard interrogation. So would lots of other Americans.
American voters want to break out the waterboard for Nigerian underpants bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Or worse. Whatever it takes to get him to spill his guts.
Rasmussen reports the demoralizing details for Democrats:
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of U.S. voters say waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation techniques should be used to gain information from the terrorist who attempted to bomb an airliner on Christmas Day.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 30% oppose the use of such techniques, and another 12% are not sure.
Men and younger voters are more strongly supportive of the aggressive interrogation techniques than women and those who are older. Republicans and voters not affiliated with either major party favor their use more than Democrats.
Seventy-one percent (71%) of all voters think the attempt by the Nigerian Muslim to blow up the airliner as it landed in Detroit should be investigated by military authorities as a terrorist act. Only 22% say it should be handled by civilian authorities as a criminal act, as is currently the case.
We’d say squeeze his nuts in a vise until he coughs up everything he knows. Unfortunately, that won’t be possible because his own pork and beans were the only thing this moron damaged in his attempted attack.
We don’t need Jack Bauer here. We need Oscar Meyer.
For the second straight day, the Rasmussen Reportsupdate shows the highest level of Strong Disapproval yet recorded for this President. So much for passing healthcare helping him
Just yesterday, Democrats were saying that the healthcare vote would cause their approval numbers to soar. Hmmmm. Might be time to rethink that theory.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 25% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-six percent (46%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21 That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President.
Fifty-three percent (53%) of men Strongly Disapprove along with 39% of women. Most African-American voters (58%) Strongly Approve while most white voters (53%) Strongly Disapprove.
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republicans Strongly Disapprove as do 52% of unaffiliated voters. Forty-seven percent (47%) of Democrats Strongly Approve.
For the second straight day, the update shows the highest level of Strong Disapproval yet recorded for this President. That negative rating had never topped 42% before yesterday. However, it has risen dramatically since the Senate found 60 votes to move forward with the proposed health care reform legislation. Most voters (55%) oppose the health care legislation and senior citizens are even more likely than younger voters to dislike the plan.
In the words of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, happy trails to you, President Obama, ‘til we meet again.
The latest survey puts the president’s approval at 49%-46%. But that’s not just low, it’s historically low.
Campaigning is easy, governing is tough
How the mighty have fallen. In the polls, that is. According to a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, Obama’s still in positive territory. Barely.
The latest survey puts the president’s approval at 49%-46%. But that’s not just low, it’s historically low. Here’s how other presidents have fared at this point in their presidencies:
George W. Bush 86%
John Kennedy 77%
George Bush 71%
Dwight Eisenhower 69%
Richard Nixon 59%
Jimmy Carter 57%
Bill Clinton 54%
Reagan 49%
Obama 49%
Although they both had 49% approval rating, that evil conservative Ronald Reagan rates higher than Obama because his negatives were lower (41% for Reagan vs 46% for Obama).
The poll of 1,025 adults, taken by landline and cellphone, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points, which means that Obama’s approval rating could be as low as 45%.
Give it another couple months and Obama will be recalling these as the good old days.
A new CBS News/New York Times poll reveals some bad news for the folks over in Copenhagen – just 37% of Americans rate the issue as a high priority for government leaders.
The Al Gore Ice Sculpture is melting, just like support for global warming
A new CBS News/New York Times poll reveals some bad news for the folks over in Copenhagen – just 37% of Americans rate the issue as a high priority for government leaders.
Support, it appears, is dropping faster than temperatures because that’s down from 52% who said it was a high priority in April, 2007.
Here’s how CBS News reports the issue’s dwindling support:
A majority of Americans (70 percent) do consider global warming to be a “serious problem.” But nearly two in three either see it as “not serious” (23 percent overall) or a serious problem but not a high priority (33 percent).
In April of 2007, just 8 percent of Americans said global warming was not serious.
The change in priorities can be attributed in part to the economic downturn. In the April 2007 poll, 52 percent said protecting the environment is more important than stimulating the economy. Thirty-six percent said the economy was a higher priority.
You know what we need right about now? Another Al Gore global warming poem, that’s what.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19.
We’d say that this is like watching a slow motion train wreck, but the motion isn’t all that slow anymore.
Rasmussen tells the tale of Barack Obama’s accelerating decline in popularity:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19.
Today is the second straight day that Obama’s Approval Index rating has fallen to a new low. Prior to the past two days, the Approval Index had never fallen below -15 during Obama’s time in office.
The 23% who Strongly Approve matches the lowest level of enthusiasm yet recorded. Just 41% of Democrats Strongly Approve while 69% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 21% Strongly Approve and 49% Strongly Disapprove.
Don’t look now,but the guy who told us he was The One is now The Minus Nineteen.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 25% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16. That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President.
