According to Markey, Republicans are – and we quote – “trying to destroy the whole wide world and the internet.”
That (D-MA) designation following Representative Ed Markey’s name is pretty much all you need to know. He’s a Democrat from Massachusetts, which automatically qualifies him as a liberal lunatic.
If that we’re enough to convince you, this speech should convince you that Markey is nuttier than grandma’s fruitcake.
According to Markey, Republicans are – and we quote – “trying to destroy the whole wide world and the internet.”
Hey, Ed, don’t forget that we’re trying to kill women, too. And children. We really want to kill those little bastards.
Damn it. We were so sure our investment in a summer resort in the Arctic was going to pay off in a big way. But now the predictions for an ice-free Arctic have been pushed back. Yet again.

Ice breaker on its way to IHTM's summer resort in the arctic
The BBC has the new, improved ice free prediction:
Scientists who predicted a few years ago that Arctic summers could be ice-free by 2013 now say summer sea ice will probably be gone in this decade.
The original prediction, made in 2007, gained Wieslaw Maslowski’s team a deal of criticism from some of their peers.
Now they are working with a new computer model – compiled partly in response to those criticisms – that produces a “best guess” date of 2016.
Best guess. That’s a highly scientific term that means “making shit up as we go along.”
When the budget battle hit Capitol Hill, Rep. Corrine Brown, a Florida Democrat, found her own unique way to cope and was kind enough to share it with other members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Everyone reacts to a crisis differently. When the budget battle hit Capitol Hill, Rep. Corrine Brown, a Florida Democrat, found her own unique way to cope and was kind enough to share it with other members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Good God a'mighty, all the retail therapy in the world is not going to help Rep. Corrine Brown
TheHill.com reports Brown’s retail therapy:
According to an email from Brown’s scheduler titled, “Outing with Congresswoman Corrine Brown,” staff member Cathy Gass invited Brown’s fellow female Congressional Black Caucus members to join the lawmaker at a boutique in Crystal City, Va. on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the email, which was addressed to “CBC Schedulers,” Brown “would like to invite the woman [sic] CBC Members to go shopping with her at Daniel’s Boutique this afternoon after votes.
Please let me know if your Member is interested and I will inform the Congresswoman.”
Gass also suggests that for members who “would like to share [their] dress size, the boutique can pull some items for them to have available once they arrive.”
For those unfamiliar with the ultra high-end service, pulling clothes that a client might like before they arrive is better known as personal shopping.
According to the shop’s website, Daniel’s Boutique was founded in 1988 and “specializes in wardrobe consulting and custom tailoring.”
A visit to the boutique’s website revealed plenty of the skirt and jacket combinations popular with lawmakers.
This is the second time in two weeks that we’ve found ourselves agreeing with an Iranian madman about President Obama.
We hope this isn’t the beginning of a trend, but it is the second time in two weeks that we’ve found ourselves agreeing with an Iranian madman. Last week is was Ayatollah Khamenei, this week it’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Don't you hate it when a madman makes more sense than your president?
Iran’s FarsNews has the details:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blasted the US administration for its deceitful policies, and warned that US President Barack Obama will have to face an end far more embarrassing than what his predecessor, George W. Bush, encountered.
… Stating his interpretation of the Obama policy, Ahmadinejad said that the difference between Bush and Obama lies in the fact that the current US president uses force and at the same time deception and conspiracy unlike Bush who clearly resorted to weapon and military action to save the capitalistic system.
As regards the future of the US administration, the Iranian president stated, “I believe that he (Bush) left the scene of politics with shame, but his successor (Obama) will have to leave the scene of politics with much more shame because of his resort to both force and deception.”
We’re still awaiting Ahmadinejad’s comments on Obama’s foreign policy.
Based on an interview with Hearst Magazines, Barack Obama mistakenly thought he was running for President of his neighborhood Rotary Club instead of President of the United States.
