A toy for those that have more money than they know what to do with. Still, it’s like a great work of art.

I rag on people all the time about living within their means, don’t waste money on things you don’t need, but if I had it I’m afraid I would end up being stupid when it comes to old cars. But I want the real muscle cars of the 1960’s and 70’s. A ’68 396 SS Camaro. A ’67 Mustang fastback with the 325 horse 289 and 4 speed tranny. (check out a Bullit movie clip with Steve McQueen) A buddy used to have a 1970 440 ‘Cuda convertible. You talk about a girl catcher! That car would tear up the road and we rarely left a beer joint alone! 1968 396 Chevelle. 1970 400 Firebird. Any Corvette older than 1970. Those were great American cars and if I had the cash I would have one of each.

One of my brothers is kind of strange though. He found a 1960 Isetta and has paid about $20,000 to get it restored. It was built by BMW, has a one cylinder engine putting out 18 horsepower, a 4 speed transmission and maxes out at about 45 MPH. He trailers it to car shows, county fairs, that kind of things when he can and he has a blast cruising along in the parades while his wife throws candy to the kids watching.

Brother is pretty smart too. There are only 14 Isetta’s registered to operate on the highways in the entire county. He has gotten offers of $100,000 cash for the car since he got it restored. Check the first picture in my post, the red car. It looks exactly like brothers car.

My dream car is a 1969 GTO Judge. I know they had minor performance issues from the factory, but with a little tweaking it would be a beast!

You remember the V-6 fuel injected turbo Buick that came out with in the late 70’s? I think it was in a Regal? They were the same. All kinds of trouble with the fuel injection was the main problem but once a little tweaking was done those things would run a hole in the wind!

A friend in town has one and when he bought it it was pretty ragged perfomance wise but he bought books, he went online, he talked to old pros, and finally got that thing running like a top. And it is one scary car to drive! Stand on it, the rear tires come loose in a heartbeat and you better be hanging on because you are going for a ride!

A car like that is like a beautiful woman, you just can’t get enough!
