Chris Matthews calls West Point “enemy camp” to Obama. That explains a lot.

Yes, the enemy camp. Home of hate speech like “Duty, Honor, Country” and evil stuff like that. And you wonder why the military doesn’t love the President?

Fourth and long for the Taliban: Fox airs NFL pre-game show from Afghanistan

In honor of Veteran’s Day, the whole FOX Sports NFL crew went to Afghanistan Sunday and broadcast their show live for the troops.

“It’s been so surreal, it’s hard to describe,” Fox analyst Michael Strahan said of the trip. “To witness so many young, smart, committed and capable men and women is inspiring. We’re here to show our appreciation for their service and sacrifice, and all they want to do is show their appreciation to us for coming here.”

The idea for the show came about when Fox Sports chairman David Hill was passing through the airport in Dallas last spring. He noticed military personnel walking through the terminal were going mostly unnoticed, and he wanted to do something about it.

Here’s a salute to Hill and the entire Fox crew.

Afghani students burn Obama in effigy. They must be raaaaaacists.

Oh, those irrepressible Afghani university students. They had themselves a grand old time the other day and it wasn’t even homecoming.

Racist Afghani students burn President Obama in effigy

Oh, those irrepressible Afghani university students. They had themselves a grand old time the other day and it wasn’t even homecoming.

As Associated Press reports:

University students play with a burning effigy of the President Barack Obama during a demonstration in front of the Afghan Parliament in Kabul, Afghanistan on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009. Hundreds of Afghans shouted anti-US, NATO and Afghan government slogans and burned effigy of the President Barack Obama during a rally to protest a rumor that U.S. forces had bombed a mosque and burned a copy of the Muslim holy book, the Quran, in nearby Wardak province in mid-October.

But…but…but he gave a speech in Cairo. He told the Muslim world that we love them. He told them that everything was our fault. He told them his middle name was Hussein.

Quick, Barack, give another speech. They seem to work really well.

Uh-oh. Obama losing Socialist support because he has more troops in combat than Bush ever had

A President’s in real trouble when he loses his base. And that’s the only way to interpret the fact that socialists are slip slidin’ away from their early enthusiasm for the Press Event President.

A President’s in real trouble when he loses his base. And that’s the only way to interpret the fact that socialists are slip slidin’ away from their early enthusiasm for the Press Event President.

Here’s how the World Socialist Web Site reports the end of the slobbering love affair:

The combined US troop deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan have now reached a higher level than existed at any time under the presidency of George W. Bush. This surge past the record set by its predecessor marks another grim milestone in the Obama administration’s escalation of American militarism.

In addition to the 21,000 US soldiers and Marines that Obama ordered deployed to Afghanistan as part of the escalation he unveiled last March, another 13,000 “support” troops are being quietly sent to the country with no official announcement, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

This stealth buildup is a replay of the methods used by the Bush administration in its Iraq surge, when it announced the deployment of an additional 20,000 combat troops while saying nothing about the 8,000 support troops sent with them.

In neither case was the failure to declare the full number an oversight. Obama, like Bush before him, recognizes that the military interventions he oversees are deeply unpopular with the majority of the American people.

According to the troop numbers provided by the Post, there are now 65,000 US troops in Afghanistan, with another 124,000 still in Iraq, for a total of 189,000 American military personnel waging two colonial-style wars and occupations.

At the height of the Bush administration’s 2007 “surge” in Iraq, there were 26,000 US troops in Afghanistan and 160,000 in Iraq, for a total of 186,000.
There is every indication that the policies being pursued by the Obama White House will send these numbers significantly higher.

That early aura of invincibility is slip slidin’ away, Barack, it’s slip slidin’ away. Which is our cheesy way of leading into the Paul Simon video embedded at the top of this story.

Un-friggin-believable: Ten French soldiers killed after Italians bribed Taliban not to fight

Italy’s bribery strategy proved more creative than the typical French strategy of retreat and surrender, but considerably more deadly.