Based on an interview with Hearst Magazines, Barack Obama mistakenly thought he was running for President of his neighborhood Rotary Club instead of President of the United States.
It was, apparently, a huge surprise when he woke up one day in the White House and discovered that he was the most powerful man in the world and bore the burdens that come with that job.
Millions of Americans are eager to help President Obama achieve his dream of walking in the park anonymously
The Columbus Dispatch has the tear-jerking story (more jerk, assuredly, than tears):
“I just miss — I miss being anonymous,” he said at the meeting in the White House. “I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks. I can’t take a walk.”
He says he enjoys golf but is not the fanatic that some have portrayed.
“It’s the only excuse I have to get outside for four hours at a stretch,” he said.
His impossible dream: “I just want to go through Central Park (in New York) and watch folks passing by . . . spend the day watching people. I miss that.”
According to the latest polls, there are huge numbers of Americans who can’t wait until his dream comes true.
The American people’s love affair with Barack Obama cooled off a long time ago. Now he’s losing even his most ardent liberal admirers, too.
The American people’s love affair with Barack Obama cooled off a long time ago. Now he’s losing even his most ardent liberal admirers, too.
Rasmussen has details of the downward trajectory:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 19% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20.
Today’s numbers reflect the lowest level of Strong Approval yet recorded for this president. There has been a sharp decline in enthusiasm among liberal voters.
Currently, just 37% of liberals Strongly Approve of the president’s performance. That’s down from 63% a year ago, 57% at the beginning of 2011, and 52% a week ago. Some liberal commentators have expressed disappointment with the president over the extension of the Bush tax cuts, the military action in Libya, and, most recently, the budget deal to avert a partial shutdown of the federal government. While liberal enthusiasm may be declining, 57% of voters believe the president is more liberal than they are.
As if things aren’t bad enough for the President, he’s going to give a speech to the nation on Wednesday night in which he explains that his solution to the debt crisis is to raise taxes.
In the words of Dandy Don Meredith, “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.”
Why are some states growing and other states lagging? Don’t ask the liberals, because they’re busy covering their ears and saying, “La-la-la-la-la-la” to avoid hearing the truths revealed in the 2010 census.
Why are some states growing and other states lagging? Don’t ask the liberals, because they’re busy covering their ears and saying, “La-la-la-la-la-la” to avoid hearing the truths revealed in the 2010 census.
Michael Barone explains the economic facts of life at Investors.com:
Cover your ears, liberals. You're not going to like what the 2010 census has to say.
The eight states with no state income tax grew 18% in the last decade. The other states (including the District of Columbia) grew just 8%.
The 22 states with right-to-work laws grew 15% in the last decade. The other states grew just 6%.
The 16 states where collective bargaining with public employees is not required grew 15% in the last decade. The other states grew 7%.
If we’re not mistaken, this is what’s called a trend.
Meanwhile, Democrat strongholds like California, New York and Illinois are engaged in a race to see which state can be first to declare itself insolvent.
And we believe this is what’s called another trend.
We can only assume that the California legislature has not yet heard the news that they’ve spent the state into bankruptcy. How else can what’s going to happen on June 1 possibly be explained?
We can only assume that the California legislature has not yet heard the news that they’ve spent the state into bankruptcy. How else can what’s going to happen on June 1 possibly be explained?
Want to make a movie? California will give you free money.
The Hollywood Reporter has the details:
That morning, movie and TV producers can drop off applications for a share of $100 million in annual state tax credits for productions that meet certain requirements and shoot in the state during the year.
What’s the rush? “We will exhaust all $100 million in tax breaks on June 1st,” Amy Lemisch, executive director of the California Film Commission said Friday morning at a commission meeting and breakfast for producers in Los Angeles.
In other words, the entire amount allocated by the state legislature for the year will be spoken for the first day that applications are accepted. Actually, more productions will seek tax breaks than is available for the year on that one day.
In case that didn’t make sense, let us sum it up for you:
The bankrupt state of California is handing out money to movie producers like they’re homeless beggers on Hollywood Blvd.
