Obama says “the world is a community of nations with more in common than divides us.” Americans divided on the issue.

What the hell do we have in common with Saudi Arabia other than their oil? With China other than their cheap labor? With Tonga other than, well, we don’t know what the hell we have in common with Tonga? Foreign aid, maybe.

How much do you have in common with these Ukrainian peasants
How much do you have in common with these Ukrainian peasants

One of President Obama’s most grating platitudes is the one that says that the world is a community of nations with more in common than that which divides us. Blah-blah-blah.

Chalk up another Obama-ism that the American people aren’t buying. At least that’s what a new Rasmussen Reports poll says:

But just 32% of U.S. voters agree with the idea that the world is a community of nations, more alike than different in outlook and interest. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 44% disagree and 24% are not sure.

A solid plurality of Democrats (47%) share Obama’s global perspective, but 60% of Republicans and 49% of voters of voters not affiliated with either party don’t think the president’s right.

You really can’t blame the American people for blowing off the President on this one. The concept sounds like it was written by a United Nations bureaucrat in search of a million dollar grant. The words sound noble as well as Nobel, but they’re completely empty. It’s just another case of Obama ignoring – or forgetting – America’s exceptionalism.

What the hell do we have in common with Saudi Arabia other than their oil? With China other than their cheap labor? With Tonga other than, well, we don’t know what the hell we have in common with Tonga? Foreign aid, maybe.

According to a devastating new Rasmussen poll, the media blows everything out of proportion. And we mean everything.

66% think the media exaggerates swine flu. 54% think they exaggerate global warming. 61% think the media has too much influence over government decisions. 85% trust their own judgment on important matters more than the average reporter.

We took a poll around the office. We found that 100% think the media is filled with lying bags of crap who exaggerate their own importance.

Note: Sorry the sounds begins automatically. We can’t stop that from happening.

Joe Biden less popular than Dick Cheney, psoriasis and athlete’s foot

Biden is now less popular than the guy Democrats call Darth Vader

We don’t want to say people don’t like the Vice President, but his popularity has plunged so low that he barely outscores gonorrhea.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Vice President Joe Biden’s favorable rating has fallen to 42 percent in a new Gallup poll, down from a high of 59 percent just after last year’s election. Biden’s unfavorable rating in the new poll is 40 percent, up from 29 percent last November. (Eighteen percent of those surveyed say they have no opinion of Biden.)

Biden’s average favorable rating during his time in office so far is 45 percent — well below the average 65 percent favorable rating for Vice President Dick Cheney during Cheney’s first year in office. Vice President Al Gore’s favorable rating during his first year, 55 percent, was also higher than Biden’s. (Gallup did not measure vice presidential popularity before Gore.)

Biden’s rating has fallen most dramatically among independents. Last November, 55 percent of them had a favorable impression of Biden. Now, it’s 32 percent. Biden’s favorable rating among Democrats is 73 percent, down from 88 percent last December, and among Republicans it is 18 percent, down from 33 percent last year.

On the other hand, Biden is still very popular among columnists and bloggers in need of punch lines.

Boo! More people believe in haunted houses than global warming

A new Pew poll shows far fewer Americans believe there’s solid evidence that global temperatures are rising. The number has plunged from 71% to only 57% in the last 18 months.

This is shaping up as a very frightening Halloween for Al Gore and his global warming acolytes.

A new Pew poll shows far fewer Americans believe there’s solid evidence that global temperatures are rising. The number has plunged from 71% to only 57% in the last 18 months. Fewer people believe that global warming is due to human activity, too. That number has declined from 47% to just 36%.

Understatement of the Week: Nancy Pelosi isn’t very popular

The only place people like Queen Nancy is in her home district. Of course, that’s San Francisco, so it’s not really like there are any Americans who like her.

Rasmussen Reports tells the sad tale:

Despite months of haggling over health care reform, voters continue to view leaders in Congress in the same light. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains the most well known – and most disliked – of the legislature’s top leaders.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 58% of likely voters view Pelosi unfavorably, up just one point from September. That percentage has fallen in a range of 53% to 64% since Congress began its session in February.

