President Obama took time out of his very busy schedule to record an important YouTube message for the people of the Ivory Coast.
We suppose that’s all well and good. Except for a couple things:
First, the President refers to the nation as Côte d’Ivoire instead of Ivory Coast for a good reason – French is its official language, but they also speak 60 native dialects with Dioula the most widely spoken. Yet the President recorded his message in English.
Second, the per capita GDP of Côte d’Ivoire is a mere $1800 per year, so we question how many of the nation’s residents have computers on which to view the President’s message.
On the other hand, Côte d’Ivoire’s unemployment rate is estimated to be 40-50%, so perhaps its citizens have spent their ample idle hours sitting around learning English and watching YouTube videos.
Hey, have you seen the one about the dog that says, “Je t’aime.”
That’s a damn laugh riot.