The only way this seems to make sense is if the entire state of California is now living in LaLaLand. It’s one giant horror movie produced, directed and inflicted on the state’s residents by Hollywood. None of it is real.
It’s like The Truman Show in real life and if a resident of California can escape to another state, he’ll find out he’s lived their entire life on one big movie set.
Interesting, isn’t it, that most Americans think they’re overtaxed, but that the political class doesn’t?
Interesting, isn’t it, that most Americans think they’re overtaxed, but that the political class doesn’t?
Rasmussen reports on the taxing situation:
Roughly two-out-of-three voters think Americans are overtaxed, and nearly as many say any federal tax increase should be subject to a vote by the American people. Complicating things for would-be budget cutters, however, is the belief by even more that any changes in Social Security and Medicare also should be voted on by the public.
Funny that those who pay the taxes think they're overburdened, but those who live off the taxes disagree
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 64% of Likely U.S. Voters believe America is overtaxed. Twenty-four percent (24%) disagree, and 11% are undecided.,,
This is virtually unchanged from this time last year.
But the Political Class strongly disagrees. While 79% of Mainstream voters think Americans are overtaxed, 87% of those in the Political Class don’t share that assessment.
Unfortunately, we think the wording of Rasmussen’s question was problematic. “Are Americans overtaxed?” was almost guaranteed to get a different answer than “Are you overtaxed?” Especially within the political class.
The first option allows the respondent to talk about some vague, unidentified, amorphous group. You know, the little people in flyover country who wave the flag and obey the law and work hard for a living.
The second option goes directly to the individual respondent’s wallet. And we’re willing to be that the political class thinks they are personally overtaxed, but that all those other so-called Americans don’t pay their fair share.
When school officials say zero tolerance for drugs, what they really mean is zero tolerance for something that might be mistaken for drugs by someone who doesn’t really know his aspirin from a hole in the ground.
When school officials say zero tolerance for drugs, what they really mean is zero tolerance for something that might be mistaken for drugs by someone who doesn’t really know his aspirin from a hole in the ground.
AOL News has the tale of zero tolerance for intelligence:
Seventh-grader Adam Grass and three other students at Hickory Middle School in Chesapeake, Va., were suspended last week after being caught with what teachers initially thought was a bag of marijuana but turned out to be a stash of oregano, The Virginian-Pilot reports.
Unfortunately for the disciplined boys, now facing expulsion, there isn’t much of a difference between Italian herbs and Mary Jane, at least in the state’s eyes. According to school board member Christie Craig, Virginia has a zero-tolerance policy against “imitation controlled substances.”
Mary Jane? Nice use of slang that no one has used since the 60s, AOL News. This will certainly go a long way toward convincing people that you’re still bitchin’ and groovy.
Once monolithic, blacks’ support for the first African American president has declined about 7% in March; Hispanics support dropped 11%.
Now hold on just a gol dang minute. We thought the only people who opposed President Obama were evil white racists. Isn’t that what we’ve been told since the day the media anointed this guy?
So how does that jibe with the results of this new Gallup poll as reported by the Los Angeles Times:
Once monolithic, blacks’ support for the first African American president is still. . . . immense. But for unclear reasons it’s declined about 7% from well above 90% to 85% in March. That’s a new low since Obama’s inauguration 26 months ago.
Equally ominous for Obama in 2012, his approval among Hispanics, the nation’s fastest-growing demographic, has also fallen to again tie his term low of 54%. That’s a drop of 11 points from its early high of 65%.
Gallup seems puzzled by the unexpected decline, mentioning March’s major news as possible reasons: the ongoing fight with Congress over no fiscal 2011 federal budget and Obama leading the country into a new military combat zone over Libya.
Gallup seems puzzled? Perhaps. But we suspect that it’s the über liberal Los Angeles Times that’s really puzzled.
