“My answer is clearly yes, it is a failure,” he said in a television interview when asked about the policy which advocates that host societies welcome and foster distinct cultural and religious immigrant groups.

“Of course we must all respect differences, but we do not want… a society where communities coexist side by side.

“If you come to France, you accept to melt into a single community, which is the national community, and if you do not want to accept that, you cannot be welcome in France,” the right-wing president said.

“The French national community cannot accept a change in its lifestyle, equality between men and women… freedom for little girls to go to school,” he said.

“We have been too concerned about the identity of the person who was arriving and not enough about the identity of the country that was receiving him,” Sarkozy said in the TFI channel show.

As we reported the other day, the leaders of Great Britain, Germany and Australia have also condemned multiculturalism recently.

The European Union Times reports on the latest little wrinkle in Obama’s grand plan:

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today authored by France’s Directorate-General for External Security (DGSE) and recently “obtained” by the FSB shockingly quotes French President Nicolas Sarkozy [photo top right with Obama] as stating that President Barack Obama is “a dangerous[ly] aliéné”, which translates into his, Obama, being a “mad lunatic”, or in the American vernacular, “insane”.

According to this report, Sarkozy was “appalled” at Obama’s “vision” of what the World should be under his “guidance” and “amazed” at the American Presidents unwillingness to listen to either “reason” or “logic”. Sarkozy’s meeting where these impressions of Obama were formed took place nearly a fortnight ago at the White House in Washington D.C., and upon his leaving he “scolded” Obama and the US for not listening closely enough to what the rest of the World has to say.

Apparently, as this report details, the animosity between Sarkozy and Obama arose out of how best the West can deal with the growing threat posed by rising Islamic fundamentalism. Both Sarkozy and his European neighbors had previously been supported in their efforts by the United States in forming an alliance to strengthen the integration of Muslim peoples into their societies, and has including France and Belgium moving to ban the wearing of burqa’s.

We’d say that Smart Diplomacy™ has now been replaced by Insane Diplomacy™, but we’re really having a little trouble telling the difference between the two.

According to CNN, “President Nicolas Sarkozy called the new president ‘my buddy’ and tried urgently to be the first world leader to meet with him…” but “…after a year in office, France’s honeymoon with Obama seems clearly over.”

In case you’re wondering how anyone could dislike the Greatest President In History, especially since the left is constantly reminding us of how much the world loves us now that The One has come, the article gives at least three reasons:

1. “First there were published reports that Sarkozy didn’t think Obama knew his briefing books during the G-20 economic summit.”
2. “Then came widespread sniping along official corridors here that Obama was not measuring up when dealing with world leaders, like Russia’s Dimitri Medvedev.”
3. “And then members of Sarkozy’s government openly complained about how long it was taking Obama to make up his mind about Afghanistan.”

But just to make sure that we know who is really to blame, CNN asks the penetrating question, “So one year on, has President Obama, like his predecessor George W. Bush, lost France as an ally?”

Damn that George Bush. He probably caused the loss in Massachusetts, too.

As the WSJ described the surreal scene at the UN, “At least the French President tried to sound tough, which isn’t hard when you stand next to Mr. Obama.” (Ouch!) After Obama used most of his United Nations speech to blather on about climate change and “a world without nuclear weapons,” Sarkozy brought him back to the real world.

Obama said, “We must never stop until we see the day when nuclear arms have been banished from the face of the earth.”

“We live in the real world, not the virtual world,” Sarkozy responded. “And the real world expects us to make decisions.”

Sarkozy continued to school Obama with more teachable moments:

“President Obama dreams of a world without weapons … but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite.

“Iran since 2005 has flouted five security council resolutions. North Korea has been defying council resolutions since 1993.

“I support the extended hand of the Americans, but what good has proposals for dialogue brought the international community? More uranium enrichment and declarations by the leaders of Iran to wipe a UN member state off the map,” he continued, referring to Israel.

Talk about timing: Just as Obama wants to unilaterally lay down his nuclear arms, another inconvenient truth crops up in the form of a second Iranian nuclear facility. Seems like the last time Obama talked about disarming, the North Koreans tested another missile. Not that it fazed Obama.

Needless to say, we were shocked—shocked!—that Sarkozy’s mocking response to Obama’s utopian UN speechifying went unreported in U.S. newspapers.

Is it any wonder that newspapers continue to lose readers when they won’t even print news?

One quick disclaimer: We hate France. We hate the French. We hate Napoleon. We hate DeGaulle. We have Charles Aznavour. We hate Jerry Lewis just because the French love him. We like Carla Bruni, but only because she’s hot.

Sarkozy is calling time out on President Obama’s attempts to reassert American leadership, calling them as unoriginal, unsubstantial and overrated.

The French president is a little pissy about the superstar treatment Obama received on his European tour a couple weeks ago.

According to the Times of London:

The American President’s call to free the world of the menace of a nuclear nightmare” was hot air, Mr Sarkozy’s diplomatic staff told him in a report. “It was rhetoric – not a speech on American security policy but an export model aimed at improving the image of the United States,” they said. Most of Mr Obama’s proposals had already been made by the Bush administration and Washington was dragging its feet on disarmament and treaties against nuclear proliferation, the leaked report said.

Personal pique and French politics are also behind the souring of Mr Sarkozy’s self-promoted honeymoon with the United States. On the personal side, the French President is needled by the adulation for an unproven US leader whose stardom has eclipsed what he sees as his established record as a world troubleshooter. “The President is annoyed by what he sees as the naivety and the herd mentality of the media,” said a journalist who is privy to Elysée thinking.

One member of IHateTheMedia.com’s Editorial Board suffered through two years of French in high school. Imagine the outrage in the media if George Bush had mistakenly written a diplomatic letter to the former leader of an ally instead of its current leader. Sadly, but not so surprisingly, that’s exactly what President Obama just did.

The online version of leading French newspaper Le Figaro says President Obama sent a letter to French Jacques Chirac saying that he wants to “work with him” over the next four years.

Oops! Chirac isn’t president of France anymore. Nicolas Sarkozy was elected to that office in May 2007.

Obama’s letter said, “I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world.”

Coming just a few days after Obama insulted British Prime Minster Gordon Brown, this is apparently part of a undisclosed plan by Obama to alienate NATO members one-by-one.

In other diplomatic news, President Obama has also sent letters to Russian Czar Nicholas II, English Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, and German Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck.