Forty-three percent (43%) view the San Francisco Democrat very unfavorably, down one point over the past month.

The same poll shows that Harry Reed, the Democrat’s top dog in the Senate, viewed unfavorably by 45% of the American people and positively by just 28% (unlike Pelosi, poor Harry is pretty much reviled in his own state, too). Another Rasmussen poll shows President Obama with a -10% favorability rating.

Amazing that a party whose symbol is a donkey should have so many leaders who are horses’ asses.

Uh-oh! Smartest White House Ever makes another diplomatic blunder

Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Or Lars Løkke Rasmussen. Or some other Rasmussen.

When the President flew into Copenhagen last week to save Chicago’s bid for the Olympics, he hastily added a few extra diplomatic tasks to his itinerary.

The White House followed long-standing procedure and issued a press release to let the media know the president’s schedule for the day.

If the Bush White House had issued this press release, the left would have used it as proof that everyone in the administration was an idiot. Especially George Bush. But we’ve yet to see that argument made about the Obama White House press release.

Here’s what the press release said:

The President will arrive in Copenhagen, Denmark in the morning. The arrival at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup is open press.

The President and the First Lady will then travel to Christiansborg Palace. They will be greeted by HM Queen Margrethe II and HRH Prince Consort Henrik. There will be a travel pool spray. The President will meet Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Don’t look now, Mr. President, but that the wrong Rasmussen. Lars Løkke Rasmussen is the Prime Minister of Denmark. Anders Fogh Rasmussen is Secretary-General of NATO.

But you know how it is. All those Danes look alike.

This, of course, is said about the president who just completed interviews on five Sunday morning TV shows, Letterman, and spoke at the opening of the United Nations. He’s the only sitting president to have appeared live on both Letterman and Leno. He’s held more prime time press conferences than any president in history. And another survey last week showed that he’s given three times as many interviews as either of his two predecessors.

For the rational 91% of the population, the law of supply and demand has once again proven its infallibility.

The year’s most unsurprising research: Almost no one trusts the press

The public’s assessment of the accuracy of news stories is now at its lowest level in more than two decades of Pew Research surveys, and Americans’ views of media bias and independence now match previous lows.

pew-research-americans-dont-trust-media

As a result of it’s latest survey, Pew Research concludes that Americans don’t trust the press. Not exactly a man bites dog story.

Here’s how Pew reports it:

The public’s assessment of the accuracy of news stories is now at its lowest level in more than two decades of Pew Research surveys, and Americans’ views of media bias and independence now match previous lows.

Just 29% of Americans say that news organizations generally get the facts straight, while 63% say that news stories are often inaccurate. In the initial survey in this series about the news media’s performance in 1985, 55% said news stories were accurate while 34% said they were inaccurate. That percentage had fallen sharply by the late 1990s and has remained low over the last decade.

Similarly, only about a quarter (26%) now say that news organizations are careful that their reporting is not politically biased, compared with 60% who say news organizations are politically biased. And the percentages saying that news organizations are independent of powerful people and organizations (20%) or are willing to admit their mistakes (21%) now also match all-time lows.

Obama month-by-month: Love in an elevator, going dowwwwwwn

When you track the President’s Job Approval on a daily basis, people sometimes get so caught up in the day-to-day fluctuations that they miss the bigger picture. To look at the longer-term trends, Rasmussen Reports has compiled the numbers on a full-month basis.

Rasmussen threw up an interesting chart today that shows Obama’s approval rating averaged out on a month-to-month basis.

The folks at the White House must cringe every morning when they click on Rasmussen Reports’ daily presidential apprroval poll. Like today, for example:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 32% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove. That’s the highest level of Strong Disapproval yet recorded for this President and it gives Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -10.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.
Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That matches the lowest total approval yet measured for Obama. Fifty-two percent (52%) now disapprove.

But Republicans shouldn’t sit back on their fat haunches and feel too smug about Obama’s poll numbers. Because Rasmussen also reports that “If Americans could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, 57% would throw out all the legislators and start over again. Just 25% would vote to keep the Congress.”