OK, he didn’t actually say he was too pretty to go to jail, but you know that’s what he was thinking.
OK, he didn’t actually say he was too pretty to go to jail, but you know that’s what he was thinking. He surely knows that prisoners across the country are already volunteering to have him as their cellmate. And their soulmate.
The Daily Mail UK has Edwards’ tale of terror:
Disgraced politician John Edwards is said to be deeply depressed – to the point of being suicidal – over the prospect of a criminal trial that could end with him being jailed if found guilty.
The 57-year-old former Presidential candidate reportedly told a close friend: ‘I won’t go to jail. I’d kill myself first!’
He has lost 20lb in the last year and is a ‘broken spirit,’ reports the National Enquirer.
‘In early March, his legal team told him there was a strong chance he could be indicted, and John completely lost it.
‘He cried his eyes out and said, “I won’t go to jail. I’d kill myself first!”‘
…A second source told the Enquirer: ‘John isn’t hiding the fact that he’s terrified of going to prison, but he’s also extremely distraught about what will happen to his children.
Have you ever seen Shawshank Redemption, John? If not, maybe you should rent it.
Our advice: Try to look at this from a positive point of view, John. At least no one will get pregnant this time around.
The debate in the House of Representatives has degenerated into something resembling the British Parliament. Next thing you know they’ll begin throwing chairs and punching each other like South Korean politicians.
It’s getting ugly in Washington. And we’re not talking about Helen Thomas.

(That might be preferable. At least we’d get some entertainment for our wasted tax dollars.)
There was a time when Presidents had power. And when gas at $2.50 a gallon and unemployment at the unheard of level of five percent, it was most assuredly George W. Bush’s fault.
There was a time just a few short years ago when Presidents had power. When Presidents were men of responsibility. And when gas at $2.50 a gallon and unemployment at the unheard of level of five percent, it was most assuredly George W. Bush’s fault.
The god who walks among men cannot control oil prices
Regretfully those days are long gone. And in the new America not even the smartest, coolest or most able President ever can be expected to do a thing about the cost of gas approaching (and no doubt surpassing) four dollars a gallon.
Fox reports. We deride:
“I’m just going to be honest with you. There’s not much we can do next week or two weeks from now,” the president told workers at a wind turbine plant. It’s a theme Obama’s struck before as he tries to show voters he’s attuned to a top economic concern with gas prices pushing toward $4 a gallon.
But just in case Obama decides that he wants to try and do something about skyrocketing energy costs we suggest he look into the following solutions.
1. Lower taxes on gas.
2. Increase fuel efficiency by getting the ethanol out of our gas tanks.
3. Drill here, drill now, pay less.
4. Adopt economic policies that strengthen the dollar.
5. Restrict the First Lady to 12 vacations a year.
Not to be outdone, Linda Sanchez’ older, even more sinister sister Loretta now checks in with her own tale of woe if the shutdown where to have happened.
There is something wrong – something terribly wrong – with the people in Orange County, California. This once solid bastion of conservatism has now elected the two sinister Sanchez sisters, Linda and Loretta, to Congress.
This morning we had the story of Linda Sanchez complaining that despite a $174,000 annual Congressional salary, she was so strapped for cash that she would be unable to live without her paycheck during a government shutdown.
Not to be outdone, her older, even more sinister sister Loretta now checks in with her own tale of woe.
Michael Liu: Representative Sanchez? Representative Sanchez? All right, to both of you, are you proud about the way this process has been going as people watch the two of you now debate some of the issues?
Sanchez: They’ve cut things like, I worry about wildfires in my district, they’ve cut the funding to that…
Grimm: If I can, if I can…
Sanchez: As the summer season comes up…
Grimm continues to struggle to get a word in.
Sanchez: They’re really cutting important issues; things that happen in our national forest…
Grimm: Because we’re broke. The one thing that my colleague has failed to say…
Sanchez: We’re broke because of Bush.
Grimm: We’re broke because of Bush?
