Psychopaths: Fiends in high places

Political psychopaths? We’ve never heard of such a thing, at least not since Obama took office.

The word “psychopath” evokes thoughts of serial killers – guys like Ted Bundy, Charlie Manson, John Wayne Gacy. But Dr. Robert Hare, creator of the 20-point Hare PCL-R (Psychopathy Checklist-Revised), disabuses us of that idea. He says business, religious and political leaders can also be psychopaths.

al-gore
For example...

Jon Ronson explains in his book The Psychopath Test:

“Serial killers ruin families,” shrugged Hare. “Corporate and political and religious psychopaths ruin economies. They ruin societies.”

It wasn’t only Hare who believed that a disproportionate number of psychopaths can be found in high places. Over the following months, I spoke to scores of psychologists who all said the same.

Political psychopaths? We’ve never heard of such a thing, at least not since Obama took office.

Here’s Hare’s test. Think of a politician – any politician – and run down the list. For each item, evaluate the subject as a 0, 1 or 2. A total of 30 or more out of 40 indicates a psychopath.

Item 1 Glibness/superficial charm
Item 2 Grandiose sense of self-worth
Item 3 Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom
Item 4 Pathological lying
Item 5 Cunning/manipulative
Item 6 Lack of remorse or guilt
Item 7 Shallow affect
Item 8 Callous/lack of empathy
Item 9 Parasitic lifestyle
Item 10 Poor behavioural controls
Item 11 Promiscuous sexual behaviour
Item 12 Early behaviour problems
Item 13 Lack of realistic long-term goals
Item 14 Impulsivity
Item 15 Irresponsibility
Item 16 Failure to accept responsibility for own actions
Item 17 Many short-term marital relationships
Item 18 Juvenile delinquency
Item 19 Revocation of conditional release
Item 20 Criminal versatility

As far as politicians go, if we didn’t know it was a psychological test, we would’ve guessed “resume.”

Sean Hannity sucker punches Juan Williams

Oh, sure, it was a figurative sucker punch, but it left poor Juan’s head spnning nonetheless. The best part is the stunned look on Williams’ face at the very end of the clip.

Oh, sure, it was a figurative sucker punch, but it left poor Juan’s head spnning nonetheless.

Hannity reeled off a list of Eric Cantor’s outrageous comments about raising the debt ceiling and asked for William’s response. When Juan finished ripping Cantor, Hannity unleashed the sucker punch and told him that the comments all came from Senator Barack Obama back in 2006, not Eric Cantor in 2011.

The best part is the stunned look on Williams’ face at the very end of the clip.

What a bunch of dicks: $900,000 in grants to study penis size in the gay community

The American government has wasted your hardearned tax dollars on some pretty stupid stuff, but the length and girth of this one tops them all.

The American government has wasted your hardearned tax dollars on some pretty stupid stuff, but the length and girth of this one tops them all.

The Daily Mail UK reveals the hard facts about how you’re getting screwed. Or at least how someone’s getting screwed:

anthony-weiner-underwear
Another completely transparent excuse to show Anthony Weiner's weiner again

As the country plunges further into debt and with the small task of securing a multi-trillion dollar deal still on the cards, it has emerged that thousands of tax dollars were wasted on a study examining the correlation between a gay man’s penis size and his sex life.

The study was among several backed by the National Institutes of Health who granted almost $900,000 in one year on this and other studies.

We don’t even want to know what the other studies may have been. We’re still reeling over this one.

It has not been ascertained how much of the $900,000 grant went to he 2009 report, called The Association Between Penis Size and Sexual Health Among Men Who Have Sex with Men, but the coalition release stated that at least $9.4 million went to a ten-year study that included the penis-size research.

According to Fox, the grant was administered by NIH’s National Institute on Drug Abuse, and went first to a group called Public Health Solutions and a researcher with the National Development and Research Institutes before going to individual researchers.

It compiled data from a survey of more than one thousand gay and bisexual men at events in New York City held for the gay community.

And now, let’s conclude with the highlight of the story.

Those who participated were given a free movie voucher.

And if they were lucky, they found Pee Wee Herman in the theater of their choice demonstrating the results of the survey.