All the heavy lifting so far has been accomplished by the tea baggers and the town hall protesters.

So this might be a good time for Republicans in government get their butts in gear instead of their mouths.

The Incredible Shrinking Presidency, starring
Barack Obama as the President

It just seems so appropriate that a black American communist singer should be combined with a demonstration of Russian nesting dolls in a heartfelt salute to the incredible shrinking presidency of the most leftist American leaders in history.

The training wheels are coming off the presidential bicycle. All the polls – Zogby, Gallup, NBC, Pew – show Barack Obama’s popularity hitting new lows.

ObamaCare is in intensive care. Cash-for-Clunkers was a lemon. Amnesty is going south. His agenda is falling apart faster than a General Motors car.

With that in mind, we present the Russian song “Shiroka Strana Moya Rodnaya” (“My Spacious Homeland”) performed in Russian by Hollywod Communist Paul Robeson.

Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30.

Prior to today, the number who Strongly Approved of the President’s performance had never fallen below 29%. Some of the decline has come from within the President’s own party. Just 49% of Democrats offer such a positive assessment of the President at this time.

At the other end of the spectrum, today’s total for Strongly Disapprove matches the highest level yet recorded. The 41% mark was reached just once before and that came one week ago today. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans now Strongly Disapprove along with 49% of those not affiliated with either major party.

United States Senator Al Franken (we still have trouble typing those words) has one of the lowest approval ratings ever among newly elected senators. A mere 43% of Minnesota adults approve of his job performance.

Franken’s not just disliked, he’s disliked across the board. Pick a group in Minnesota and they probably dislike their new senator. He can’t muster a majority among any age demographic. Homeowners dislike him. Students dislike him. Homemakers dislike him.

As HotAir.com points out, “The lesson here is that Franken is an extraordinarily weak incumbent even before he’s cast enough votes to alienate his constituents. If the GOP can make 2014 a two-candidate race, Franken should be easy to beat.”

God God, man, is that a family or an elementary school?

We know you’re going to do exactly what we did when we looked at the results of this Gallup poll.

You’re going to check to see if the majority of Americans agree with you or if they’re complete morons.

Looks like very few things are still considered verboten by the majority of Americans here in 2009. Here, from the most morally objectionable act to the least, are the percentages of Americans who object to:

92% Married men and women having affairs
91% Polygamy
88% Cloning humans
80% Suicide
63% Cloning animals
56% Abortion
56% Doctor assisted suicide
40% Sex between unmarried adults
47% Gay or lesbian relations
45% Bearing children outside marriage
36% Gambling
30% Divorce
30% Death penalty

One thing we found interesting or disturbing or contradictory or maybe all three: 56% of people find doctor-assisted suicide morally objectionable. The same percentage find doctor-assisted murder objectionable.

We’ve pored over the results of the poll and cannot determine what percentage of the American people find the mere thought of Joe Biden being vice president morally objectionable.

No matter what President Obama may say, almost no one still believes taxes will only increase on those earning more than $250,000. Especially the New York Post:

Congressional plans to fund a massive health-care overhaul could have a job-killing effect on New York, creating a tax rate of nearly 60 percent for the state’s top earners and possibly pressuring small-business owners to shed workers.

New York’s top income bracket could reach as high as 57 percent — rates not seen in three decades — to pay for the massive health coverage proposed by House Democrats this week.

Buyer’s remorse: Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on most key issues

barack-obama-whoops-buyers-remorse

The Greatest President in History is plummeting in the polls and taking the rest of the Democrats along for the ride.

According to Rasmussen Reports’ latest poll:

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight out of 10 key electoral issues, including, for the second straight month, the top issue of the economy. They’ve also narrowed the gap on the remaining two issues, the traditionally Democratic strong suits of health care and education.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that voters trust the GOP more on economic issues 46% to 41%, showing little change from the six-point lead the party held last month. This is just the second time in over two years of polling the GOP has held the advantage on economic issues. The parties were close on the issue in May, with the Democrats holding a one-point lead.

We’re surprised to learn that 41% of the American people live in dark caves with no access to the outside world.
