Milton Friedman Saw the Euro Crisis Coming: Milton Friedman was a mixed bag. He brought us the withholding tax, helped bring about the end of convertibility of US Dollar into gold and thought that if the Fed had only inflated the money supply before that dark October day in 1929 that they could have prevented The Great Depression. However when he was right, which was often, he was spectacularly right. This is one of those times.