Congresswoman says Americans are too stupid to understand the debt ceiling debate. And that’s where the fun begins.

In this clip the Socialistkowski says that she agrees with President Obama that average Americans are just incapable of comprehending the debt ceiling and the dire threat to social security.

We were just thinking that we hadn’t heard anything really stupid from Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky for a while. And then, bang! She solved that problem.

In this clip the Socialistkowski says that she agrees with President Obama that average Americans are just incapable of comprehending the debt ceiling and the dire threat to social security.

And then she demonstrates that she can’t explain it herself.

Classic socialist stupidity from Schakowsky.

Where has this guy been all our lives? Marco Rubio says Obama’s “incompetent” and “not up to the job”

Why has it taken this long for our supposed leaders to find their testicles? Why can’t they all sound like Marco Rubio?

Why has it taken three years for Republicans to find their cojones (as Rubio’s father might have said). Why has it taken three loooooong years for Republican leaders to say what the man in the street has been saying since Obama first went to Iowa? Why has it taken this long for our supposed leaders to find their testicles? Why can’t they all sound like Marco Rubio?

Why?

Surprise! Obama opposed to cutting spending, capping spending and balancing the budget

The White House on Monday warned President Obama will veto GOP legislation to “cut, cap and balance” spending and the budget.

Obama knows how his bread is buttered. With the labor of generations of tax payers yet to be born. And the president is willing to fight tooth and nail for his right to benefit from that labor far more than most of our children ever will.

lazy-obama
Obama puts his feet up on the desk in the Oval Office and laughs about the thought of your grandchildren toiling to pay his bills

The Hill is alive with the sound of this administration’s muzak:

The White House on Monday warned President Obama will veto GOP legislation to “cut, cap and balance” spending and the budget.

In a statement of administration policy, the White House Office of Management and Budget labeled the GOP bill as an “empty political statement.”

The House Rules Committee is expected to take up the measure on Monday, and it is likely to receive a floor vote on Tuesday. The measure would cut spending in fiscal 2012 by $111 billion, cap future spending at 19.9 percent of gross domestic product and allow for the debt ceiling to be increased if a balanced-budget amendment is approved by Congress and sent to the states.

The administration said the measure, which is not expected to move through the Senate, is unnecessary and unrealistic.

Yes, of course. It is unnecessary and unrealistic to expect the government to live within its means. Especially at a time when the taxpayers are expected to live so far below their means in order to finance all the votes and favors Obama is going to need if he expects to have a prayer at getting re-elected.

Damn, we hope the Republicans are learning something in Minnesota

Republicans in Minnesota gave Democrats a two-punch knockout combo that offers Republicans in Washington, D.C., a roadmap for how to win the budget battle against Obama and his leftwing radical cohorts.

Republicans in Minnesota gave Democrats (actually, they’re called Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party members in Minnesota, for some odd reason) a two-punch knockout combo that offers Republicans in Washington, D.C., a roadmap for how to win the budget battle against Obama and his leftwing radical cohorts.

coors-light-body-paint
Coor cans (Stop groaning, damn it. That's a pretty damn good caption)

Question is, are Republicans in D.C. smart enough to read the map?

The whole situation in Minnesota was a mirror image of the battle at the federal level: a budget deficit that needed solving, Democrat governor who wanted tax increases, and a brand new Republican legislature that did NOT want tax increases and figured the only sane solution was to cut spending.

Sound familiar?

The governor had a hissy fit, refused to negotiate, and shut down the Minnesota government for almost two weeks.

The first lesson that was learned was, well, nobody gave a crap. Life pretty much went along even better than when the government was open. There were some complaints about closed state parks over the 4th of July weekend, but that was about it.

Things sailed along just fine and dandy until it was announced that MillerCoors Brewing would have to stop selling beer because their license was about to expire. That announcement came on day thirteen of the Minnesota government shutdown. On day fourteen, the governor miraculously decided to give the Republicans the no-tax budget solution they wanted. Call it a coincidence if you want.

Listen up Boehner and McConnell: Stand firm and let the president have his hissy fit and shut down the government if he wants. Nobody will really care. Then threaten the beer supply after a few days and Obama will fold like a cheap suit.

