CHARLESTON: Roof Would Have Failed A Background Check. Yep, his daddy bought him the pistol for his 21st birthday, which was after his felony drug arrest. A big no-no.
Editor’s Note: CNN is now reporting:
1. Shortly after he turned 21 in April, Dylann Roof got a gun.
2. He himself bought the .45-caliber handgun used in the shooting last April at a Charleston gun store, according to the two officials.
3. His grandfather says Roof was given “birthday money” and that the family didn’t know what Roof did with it.
Regardless of how he got the gun it would have been after his felony drug arrest in February and illegal for him to purchase or have.
