Yeah, we hate the media. But we hate people who regulate the media even more.
For example, the British Press Complaints Commission (yes, there really is such an organization or as they would say, organization) happily reports that the Sun UK has issued the following correction:
“In an article on February 3, we implied two thirds of Haitians drank goats’ blood while practising voodoo. We are happy to make clear this is not the case.”
That’s all fine and dandy, British Press Complaints Commission. But it brings up some questions as to exactly what the Sun UK is actually correcting.
Are they saying that a different percentage of Haitians drink goats’ blood while practicing voodoo? If so, is the percentage higher or lower?
Are they sayig that two thirds of Haitians drink goats’ blood, but not while they’re practicing voodoo?
Are they saying that Haitians practice voodoo, but not while drinking goats’ blood?
Looks to us like they also need a British Press Clarifications Commission.