After all, what do liberals have if they don’t have beer?

Hilarious: Olbermann has to pay guests to appear on his low-rated TV show

Guests generally appear on most broadcast and cable news shows for free. But that’s not how it currently works for Olbermann at Current TV.

Guests generally appear on most broadcast and cable news shows for free. They do it for the exposure, to help them sell books or newspaper columns or to build reputations. But that’s not how it currently works over at Current TV.

keith olbermann
We would imagine that Olbermann has to pay people to be guests at his home, too

Business Insider has the inside info:

Interesting tidbit form Keith Olbermann’s Q&A with Cindy Adams in today’s New York Post.

Here’s how Olbermann made sure his new Countdown on Current got good guests: he pays them.

Being a smaller network, any difficulty in getting A-1 guests?

“It was a concern considering we’re starting from scratch, so I decided to formalize guests. Pay them even if it’s not much money. Make law professors, nonpolitical people, contributors. We built this in a matter of weeks, but the baseline is we’ve formalized it so it wouldn’t be a problem.

Paying guests is unusual, but certainly not unheard of. We wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Olbermann has to pay viewers, too.

And there ain’t enough money in the world.

Quote of the Day: “Why is it that compromise always means increasing taxes today and doing cuts ten years from now?”

Republican Rep. Raul Labrador asked the simple question, “Why is it that compromise always means increasing taxes today and doing cuts ten years from now?”

Damn, we love that line. And it’s about time someone – anyone – said it. In this case the quotee was Idaho Republican Rep. Raul Labrador.

After Cokie Roberts reflexively spewed a litany of Democrat talking points, Labrador asked the simple question, “Why is it that compromise always means increasing taxes today and doing cuts ten years from now?”

“Homina, homina, homina,” Roberts said in response.

Lord Obama demands more sacrifice from his subjects

After a number of years of benefiting from our sacrifice without providing any of his own he is once again returning to that old rhetoric.

From the dawn of his national political career the President has talked to the country of sacrifice. And after a number of years of benefiting from our sacrifice without providing any of his own he is once again returning to that old rhetoric.

king-obama
"Why don't you little people sacrifice while I try on this nifty hat."

Yahoo the website has this story on yahoo the president:

President Barack Obama is urging US lawmakers to quickly forge a deal to keep the world’s richest nation from plunging into debt default, saying he is “willing to compromise.”

Obama has warned of economic “Armageddon” should Congress fail to raise the debt limit to allow more US borrowing, with his administration highlighting disastrous ripple effects that would churn through the global financial system.

But after five straight days of crisis talks ended Thursday without a clear solution, Obama implored fellow Democrats and opposition Republicans to embrace “shared sacrifice” to help break the stalemate that has led ratings agencies and top US lender China to sound the alarm over US creditworthiness.

“I’m willing to compromise. I’m willing to do what it takes to solve this problem, even if it’s not politically popular,” Obama said in his weekly radio address Saturday.

“Simply put, it will take a balanced approach, shared sacrifice, and a willingness to make unpopular choices on all our parts.”

Under normal circumstances this the part of our story where we would have written something (hopefully) clever to tie the piece altogether. We didn’t have to do that this time. The perfect summation had already been written. IHateTheMedia.com would like to thank Ayn Rand for the following bit of brilliance:

It only stands to reason that where there’s sacrifice, there’s someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there’s service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

What she said.

Ahhh, the fresh breeze of civility and tolerance wishes 40 percent of America were dead

Attack the ideas, they tell us, not the person. Just ask uber-liberal and gay sex advice columnist Dan Savage.

Liberals tell us that we must work and live together to create a better nation. We must learn to treat one another – even those of a different political philosophy – with respect. Attack the ideas, they tell us, not the person.

Just ask uber-liberal and gay sex advice columnist Dan Savage.

In a heated exchange about the debt-ceiling debate on the HBO’s Real Time, Savage, in the spirit of this new political civility, said of Republicans, “I wish they were all fucking dead.”

