Chanting “USA” at a football game is now offensive to Muslims

Liberals are the most sensitive people on the face of the planet. So we must – absolutely must – do everything we can to assure that these delicate lovers of peace are not offended by any of our words or actions.

Liberals are the most sensitive people on the face of the planet. So we must – absolutely must – do everything we can to assure that these delicate lovers of peace are not offended by any of our words or actions.

The Daily Illini carried this editorial by a pointy-headed academic and we break our normal rules by carrying it in full in hopes that you can learn the error of your jingoistic ways:

The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.

The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.

The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.

9/11 victim’s father says, “Obama was lecturing to us like we were racists and bigots”

We feel very badly for Riches. But in Obama’s world, anyone who disagrees with him is a radical and racist and bigot.

Jim Riches is a former deputy with the New York City Fire Department and father of a fallen 9/11 firefighter. His son Jimmy died the day before his 30th birthday.

“I am very upset, you know. I think Obama was lecturing to us yesterday, talking down to us like, you know, like everybody is a radical and a racist and a bigot.”

We feel very badly for Riches. But in Obama’s world, anyone who disagrees with him is a radical and racist and bigot.

It’s International Burn A Koran Day: We suggest you burn one onto a CD

Of course, IHateTheMedia.com is a 100% non-offensive website, which is why we would never suggest the actual burning of any religion’s Holy Book. That being said, what you choose to do with your own personal copy of the Koran after your burn it to a CD is up to you. We think these are some good ideas.

French newspaper ad blames us for 9/11 terror attacks (the World Trade Center was just too tall, damn it)

French newspaper Courrier International created an ad suggesting that we could have avoided 9/11 if we’d simply built the twin towers a bit shorter.

Every year, at least one advertiser somewhere in the world is guaranteed to exploit the 9/11 attacks with a tasteless ad.

French newspaper Courrier International gets the “honor” this year with an ad suggesting that we could have avoided 9/11 if we’d simply built the twin towers a bit shorter. The ad shows two jets flying over a substantially shorter World Trade Center along with the headline, “Learn to anticipate.”

ad france world trade center

MyFoxLA has the tasteless details:

The website Ads of the World reported that Saatchi & Saatchi France is the agency behind the ad.

The Montreal Gazette reported that the campaign is an attempt to imply that the newspaper’s coverage will help readers anticipate major events.

The 9/11 terror attack are only one of the events used in the promotion. The campaign also uses the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy and the 1969 moon landing.

Many who have posted comments about the ad on various websites are upset about its insensitivity.

“Stupid beyond belief. There will NEVER be a right time to reference 9/11 in advertising,” reads one comment on the website AdFreak.com. “Oooh, I know, perhaps the Saatchi creatives could do one on the deportation of gypsies from their country,” quipped another post on the site.

Considering that the campaign features three American news events, perhaps the campaign should feature a new headline:

France. Where you can anticipate that nothing of any significance will ever happen.

“The Path to 9/11” – The film the Clintons (still) don’t want you to see.

“The Path to 9/11,” a two-part five-hour miniseries, aired only once on ABC in 2006, yet is still not available on DVD. Why? The series was a $40 million investment for the network which drew 25 million viewers and received seven Emmy nominations. So why wouldn’t the network want to recoup its investment?

Why? The series was a $40 million investment for the network which drew 25 million viewers and received seven Emmy nominations. So why wouldn’t the network want to recoup its investment?

The suppression and censorship appear to be due to pure politics and legacy-protection, primarily on behalf of the Clintons, although neither Bill Clinton nor George W. Bush came off in a particularly heroic light in the film.

As The Los Angeles Times reported in 2007, “the miniseries’ writer, Cyrus Nowrasteh, believes it’s crystal clear: Powerful forces are out to protect Bill Clinton’s presidential legacy and shield Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) from any potential collateral damage in her bid for the White House.

“Nowrasteh, also one of the miniseries’ many producers, said he was told by a top executive at ABC Studios that ‘if Hillary weren’t running for president, this wouldn’t be a problem.'”

Perhaps Hillary is still holding out hopes for the nomination in 2012. Otherwise this film certainly ought to be available by now.

Meet your government: Obama’s Green Jobs Czar thinks America got what it deserved on 9-11

Van Jones, President Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar,” an admitted black nationalist and radical communist, on 09/12/01, led a vigil in Oakland, California to express solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans.

Don't let the warm smile fool you. This man wants to destroy your way of life.
Don't let the warm smile fool you. This man wants to destroy your way of life.

Van Jones, President Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar,” an admitted black nationalist and radical communist, is either crazy or dangerous. Maybe both.

On 9/12/01, he led a vigil in Oakland, California to express solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans as well as what he called the victims of “U.S. imperialism” around the world. It was spearheaded by Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a Communist revolutionary group founded and lead by Jones.

Get this:

“Reclaiming Revolution,” STORM’s official manifesto, proudly states that the purpose of the vigil was to express solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans and to mourn the civilians killed in the terrorist attacks.

They should have stopped there, but went on to say, “as well as the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world.”

“We honored those who lost their lives in the attack,” the manifesto said, “and those who would surely lose their lives in subsequent U.S. attacks overseas.”

Equally. The victims of 9/11, the “victims” of American imperialism, and victims of American attacks that had not yet happened. So STORM was not only Communist, but clairvoyant. Their logo should be a hammer and a sickle and a crystal ball.

2012 cannot come soon enough.

Manipulator-in-Chief reassures 9/11 families, then frees terrorists

Debra Burlingame found out words and actions are two completely different things in the Obama administration.
Debra Burlingame found out words and actions are two completely different things in the Obama administration.
“We’d been had.”

That’s how Debra Burlingame sums up her meeting with the President. She was part of a group of USS Cole and 9/11 victims’ families who went to the White House to discuss Obama’s Guantanamo detainee policies.

“News reports described the meeting as a touching and powerful coming together of the president and these long-suffering families,” Burlingame wrote in the Wall Street Journal. Obama reassured them that jihadists wouldn’t be freed.

But 17 days later, the al Qaeda operative selected by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed for a post-9/11 attack with Jose Padilla was released.

The White House liaison to the families refused to answer questions.

“Given all the developments since our meeting with the president,” Burlingame said, “it is now evident that his words to us bore no relation to his intended actions on national security policy and detainee issues. But the narrative about Mr. Obama’s successful meeting with 9/11 and Cole families has been written, and the press has moved on.”

She concludes with this devastating summation, “The Obama team has established a pattern that should be plain for all to see. When controversy erupts or legitimate policy differences are presented by well-meaning people, send out the celebrity president to flatter and charm.”

Narrow-minded critics might say Obama promised Burlingame one thing, then did the opposite.

But the President prefers to say he gave her hope, then gave her change.

Headline of the Day
“Waterboarding Used on 9/11 Mastermind 183 Times”

waterboarding2Wikipedia says 2,998 people died in the terrorist attacks on 9/11. So we’d say Khalid Shaikh Mohammed still owes us at least another 2,815 waterboarding sessions.

Time to pay up, Khalid.

Dutch TV show finds Osama bin Laden “Not Guilty.” IHateTheMedia.com finds the Dutch “Not Rational.”

The Dutch should stick to what they know. Tulips. Windmills. Wooden shoes. Marijuana. Sex shops.
The Dutch are generally pretty rational. What the hell happened here?

The Netherlands public TV network runs a show called “Devil’s Advocate.” On its Wednesday night show, a five-member jury and the studio audience listened to all the evidence and concluded that there wasn’t enough proof to convict bin Laden of being the brains behind the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. This, of course, is despite the fact that bin Laden has repeatedly, proudly taken credit for the attacks.

The show features famed Dutch defense attorney Gerard Spong defending some of the world’s worst criminals. The silver-tongued Spong convinced the jury that bin Laden’s connection to Sept. 11 was merely “Western propaganda.”

While they were at it, the jury also concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove bin Laden is the top dog in al-Qaida.

Next week on Devil’s Advocate, the jury will decide that black is white, up is down, and global warming causes global cooling.