Sanchez [talking over Grimm]: Broke because of Bush. Broke because of Bush. Broke because of Bush.
Grimm: You can continue to blame Bush, but President Bush is no longer in the president and hasn’t been the president for a couple of years now.
National forests in her district? We’re very familiar with her district and can’t figure out where they might be. CA-47 is as urbanized as a district can get. According to Wikipedia, “California’s 47th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California based in Orange County. The district covers the cities of Garden Grove and Santa Ana and parts of Fullerton and Anaheim, and includes Disneyland.” The closest thing to a forest in the 47th are the plastic trees on the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland.
Oh, one other thing. If there were a wildfire, which is highly unlikely in Orange County in April, it would be handled by city and county firefighters who are unaffected by any federal shutdown.
Apparently, “Sanchez” is the Spanish word for “liar.”
A Congressman from California suggested that the administration isn’t being, shall we say, truthful about the cost of its current kinetic military action.
Brad Sherman is a Congressman from California. That fact alone tells you that he’s a liberal kook.
Nevertheless, he emerged from hibernation like Punxsutawney Phil, but instead of predicting that winter was about to end, predicted that the end of the unpleasantries in Libya weren’t and suggested that the administration isn’t being, shall we say, truthful about the cost of its current kinetic military action.
Liberal Democrat Brad Sherman may be ostracized by his own party for demanding full-cost accounting on anything
The Washington Times has the desultory details:
A Democratic lawmaker said Thursday that the White House is “dramatically underestimating” the cost of the nation’s military involvement in Libya by relying on misleading accounting.
“That effort is costing us billions a week,” Rep. Brad Sherman, California Democrat and a certified public accountant, said in his opening remarks at a House Foreign Relations Committee hearing on reforming the United Nations with Susan E. Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Last week, Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates testified that the nation’s initial involvement in establishing a no-fly zone over the skies of Libya carried a $550 million price tag and that the cost going forward would be about $40 million a month. He also assured lawmakers he had enough money in his budget to absorb the costs without asking Congress for new funding — though he wasn’t ready to say where exactly the money would come from.
But Mr. Sherman on Thursday said the estimates are based on what’s known as “marginal-cost accounting,” which doesn’t include costs for things such as overhead from the development of the weapons systems and equipment being used, or the salaries of the people involved in the effort.
“We need to use full-cost accounting,” Mr. Sherman said.
Full-cost accounting? We’ll get to full-cost accounting on Libya after we get it on TARP and the $timulus and Fannie and Freddie and a dozen other fiscal fiascos.
Feel free to go back into hibernation, Congressman Sherman, but don’t hold your breath.
The Libyan rebels live public lives on Facebook and Twitter, love rap music, “Dancing With the Stars” and “American Idol.”
President Obama assured us that the Libyan rebels were doctors and lawyers and professionals, which must have seemed preposterous even to him as the words exited his mouth.
Turns out doctors and lawyers and professionals probably wouldn’t be caught dead with this band of effete “warriors.” At least that’s how the Los Angeles Times tells the story:
Young Libyan rebels would rather shoot videos than guns
Mostly in their 20s and 30s, they have known nothing but Kadafi, who has held power for more than four decades…
They live public lives on Facebook and Twitter, love rap music, “Dancing With the Stars” and “American Idol.” They communicate by text message — at least they did until Kadafi family members who own Libya’s cell networks cut most service to eastern Libya.
Too bad about that cell network being down. That undoubtedly hampers the rebels’ efforts to vote for their favorite American Idol. Please do not call until the show is over.
When they should be shooting at the enemy, they shoot souvenir photos and videos on cellphones and point-and-shoot pocket cameras. Many of them commute to the front, driving their dusty cars back home to rest and freshen up…
They drive home to freshen up? Oh, yeah, this war is going to go well.
Most of the fighters know nothing of guns because the weapons were banned under Kadafi. Getting caught with a gun meant prison or, in some cases, death.