The funny thing: No one really in the panel called him on it. It’s as if they agreed with the statement that it’s OK to wish forty percent of their fellow Americans dead and – if truth be told – they probably wished those deaths were not peaceful slides off the mortal coil. We’re just supposing, though.

Could it be that civility works one way? Could it be that liberals think that any time one of their ideas or leaders is criticized that this is being “uncivil” and they can threaten and curse against their opponents all they like.

Civility, it seems, is a one-way street where everyone drives on the left.

Jane Fonda says vast right wing conspiracy stopped her from selling crappy book on QVC

Forty years later, Jane Fonda’s acts from the Vietnam days have come back to haunt her when she was banished from the QVC Shopping Channel.

In the 1970s, actress Jane Fonda sat on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with a dating dry spell.

Forty years later, her acts from that era have come back to haunt her when she was banished from the QVC Shopping Channel. She’s upset about it.

hanoi jane fonda QVC
After 40 years, still not fond of Fonda

Big Hollywood has Jane’s sad lament:

I was to have been on QVC today to introduce my book, “Prime Time,” about aging and the life cycle. …

The network said they got a lot of calls yesterday criticizing me for my opposition to the Vietnam War and threatening to boycott the show if I was allowed to appear.

Bottom line, this has gone on far too long, this spreading of lies about me! None of it is true. NONE OF IT! I love my country. I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us.

Jane exercised her rights (perhaps “abused” is a better term) and now is upset when others exercise theirs. As QVC shoppers might say, “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.”

It’s so unfair – Jane does a little PR for the enemy and POWs have the nerve to remember it.

Life’s a bitch. But Jane’s a traitor.

Sheila Jackson Lee says the debt ceiling battle is raaacist

We knew sooner or later someone would say it. It was just a matter of who and when.

We knew sooner or later someone would say it. It was just a matter of who and when. The results are in and those of you who had Sheila “Today we have two Vietnams side by side” Jackson Lee (D-Mars) in the pool, come claim your winnings.

The Hill has the story:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Friday strongly suggested that members of Congress are making it difficult for President Obama to raise the debt ceiling because of his race.

“I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness [toward] this president,” said Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “Why is he different? … In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?”

We realize the Democrats don’t know much civics – for example, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-Fantasyland) thinks the 3 branches are President, House and Senate – but the debt ceiling debate is a legislative issue to be decided between the Democrat and Republican legislators, not Obama and the raaacists.

As for the leader of the Senate thing… Harry Reid did work tirelessly to bring President Bush down, but they were from different parties. But since President Obama is from Harry’s party … maybe Harry’s just a raaaaacist.

Kossacks elated at Murdoch woes and a “world without Fox News”

Vyan at Daily Kos is getting giddy in a post headlined “Could we soon see a world without Fox News?”

There used to be a saying. “If you can’t beat them join them and change them from within.” While the President appears to be utilizing that tactic from the White House, the Kos Kooks are looking to employ a rather different technique in their plan for media monopoly.

That tactic can be summed up thusly: If you can’t beat them, hope they go to jail, or at least out of business.

angry-dog
Daily Kos readers are angry, yipping little creatures

Newsbusters busts a moves all over this story:

Vyan at Daily Kos is getting giddy in a post headlined “Could we soon see a world without Fox News?” It’s apparently all over for FNC: “In less than a week the News of the World Wiretapping and Bribery Scandal has quickly metastasized into a Multi-Headed Dragon of Death for Murdoch Empire and simply lopping off one head, doesn’t seem to be enough – the infection has already spread.”

Now that Fox-hating liberal interest groups, bloggers, and Democrat politicians are vowing to investigate, the Kosmonauts think Murdoch’s “criminal enterprise” is about to collapse…

Of course we all understand the left’s hatred of Fox. It’s hard to control the people when you no longer control all of the people’s information. But maybe this could be a good thing, because Fox has been getting a bit RINO over the years. Perhaps its time for them to be replaced by a truly conservative news network.

We know what you’re thinking – isn’t this something that the Obamas have been begging Americans to do?

Maybe. But could the tentacles of bureaucracy be growing at such a rate that even the best intentions of the Community Organizer-in-Chief be tripped up?