Damn you, Rasmussen. Why must you be so accurate? Why must you tell those inconvenient truths? Why must you torment our beloved President day after day with new lows?
Here’s how the accursed pollster reports today’s worsening news for President Obama:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 25% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16. That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President.
The 25% who Strongly Approve matches the lowest level of enthusiasm yet recorded. That’s partly the result of declining enthusiasm among Democrats. While Democrats continue to offer their approval, just 43% Strongly Approve.
Quick, Mr. President. Time to give another one of those rousing speeches.
You can’t hide this decline, either: Obama’s month-by-month approval gap. Where are those damn global warming scientists when you need them? Obama could use some of their “tricks” right about now.
Where are those damn global warming scientists when you need them? Obama could use some of their “tricks” right about now.
eventy-one percent (71%) of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. That figure includes 46% who are Very Angry.
71% of American voters are angry at the federal government. Are you?
Let’s give credit where credit is due. Candidate Obama said he would unify the American people and President Obama has delivered on that promise. Just not in the way he expected.
We never thought we’d see the day when 71% of Ameridan voters agreed on anything, but that’s the percentage of voters who agree they’re pissed at the federal government.
Here’s how Rasmussen reported the results of a new survey:
Seventy-one percent (71%) of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. That figure includes 46% who are Very Angry.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 27% are not angry about the government’s policies, including 10% who are Not at All Angry.
Men are angrier than women, and voters over 40 are more angry than those who are younger. A majority of those over 40 are Very Angry. Only 25% of under-30 voters share that view.
The data suggests that the level of anger is growing. The 71% who are angry at federal government policies today is up five percentage points since September.
Even more stunning, the 46% who are Very Angry is up 10 percentage points from September.
Seventy one percent? Holy crap, man, you can’t get 71% of the people to agree that the sun rises in the east.
In what can only be called a desperate attempt on our part to connect this story to Thanksgiving we would like to note that President Obama’s approval rating has hit an all-time low on the same day that the day that the Indian leader is visiting the White House.
In what can only be called a desperate attempt on our part to connect this story to Thanksgiving we would like to note that President Obama’s approval rating has hit an all-time low on the same day that the day that the Indian leader is visiting the White House.
Get it? Thanksgiving? Indians?
Yeah, it was a stretch, but we’re already in holiday mode and that’s the best you’re going to get out of us today.
So let’s let Rasmussen give you the details:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 27% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. This is the lowest Approval Index rating yet measured for President Obama.
Fifty-two percent (52%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 68% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, just 16% Strongly Approve and 51% Strongly Disapprove.
Minus 15. Ahhh, this is going to be a glorious Thanksgiving. Glorious, indeed.

Grammy award-winning musician Stevie Wonder said President Barack Obama’s popularity has been decreasing because “people are afraid of change.” Regarding health care reform, Wonder said people are “bickering over something that we should have had a long time ago.”
You’re wrong, Stevie. Come up out of the heavy ganja smoke in which you live and see the reality: People aren’t afraid of change, they’re afraid of socialism and the loss of liberty.
Consider this proof that there are none so blind as those who will not see.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that just 26% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President.
How about if we just get out of the way and let the pros at Rasmussen tell Obama’s sad tale:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 26% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President.
Over the past month, the number who Strongly Approve of the President’s performance has generally stayed between 27% and 30% (with one exception in each direction). Today’s drop to 26% matches the lowest level of strong approval yet recorded.
The number who Strongly Disapprove has stayed between 37% and 41% every day for over a month. The only previous time that Obama’s Approval Index rating was this low came on August 23. It remains to be seen whether the current low is just statistical noise or if it is something more lasting.
Just 47% of Democrats now Strongly Approve of the President’s performance. Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Republicans Strongly Disapprove, as do 43% of those not affiliated with either major political party. These numbers reflect the concern some Democratic analysts are voicing about an enthusiasm gap heading into the 2010 mid-term elections. See other recent demographic highlights.
In the words of Chubby Checker’s immortal Limbo Rock, “How low can you go?”
Support for government run healthcare has fallen off a cliff. In fact, more Americans now want the government to butt out rather than butt in. Here’s how Gallup.com reports its latest poll.
The Greatest Orator In History is having a big impact on the opinions of the American people. But not in the way his handlers expected.
Support for government run healthcare has fallen off a cliff. In fact, more Americans now want the government to butt out rather than butt in.
Here’s how Gallup.com reports its latest poll:
More Americans now say it is not the federal government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than say it is (47%). This is a first since Gallup began tracking this question, and a significant shift from as recently as three years ago, when two-thirds said ensuring healthcare coverage was the government’s responsibility.
There’s only one thing you can do to save government run healthcare, Mr. Obama:
