Obama says he’ll fight to keep his Peace Prize

Imagine the hurt President Obama felt when he heard that his leftist compadre, Bolivian President Evo Morales, said the Nobel committee should revoke his Peace Prize.

Imagine the hurt President Obama felt when he heard that his leftist compadre, Bolivian President Evo Morales, said the Nobel committee should revoke his Peace Prize.

But this brave, resolute man continues to look forward and responds to such suggestions with a determined, “Screw you.”

obama-sweating
"Give back my Peace Prize? I do declare you give me the vapors."

Politico reports on President Obama’s rousing defense of those who gave him an award he clearly didn’t deserve:

President Obama defended his Nobel Peace Prize on Tuesday …

“When I received that award, I specifically said there was an irony because I was already dealing with two wars,” Obama said in an interview with CNN from El Salvador. “So I am accustomed to this contradiction of being both a commander-in-chief but also someone who aspires to peace.”

Saying he is focused on ensuring that Libyans can “live out their own aspirations,” Obama defended America’s involvement in Libya, saying, “we’re not invading a country, we’re not acting alone – we’re acting under a mandate issued by the United Nations Security Council in an unprecedented fashion and with unprecedented speed.”

And he said again that the U.S. military has already saved lives there. “I think the American people don’t see any contradiction in somebody who cares about peace also wanting to make sure that people aren’t butchered because of a dictator who wants to cling to power,” he said.

Let’s review: Hasn’t pulled out of Iraq, ordered more troops into Afghanistan, and launched airstrikes on Libya.

Add ‘em all together and your Nobel Peace Prize becomes an ignoble peace prize.

Ganging up on Obama: World leaders want Nobel Committee to revoke his Peace Prize

Now we understand why President Obama came out so strongly against bullying. He must have learned in advance that world leaders were going to gang up on him.

Now we understand why President Obama came out so strongly against bullying. He must have learned in advance that world leaders were going to gang up on him.

DigitalJournal.com has the bully pulpit:

The Bolivian President and a Russian political leader have launched a campaign to revoke Obama’s honour after the US attacked Libya.

revoke obama peace prize
The ol' Nobel Peace Prize Committee is looking a little foolish now, isn't it?

Liberal Democratic Party of Russia leader and Vice-Chairman of the State Duma Vladimir Zhirinovsky released a statement today calling for the Nobel Prize Committee to take back the honour bestowed on US President Barack Obama in 2009.Zhirinovsky said the attacks were “another outrageous act of aggression by NATO forces and, in particular, the United States,” and that the attacks demonstrated a “colonial policy” with “one goal: to establish control over Libyan oil and the Libyan regime.” He said the prize was now hypocritical as a result.

Bolivian President Evo Morales echoed the call: “How is it possible that a Nobel Peace Prize winner leads a gang to attack and invade? This is not a defence of human rights or self-determination.”

Morales won the Gaddafi International Prize for Human Rights in 2006.

To use one of the President’s favorite phrases, let us be clear: We’re positive that Obama never deserved the Nobel Peace Prize in the first place, but equally confident that Morales undoubtedly deserved the Gaddafi award.

Employment experts collect Nobel Prize, 10.1 percent of Americans collect pink slips.

nobel-economics-prize
The 2010 Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to three guys who still have jobs

Not to be outdone by by last year’s spectacle of the Obama Peace Prize, the Nobel Committee has committed yet another excellent selection.

As reported by CNN Money:

Three economists will share the 2010 Nobel Prize for their work on how government policy affects unemployment, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced on Monday.

The Nobel Prize went to Peter Diamond of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.; Dale Mortensen of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.; and Christopher Pissarides of the London School of Economics and Political Sciences.

The three received the prize for research on how economic policy affects the job market. Their theories “help us understand the ways in which unemployment, job vacancies, and wages are affected by regulation and economic policy,” said the academy in a statement.

You will have to forgive our sub Nobel Laureate level intelligence for just a moment. But it seems that in a world in which rabid unemployment is the scourge of the age, the last thing anyone should be do is reward employment experts.

In fact, it might not be such a bad idea to suspend the prize altogether until every mainstream economist alive circa 2008 has either retired or moved onto that great Ivory Think Tank in the Sky.

Donald Trump doesn’t want to work in Hollywood anymore

Donald Trump thinks Al Gore should be stripped of his fraudulently-obtained Nobel Peace Prize, an opinion that will not endear him to any of Hollywood’s greenies.

Donald Trump thinks Al Gore should be stripped of his fraudulently-obtained Nobel Peace Prize, an opinion that will not endear him to any of Hollywood’s greenies.

Naturally, the love Al Gore in the land of make believe. So a couple more comments like this one and they’ll run the star of television’s “The Apprentice” right out of Tinseltown.

The New York Post reports Trump’s comments:

“With the coldest winter ever recorded, with snow setting record levels up and down the coast, the Nobel committee should take the Nobel Prize back from Al Gore,” the tycoon told members of his Trump National Golf Club in Westchester in a recent speech. “Gore wants us to clean up our factories and plants in order to protect us from global warming, when China and other countries couldn’t care less. It would make us totally noncompetitive in the manufacturing world, and China, Japan and India are laughing at America’s stupidity.” The crowd of 500 stood up and cheered.

Next time you’re out in Hollywood, Donald, maybe you could suggest that Gore return his Oscar, too.

Michelle Obama asks her husband a question everyone would like answered

Before picking up his prize and delivering an eloquent speech, the president and first lady visited the Nobel Institute to sign a guest book in the room where the Nobel Committee meets to vote on prizes. Mr. Obama carefully wrote seven lines of text, prompting Mrs. Obama to ask…

Only a wife could talk to the President this way.
Only a wife could talk to the President this way.

The Christian Science Monitor reports this human interest story from Oslo:

Before picking up his prize and delivering an eloquent speech, the president and first lady visited the Nobel Institute to sign a guest book in the room where the Nobel Committee meets to vote on prizes. Mr. Obama carefully wrote seven lines of text, prompting Mrs. Obama to ask, “Are you writing a book?”

No, Michelle, if he had been writing a book Bill Ayers would have been there.

Obama concedes defeat on global warming. In his own weasely way.

meeting is a waste of time,” but his actions said it loud and clear.

But President Obama, the polar bears are counting on you!
But President Obama, the polar bears are counting on you!

He didn’t actually say, “The whole damn Copenhagen global warming meeting is a waste of time,” but his actions said it loud and clear.

Here’s how the Times UK tells the story:

President Obama will almost certainly not travel to the Copenhagen climate change summit in December and may instead use his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech to set out US environmental goals, The Times has learnt.

With healthcare reform clogging his domestic agenda and no prospect of a comprehensive climate treaty in Copenhagen, Mr Obama may disappoint campaigners and foreign leaders, including Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband, who have urged him to attend to boost the hopes of a breakthrough.

The White House would not comment on Mr Obama’s travel plans yesterday, but administration officials have said privately that “Oslo is plenty close” — a reference to the Nobel ceremony that falls on December 10, two days into the Copenhagen meeting.

The White House confirmed that the President would be in Oslo to accept the prize, but a source close to the Administration said it was “hard to see the benefit” of his going to Copenhagen if there was no comprehensive deal for him to close or sign. Another expert, who did not want to be named, said he would be “really, really shocked” if Mr Obama went to Copenhagen, adding that European hopes about the power of his Administration to transform the climate change debate in a matter of months bore little relation to reality. The comprehensive climate change treaty that for years has been the goal of the Copenhagen conference was now an “unrealistic” prospect, Yvo de Boer, the UN official guiding the process, said last week.

Please allow us to translate President Obama’s actions into words:

“Hell, man, I’m not going to Copenhagen unless I can claim credit for its success and look like the conquering hero I am in my own mind. This thing’s going down in flames, so maybe I’ll send Hillary.”

Or words to that effect.

Deciding vote on Obama Nobel Peace Prize cast by radical Socialist and KGB informer

Although it was originally reported that President Obama had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after a unanimous vote, the final tally was actually a much close 3-2 vote.

Thorbjørn Jaglan, leader of Socialist International, KGB dupe, Barack Obama voter
Thorbjørn Jaglan, leader of Socialist International, KGB dupe, Barack Obama voter

Although it was originally reported that President Obama had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after a unanimous vote, the final tally was actually a much close 3-2 vote.

The Conservative Party’s Kaci Kullmann Five and the Socialist Left’s Aagot Valle voted no.

The swing vote that broke the 2-2 tie and awarded the Nobel to Obama was cast by committee Chairman Thorbjørn Jaglan, President of the Storting.

Wikipedia (yeah, we know the problems with Wikipedia, but we’re quoting it anyway) says, “Since 1999, Jagland is also one of several vice presidents of the Socialist International. Jagland stated that the left wing in Norway does not use Socialist International enough. From 2000 to 2006, he chaired the Socialist International Committee on the Middle East, and he has outspokenly opposed the perceived presence of islamophobia in Western societies.”

They also said, “…a former Soviet spy described Jagland as a friendly politician during the 1970s and 80s. Jagland said he held diplomatic talks with the Soviet unions and that all the conversations were innocent exchanges between them.[14] He was classified as a ’confidential contact’ by the Committee for State Security (KGB).“

Well, surely, you say, President Obama can’t be held responsible if some foreign socialist wants to give him a multimillion dollar award. It’s not like he named a socialist to his administration or anything.

Not so fast.

E&E News reports that Carol Browner was also an official of the Socialist International until forced to resign due to negative publicity surrounding her appointment as Obama’s Climate Czar.

So now we know who thinks Obama deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. And we know whom Obama appoints to key positions.

So the only remaining question is how anyone could possibly believe this guy’s not a socialist.

Please sit before reading this: NY Times says Obama should accept Nobel on behalf of American military

Thomas Friedman of the New York Times thinks Obama should accept the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the American military. Hey, wait. Is this April 1?

Ssssssh! Don't tell any of Thomas Friedman's liberal friends that he supports the American military
Ssssssh! Don't tell any of Thomas Friedman's liberal friends that he supports the American military

Thomas Friedman of the New York Times thinks Obama should accept the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the American military.

Hey, wait. Is this April 1? Nope. Just checked the calendar and it’s October 14. The only other option is that Friedman has had an extremely rare moment of clarity.

What follows are words you never thought you’d see from Friedman and/or the Times:

Let me begin by thanking the Nobel committee for awarding me this prize, the highest award to which any statesman can aspire. As I said on the day it was announced, ‘I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by this prize.’ Therefore, upon reflection, I cannot accept this award on my behalf at all.

But I will accept it on behalf of the most important peacekeepers in the world for the last century — the men and women of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

I will accept this award on behalf of the American soldiers who landed on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, to liberate Europe from the grip of Nazi fascism. I will accept this award on behalf of the American soldiers and sailors who fought on the high seas and forlorn islands in the Pacific to free East Asia from Japanese tyranny in the Second World War.

… Until the words of Isaiah are made true and lasting — and nations never again lift up swords against nations and never learn war anymore — we will need peacekeepers. Lord knows, ours are not perfect, and I have already moved to remedy inexcusable excesses we’ve perpetrated in the war on terrorism.

But have no doubt, those are the exception. If you want to see the true essence of America, visit any U.S. military outpost in Iraq or Afghanistan. You will meet young men and women of every race and religion who work together as one, far from their families, motivated chiefly by their mission to keep the peace and expand the borders of freedom.

So for all these reasons — and so you understand that I will never hesitate to call on American soldiers where necessary to take the field against the enemies of peace, tolerance and liberty — I accept this peace prize on behalf of the men and women of the U.S. military: the world’s most important peacekeepers.

Thomas Friggin’ Friedman supports the U. S. military? Proof positive that there is a God.

NBC cancels series before it deserves it, Obama gets Nobel prize before deserving it. It’s just that kind of day.

It was a very weird, but very consistent day. At the same time NBC has cancelled “Southland” before it ever aired, Barack Obama was given a Nobel Peace Prize prior to accomplishing anything to deserve it.

Southland didn't deserve what it got. Neither did Barack Obama.

It was a very weird, but very consistent day. At the same time NBC has cancelled “Southland” before it ever aired, Barack Obama was given a Nobel Peace Prize prior to accomplishing anything to deserve it.

Jay Leno’s comment on the cancellation story was, “NBC’s ratings aren’t so hot. In fact — and this is true — this week the network canceled the show ‘Southland’ before it even came back on the air. Next thing you know they’ll be canceling shows before writers can even think of them.”

Had Leno done a Nobel Peace Prize version it would have said, “Barack Obama’s approval ratings aren’t so hot. In fact – and this is true – today the Nobel committee gave the President the Nobel Peace Prize before he’s actually accomplished anything. Next thing you know they’ll be giving Presidents awards before they’re even elected.”

What’s that? Obama was nominated two weeks prior to his inauguration? So the prize couldn’t possibly be based on anything he’s done? Hmmmm.

Congratulations, President Obama. We’re sure you’re proud to be take your place alongside other peaceful men like Yassar Arafat.

We pause now to honor another outstanding black American who deserves the Nobel Peace Prize

We’re tired of all the talk about President Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize. Let’s talk instead about another fine, upstanding black man who has been unfairly denied the same honor for far too long.

Blah, blah, blah. We’re tired of all the talk about President Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize. Let’s talk instead about another fine, upstanding black man who has been unfairly denied the same honor for far too long.

We beg, we beseech, we implore, we demand that the Nobel Prize Committee right this long-standing wrong.

Give the damn award to Rodney King. And give it now.

Appeasement Prize. They meant to say Appeasement Prize.

An audience gasped audibly when Barack Obama was announced as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. How to you say WTF in Swedish? They meant to say Appeasement Prize.

Tennessee senate may authorize Al Gore statue

ice_gore According to WSMV.com, “A resolution urging the creation of statues to be built on the Tennessee Capitol grounds of the state’s two Nobel Peace Prize winners, Al Gore and Cordell Hull, is on its way to a full Senate vote.”

This will not be the first time The Goracle has been honored with a statue.

Earlier this winter, during a particularly bitter cold snap, Fairbanks, Alaska businessman Craig Compeau commissioned this lovely 8-1/2 foot tall ice sculpture of the former Vice President and current scam artist.

Congratulations, Mr. Gore.