From the story:

Julie Bass says, “We thought we’re minding our own business, doing something not ostentatious and certainly not obnoxious or nothing that is a blight on the neighborhood, so we didn’t think people would care very much.”

But some cared very much and called the city. The city then sent out code enforcement.

“They warned us at first that we had to move the vegetables from the front, that no vegetables were allowed in the front yard. We didn’t move them because we didn’t think we were doing anything wrong, even according to city code we didn’t think we were doing anything wrong. So they ticketed us and charged me with a misdemeanor,” Bass said.

Typical government operation: Too little garden, too much manure.

Your “Chris Matthews is a moron” moment of the week

In this clip Matthews says that rich people committed suicide during the Depression because they were ashamed of “what they did.”

Last week we shared a video clip of President Obama just plain making up crap about the history of the Transcontinental Railroad. Chris must have seen this clip and said to himself, “Hey, this job’s a lot easier if you can just make up history to fit your agenda.” So that’s what he did.

In this clip Matthews says that rich people committed suicide during the Depression because they were ashamed of “what they did.”

Chris, buddy, it was raining stockbrokers on Wall Street because they’d lost everything, not because they felt bad about other people losing everything.

But if that’s the story you want to believe, we’re pretty sure there won’t be any convincing you otherwise. After all, you work for MSNBC so there’s no real incentive to tell the truth.

Introducing our all-time favorite Democrat: William Boyland, Jr

william-boyland
In addition to being an adept politician, Assemblyman William Boyland, Jr. is a sharp dresser and a mouth breather

The New York Daily News explains what we mean:

Boyland, who pleaded not guilty in April to federal charges that he did political favors for Brookdale University Hospital in exchange for a consulting gig, skipped 20 of the Assembly’s 60 sessions this year, attendance records show.

Boyland (D-Brownsville), also was the only lawmaker in either the Senate or Assembly who did not introduce a single bill.

We need more Democrats like Billy Boyland – guys who don’t introduce an endless series of  bills and designed solely to waste our hard-earned money. Guys who believe that serving in the legislature should be a part-time job. Guys who don’t jump in front of every camera they see.

Billy Boyland, you may be a crook and you may be a Democrat (and we may be redundant), but we salute you.

Unemployment uh-oh: 9.2% may be the low-water mark

Business Insider discusses government policies affecting small business that mean high unemployment may be a long-term problem.

Economists are a notoriously disagreeable bunch, but even they agree small businesses produce most of the country’s new jobs, about 2/3 to be exact. Our engine of job growth is currently stuck in neutral.

Business Insider discusses government policies affecting small business that mean high unemployment may be a long-term problem:

unemployment-obama

The high costs of cartel healthcare, a.k.a. Sickcare in the U.S.

Obamacare’s mandates discourages both formation of new businesses and additional hiring by existing ones.

Politicos and employees don’t understand small business.

Businesses are owners’ livelihoods, not vehicles for “feel good” social policies of meddling politicians. Enterprises hire because demand justifies the extra help, not because some nitwit in DC offers them a tax credit.

Local government views small business as tax donkeys…. a captive source of extra revenue via higher licensing fees, junk fees, permits, surcharges, etc …local politicos and fiefdoms are forgetting every small business owner has an option: it’s called closing down, and opting out of the rat-race of higher taxes and costs.

States like California ostentatiously form “fact finding” panels to figure out why businesses are leaving. The pols should just go home and look in the mirror.

Litigation nation. Employees and others can take a turn at the lawsuit lottery wheel, and if they “win” then you lose.

Lawyers are a big Democrat special-interest group, but where do the parasites eat once the host dies?

We don’t expect any of this to change until Barack “Not My Fault” Obama joins the ranks of overpaid government retirees. Hopefully in January 2013.

Say it ain’t so O: Emails show White House has anti-Fox bias

We are shocked – shocked, we tell you – to find out that the White House has an anti-Fox News bias.

