You’ll never learn this from the biased liberal media, but Barack Obama is Chicago’s answer to malaprop-prone comedian Norm Crosby. He has a habit of throwing out those big ol’ Harvard vocabulary words while intending to use words with completely different meanings, but similar sounds.
For example, last month he said we were on “precipice” of achieving universal health care. The second meaning of precipice is “The brink of a dangerous or disastrous situation” and although we’re confident that’s not the meaning President Obama meant to convey, we have to give him credit for refreshing honesty.
Now, perhaps, we’re being too harsh on the President. After all, the first meaning of precipice is “an overhanging or extremely steep mass of rock, such as a crag or the face of a cliff” and for all we know he said it while standing on the edge of Mount Rushmore surveying where his giant head should go.
(But then this morning, as you can see in the video, we watched him not even being able to pronounce the fancy-shmancy word in his “Kill the Bankers” populist speech.)
Lest you think he simply misspoke the first time, check out this report from ABC News:
“President Obama said this evening that the nation is on the ‘doorstop’ of accomplishing the health insurance reform, and Republicans will be mistaken if they believe they can campaign against it during this year’s midterm elections.
Of course, we assume he meant doorstep, since a doorstop is “an object or device used to hold a door open or closed, or to prevent a door from opening too widely.”
If he actually used the word he intended to use, there can only be one conclusion:
The President knows ObamaCare is going to fail and he intends to use the 2000-page bloated pig of a bill to prop open the door to the Oval Office to provide even easier accesss for union leaders and lobbyists.
In which case, we apologize.