Illicit but alluring, guns are objects of mystery and fascination for the men and boys of eastern Libya. Now that they at last own firearms — looted from government garrisons overrun by protesters in February — the would-be soldiers fire them randomly and wildly. They have wasted thousands of rounds, prompting commanders to begin charging one Libyan dinar (about 80 cents) per bullet.
“For so long, we wanted guns but could never touch one,” said Ibrahim Ahmad, a 20-year-old who said his mother urged him to find a gun and fight. “Now we want to shoot them all day because it feels so good.”
This is no way to maintain liberal support in America, Ibrahim.
The approved quote was supposed to be, “I don’t kill people. Guns kill people. Shooting this implement of death feels terrible, but I only do it to rid the world of a dictator and for the glory of Barack Obama.”
There. That’s more like it. The check is in the mail.
Linda Sanchez, one of the two sinister Sanchez sisters in Congress, apparently has so little money in the bank that she can’t survive a government shutdown without her paycheck.
Linda Sanchez, one of the two sinister Sanchez sisters in Congress, is symbolic of the government she is part of. The woman makes a hefty $174,000 per year plus a long list of bennies, but apparently has so little money in the bank that she can’t survive a government shutdown without her paycheck.
“I have to tell you that I live paycheck-to-paycheck, like most Americans,” Sanchez wailed. “I’m still paying off my student loans. I have a 2-year-old son who I have to support, and I have to maintain residences on both coasts. It’s very difficult for me to say, ‘Hey, I can give up my paycheck,’ because the reality is, I have financial obligations that I have to meet on a month-to-month basis that doesn’t make it possible for me.”
“Now, if you’re a member of Congress who is a millionaire and there are quite a few members of the House and Senate that are, it’s really not a problem for them,” Sanchez complained. “But they don’t share the experience that most Americans share, that I know, having grown up in a family of seven kids to immigrant parents that you have to really stretch a paycheck to make sure that it covers everything. And, you know, this suggestion that it’s so easy for every single lawmaker to do that, that’s just simply not the case for a lot of us.”
At least she’s consistent. As a good liberal Democrat she’s spent the country to the brink of a fiscal nightmare and as an individual she’s done the same thing.
But if she truly wants to be consistent, perhaps she can simply borrow some money from China.

“The bloom isn’t entirely off the rose between Obama and the press,” Simon said, “but reporters are starting to concentrate more than ever on what he says rather than how he says it. We will stipulate that he’s the greatest orator of modern times, but now we’re looking beyond that in every speech for what he’s actually telling us.
Stipulate away, Roger. But you might want to go to YouTube and search “obama gaffe” before you say that in public again.

Astute observers will note that Republicans gave Cantor a standing ovation. Democrats gave him a sitting cold shoulder.

Representative Louise Slaughter is back. We haven’t heard much from the wacko New York Democrat since the ObamaCare debate, but the current budget debate has nudged her out of her hole.
“This is probably one of the worst times that we’ve seen because the numbers of people who are elected to Congress,” Slaughter complained. “I went through this as co-chair of the arts caucus. In ’94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts. Now they’re here to kill women.”
And minorities and children, Louise, don’t forget the minorities and children.

What the only thing better than watching a former CIA agent smackdown two CNN newsettes? Hearing him say that they’re just carrying water for the Obama administration, that’s what.
Former CIA Counter-terrorism analyst Michael Scheuer is vehemently opposed to the Obama’s administration’s Libyan policy. That, of course, proves that Scheuer is smarter than we are because he’s apparently figured out what that policy is.
Liberty Underground has the smackdown specifics:
Scheuer believes that there isn’t a strong case for America’s intervention especially at a time when the country hasn’t even recovered from the recession. Also, Scheuer had doubts if the rebels that we are arming would really be any better than the Gadaffi regime: “I’m not sure that that the opposition, if it takes power, is going to be much better than was Gadaffi.” Moreover, Scheuer argues that the US involvement in Libya would serve as a recruitment tool for extremists. “In the muslim world, this is Americans killing Muslims again, and it looks like its for oil.”
Scheuer also suggested the rationale behind US involvement in yet another war “at a time when we’re nearly bankrupt.” to which the CNN host, Christine Romans, expressed disagreement suggesting that Libya and US economy are two distinct issues. Scheuer protested “they are not separate issues, ma’am, you’re just carrying the water for Mr. Obama.”
C’mon, Michael, that’s unfair. Give credit where credit is due. They’re also carrying ice cubes and little lemon slices.

NBC’s Tom Brokaw reports that the Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, our staunchest Arab ally, is not happy with the manchild President of the United States.
“I was told on the way in here that the Saudis are so unhappy with the Obama administration for the way it pushed out President Mubarak of Egypt that it sent high level emissaries to China and Russia to tell those two countries that Saudi Arabia now is prepared to do more business with them.”
More evidence that President Obama’s vaunted Cairo speech was meaningless twaddle peddled by the press and manipulated by the media.
Obama played up the threats posed by Republicans to his agenda while boasting of “hav[ing] had the most successful legislative initiative of any president over the last 50 years.”
His supporters have called Barack Obama the most intelligent president ever, the most handsome president ever, the most athletic president ever, the most charming president ever, the greatest orator ever, and now to that list of distinguished achievements we can add most modest president ever.
He's also faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive.
Politico has the unassuming, unpretentious untruth:
On a conference call with hundreds of organizers, volunteers and campaign operatives, Obama played up the threats posed by Republicans to his agenda while boasting of “hav[ing] had the most successful legislative initiative of any president over the last 50 years.”
The call was the culmination of a day-long roll-out of his re-election campaign, which began with the 5 a.m. release of a video entitled “It Begins With Us.” That was followed by an email to supporters, the filing of re-election paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and a more exclusive rally-the-troops conference call with top donors conducted by campaign manager Jim Messina.
“I’m fired up, I don’t know about everybody else,” Obama said after being patched through by the White House switchboard to a core group of campaign workers that pulled off an upset victory over Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries nearly three years ago and went on to defeat Republican John McCain.
We think he misread the teleprompter again. We’re pretty sure he meant to say, “I should be fired.”
Police arrested Bobby Titcomb, 49, a friend and Punahou School classmate of Obama, in downtown Honolulu for prostitution.
Many years ago, when the Editor was still a young, wet-behind-the-ears advertising copywriter, he took a trip to New York with his business partner.
They were supposed to meet their client in front of the hotel at 7:00, but the Editor, being a prompt sort, arrived a few minutes early. While he was standing there mesmerized by the passing parade of people, an attractive young woman approached him and said, “Want to go to a party?”
Bobby Titcomb has a history of consorting with known prostitutes
The Editor, still innocent and barely off the farm, replied, “Oh, that’s very nice of you, but I have to meet a client in a few minutes.”
A few minutes later, when his business partner arrived, the Editor said, “You know, those stories about New Yorkers being rude aren’t true. A woman just walked up and invited me to a party.”
The business partner looked at him and said, “You are the dumbest man I ever met.”
Somehow, we don’t think that’s quite how President Obama’s Hawaiian pal found himself in this situation:
The Honolulu Police Department confirmed that a close friend of President Barack Obama was arrested Monday in connection with a prostitution sting case.
Police arrested Bobby Titcomb, 49, a Punahou School classmate of Obama, at 9:40 p.m. in downtown Honolulu at the corner of Pohukaina and South streets. He was released after posting $500 bail, police said.
Police arrested four men in connection with a reverse prostitution sting involving a fake online escort website, sources said.
Titcomb usually spends the holidays with the president and his family when they spend time in Hawaii. He has been seen playing golf and attending picnics. The first family attended a barbecue at Ticomb’s Waialua home in December.
C’mon, the guy’s name is Titcomb. He was almost forced into this situation.