We must admit a bit of discombobulation this morning. Just as Captain Renault was shocked (shocked) to find out there was gambling at Rick’s Cafe Americain we are shocked – shocked, we tell you – to find out that the White House has an anti-Fox News bias.

white-house-sunset
Sure as the sun sets in the west, the White House fears Fox News

Fox reports, we deride:

Internal Obama administration emails obtained by Judicial Watch provide evidence that FNC was specifically singled out for exclusion. According to one October 22, 2009, email exchange between Dag Vega, Director of Broadcast Media on the White House staff, to Jenni LeCompte, then-Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs in the Treasury Department, Vega informs LeCompte that “…we’d prefer if you skip Fox please.”

Regarding general anti-FNC bias within the Obama White House in an October 23, 2009, email exchange between Jennifer Psaki, Deputy White House Communications Director and LeCompte, Psaki writes, “I am putting some dead fish in the fox cubby – just cause.” In an email on the night of October 22, 2009, commenting on a report by Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier noting the exclusion of the network from the pool, Psaki writes to Compte and fellow White House colleagues, “…brett baier just did a stupid piece on it — but he is a lunatic.”

Guess we now know why Obama never funneled any TARP funds to Fox’s parent company and even expected them to pay their taxes last year.

“Republicans will not be reduced to being the tax collectors for the Obama economy”

Why is it that we believe Marco Rubio when he talks tough, but think that equally tough words from Mitch McConnell are simply a prelude to surrender.

Why is it that we believe Marco Rubio when he talks tough, but think that equally tough words from Mitch McConnell are simply a prelude to surrender. It’s almost like McConnell is a French name and surrender is genetic.

Despite our doubts, McConnell did talk tough. Is it possible that he means it?

Naaaaah!

“I was truly hopeful that the President could be persuaded to view the upcoming debt limit vote as an opportunity to cut Washington spending and the debt that has ballooned since he took office, and to preserve entitlements at the same time. But in the end, he just wasn’t interested in doing something of that magnitude that would pass. He really gave us three bad choices: higher taxes, smoke and mirrors, or default. And we refuse to accept any of them. Republicans will not be reduced to being the tax collectors for the Obama economy.

Three sons strangle mom on Christmas, bury her in back yard because she wanted to play Yahtzee

Tamara Lee Mason wanted to play Yahtzee, but now her sons may get Life.

Tamara Lee Mason wanted to play Yahtzee, but now her sons may get Life. (Get it? It was a play on the name of the board game called Life. Damn it. We hate it when we have to explain ‘em.)

But let’s get back to the story as told by the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

yahtzee-killers
Good thing mom didn't suggest Trivial Pursuit, because the boys really hate that game

Tamara Lee Mason wanted to play Yahtzee with her three sons after they all returned home from Christmas dinner at a friend’s. When the boys wouldn’t, she got mad, grabbed a few things and stormed out of the house.

Well, that may be the story the three sons are telling, but police aren’t buying it. They say Dylan Clemens, 25 and his half-brothers Andrew Cobb, 18, and Jacob Cobb, 17, committed matricide.

Mason’s decomposing remains were found Thursday buried in the back yard of her home in Alberta, a town of about 130 people in far western Minnesota.

The charges said Jacob Cobb strangled his mother on the living room floor. Then he or his brother Andrew put a plastic bag over her head and tightened a belt around her neck. Clemens allegedly drove her body west to South Dakota, then east to Glenwood, Minn., before storing the corpse in a garbage can in a shed for months until the ground thawed enough for the two elder brothers to bury it.

To repeat: they strangled her, then put a plastic bag over her head and tightened a belt around her neck.

Dylan said, “Mom always said that a job worth doing is a job worth doing right.”

OK, he didn’t really say that but we kind of wish he had.

But what about other great talent? Terrific local and regional broadcasters who aren’t on the air where you live. The up-and-comers who have the potential to be step into Rush’s, Sean’s and Glenn’s shoes someday.

We asked talk radio program directors and talk show hosts around the country to name their favorite hosts. The criteria were simple: Hosts who aren’t nationally syndicated, who are currently big fish in smaller markets or large market hosts who are ready to break through nationally.

Oh, one other rule. We wanted hosts who didn’t just parrot Rush. We wanted unique, creative personalities that shine through on the air, who are a little quirky, people who made you sit up and take notice.

The result is our great collection of great local and regional talk show talent from around the country.

It all starts on Monday. Don’t miss it.
