In between whatever he was so busy with, President Obama still managed to find time to phone in a speech from an undisclosed part of the White House on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. But you can bet he won’t be too busy to pick up his Nobel Peace Prize in person.
During his prerecorded speech, President Obama made this self-referential observation, “Few would have foreseen … that a united Germany would be led by a woman from Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent. But human destiny is what human beings make of it.”
Few would have also foreseen how the One would deftly work in a tribute to Himself during his tribute to the fall of the Wall. However, Obama’s Teleprompter somehow forgot to mention Communism, the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, Mikhail Gorbachev, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Lech Walesa or Pope John Paul.
In Obama’s telling, the Wall just got built by itself, and was mysteriously torn down one day for no apparent reason.