Italy’s bribery strategy proved more creative than the typical French strategy of retreat and surrender, but considerably more deadly.

The Australian reports via Andrew Bolt:

TEN French soldiers killed in Afghanistan failed to realise the risks in the area because Italian officials had secretly paid the Taliban to desist from violence.

The Italian secret service had been paying tens of thousands of dollars to Taliban commanders and local warlords to keep the Sarobi area near Kabul quiet in the months before French forces moved in.

The French had been in charge of the area for just a month when the 10 soldiers were killed in an insurgent ambush in August 2008, in one of the biggest single losses of life for NATO forces in Afghanistan.

“Sacre bleu, Henri, pour me another glass of that insouciant ’93 chardonnay. This Afghanistan duty is a lot easier than I…(BANG)…”

Hilarious! Terrorists accidentally blow themselves up.

Call us sick, but we think this is hilarious. Here’s the scene: A group of U.S. Apache helicopters from the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade discover some Afghani freedom fighters terrorists planting an IED in the middle of a road. The freedom fighters terrorists have no idea that they’re being observed.

To the Apaches’ credit, they held fire to avoid harming a child who was with the terrorists.

Watch for yourself to see how the clumsy freedom fighters terrorists save U.S. taxpayers the cost of a few rounds of ammunition.

Anti-war protesters offer Obama re-set button

But while the hard truths of war are still in evidence, what’s missing is the non-stop negative news coverage of the conflicts. Another thing’s missing: There are no protesters. No drum beaters at the White House. No mass protests in Europe.

Poor Cindy Sheehan isn't feeling the love anymore. Not from Democrats. Not from the media. Not even from other protesters.
Poor Cindy Sheehan isn't feeling the love anymore. Not from Democrats. Not from the media. Not even from other protesters.

Remember that nasty Iraq War?

Well, this may come as a huge surprise, but it’s still going on. A recent spike in bombings in stories buried deeply in the Washington Post proves it.

And that conflict in Afghanistan? Oh, it’s still going on, too.

Just the other day, an air strike on a couple of fuel trucks hijacked by the Taliban was hit by an allied air strike, resulting in 90 casualties, including a large group of civilians.

Then there are the “lurid photos” – as described by the Wall Street Journal – of Afghan guards and embassy workers mucking about like drunken frat boys. Shades of Abu Ghraib? Nah. Not when Democrats control the government.

But while the hard truths of war are still in evidence, what’s missing is the non-stop negative news coverage of the conflicts. Obviously, during the Obama administration negative news just doesn’t resonate the way negative news did during the Bush administration because, well, because it was the Bush administration.

Another thing’s missing: There are no protesters. No drum beaters at the White House. No mass protests in Europe.

It makes you wonder whether all those crazy parades were protests against war after all.

What Obama said then versus what Obama says now

What a difference six months make. Barack Obama on hos presidential victory and now Barack Obama on a victory not necessarily goal in Afghanistan.

Dutch reporter repeatedly raped by Taliban, she says they respected her

Joanie de Rijke. No rational explanation.
Joanie de Rijke. No rational explanation.

This one’s too bizarre for words. Just too damn bizarre for words.

A Dutch journalist named Joanie de Rijke went looking for the Taliban in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, she found them.

We’ll let the Brussels Journal take it from here:

“In November 2008 a Dutch journalist, Joanie de Rijke, was abducted by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. She was held captive, raped repeatedly, and released after six days for a ransom of 100,000 euros ($137,000). After her ordeal, she acknowledged that her captors ‘did horrible things to me,’ but added in several media interviews ‘They also respected me,’ and emphasized ‘They are not monsters.’”

Bizarrely, de Rijke said this ordeal didn’t make her angry. de Rijke said, “They also respected me.” How did she say they demonstrate this immense respect? Believe it or not, by giving her tea and biscuits between rape sessions.

There’s no explaining this case. Maybe it’s Stockholm Syndrome. Maybe it’s lunacy. Maybe it’s the left’s complete inability to confront evil. Take your choice.

Headline of the Day
“Afghanistan’s only pig quarantined in flu fear”

According to Reuters, “Afghanistan’s only known pig has been locked in a room, away from visitors to Kabul zoo where it normally grazes beside deer and goats, because people are worried it could infect them with the virus popularly known as swine flu.”

Swine flu may be widespread, but we don’t think it’s very popular.

Report says 2008 deadliest year for aid workers, omits that Muslims did most of the killing

Merry band of Islamic Somalian Robin Hoods preparing to steal from the rich, give to the poor, and slaughter damn near anyone who crosses their path.

If you’re an aid worker, consider yourself lucky that you got out of 2008 alive. Reuters reports that last year was the deadliest ever for aid workers. But the wire service left something very important out of its report – who did the killing?

Here’s how CreepingSharia.com revealed what Reuters didn’t or wouldn’t or dasn’t:

al-Reuters reports that 2008 was the deadliest year on record for aid workers and that three countries were responsible for most of the violence. What Reuters fails to mention is what those three countries – Somalia, Afghanistan, and Sudan – have in common that contributed to the killings: Islam.

In fact, the words Islam, Muslim, jihad, and sharia – all significant factors in the record number of aid worker deaths – are never mentioned by al-Reuters, who claims the deaths are an alarming trend.

Unfortunate? Absolutely. Disgusting? Without doubt. Alarming? Not really. Anyone paying any attention at all could tell you jihadists are killing on a regular basis. The alarming trend is not the killings but the refusal of Western governments and the mass media to acknowledge and report on the jihadists and ideology behind the killing. Not to mention policies forbidding use of those terms.

What’s that? There were no bands of crazed 13th century Christians raping and pillaging anywhere in the world? No conservatives slaughtering in the name of God? And no beheadings by disgruntled Republicans?

This is going to come as a big surprise to the Department of Homeland Security.

Democrats demanded Bush exit strategy, timeline for Iraq. Couldn’t care less about Obama and Afghanistan.

Murderous U.S. soldier battling mob of angry Afghanis who hate our troops
Murderous U.S. soldier battling mob of angry Afghanis who hate our troops
The Obama administration has admitted it has no Afghanistan exit strategy. And then announced that the strategy it does have sounds remarkably similar to Bush’s strategy in Iraq.

Of course, while the Bush strategy left the left quivering with anger, the Obama strategy was greeted with virtual silence by the same critics.

One thing we do know – Obama’s adding another 4,000 troops on top of 17,000 troops he previously okayed.

“The only exit strategy will be to leave the Afghan people to deal with their security problem,” said Richard Holbrooke, one of President Obama’s foreign policy advisors. He also said Obama’s priorities include training the Afghan army and the national police force, reducing corruption, and reducing violence throughout the country.

Huh? Doesn’t that sound exactly like what Bush said about Iraq?

Sure, there have been a few small protests here and there, but we’re still waiting for John Kerry to announce that American soldiers in Afghanistan are terrorists. We’re still waiting for John Murtha to announce that American soldiers in Afghanistan are killers. We’re still waiting for Harry Reed to announce that we’ve lost in Afghanistan.

And we’re still waiting for Nancy Pelosi to get back from her latest Botox session.

Helen Thomas: old as dirt, dumb as a rock

angry_catAnyone who thought the election of Barack Obama was going to declaw Hearst columnist Helen Thomas got a rude awakening at yesterday’s White House press briefing.

Thomas demanded to know why President Obama wants to send more troops into Afghanistan. Without waiting for an answer, she gave her own. We’re doing it, she said, to “kill more people.

At least Thomas is consistent. Historians tell us she also asked George Washington why he wanted to kill innocent Hessians, asked James Polk why he wanted to kill innocent Mexicans, and asked President Lincoln why he wanted to kill innocent Southerners.
