We would have paid big money to see this incident. Unfortunately, there’s no video of this one, just anonymous reports by eyewitnesses at MSNBC.
The New York Post has the feel good story of the week:
Ed Schultz demonstrating how he attempted to commit professional suicide
MSNBC talk show screamer Ed Schultz had a meltdown in the network’s 30 Rock newsroom, shouting at staff, “I’m going to torch this [bleep]ing place.”
The hot-tempered anchor of “The Ed Show” lost it during a phone call in the packed studio and slammed down the phone before exploding.
As astonished MSNBC staff members fell silent, Schultz glared around the room and yelled, “[Bleep]ers!”
A witness told us, “Ed was furious the network was running election-night promos and he wasn’t in them. He’d been arguing on the phone with marketing, then he slammed down the phone and exploded. It was like Mel Gibson had entered the newsroom.”
Fuming Schultz was immediately dragged in for a meeting with NBC News President Steve Capus and MSNBC President Phil Griffin following his Aug. 12 meltdown.
Our source added, “Schultz was told: ‘If you do that again, you are fired.’ He broke down crying.”
Sources say the hothead was pushed over the edge by MSNBC’s catering to bullying fellow anchor Keith Olbermann and its focus on golden girl Rachel Maddow.
Congratulations, Ed. It’s not easy to win the award for being the craziest person at MSNBC, but you’ve done it.

Ed’s just another MSNBC prima donna and probably the craziest talking head in a network full of lunatics. He didn’t get the air time he KNOWS he deserves. So he threw a fit.

I recall his conservative talk days while at KFGO in Fargo, ND. Over time, he “moderated”… this, coincidentally, as his show went from local to regional. When it was announced that he would be going from regional to national, he stayed moderate in the regional slot and did lib talk in the national show. Always knew there had to be liberal money driving his transformation. The guy’s a phony. He must be in it for the moolah and that’s all.

MG, Special Ed is a bully, & bullies get mad when there is people spit in their face(so to speak)when confronted. The man has a white hot temper, & it has gotten the better of him more then a few times. It will be his demise.
One more thing, Ed is a big guy, he played college football at Minnesota State Moorhead, & was an All-American & led the NAIA(small college football)in passing as a QB in 1977. He then washed out in the Canadian Football League with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. My guess is the guy can take a hit, & his brazen attitude served him well in football. But he does’nt know how to check himself, & it gets him into trouble all the time now. He’s not worth the trouble, & his ass ain’t worth kicking.

Hello Danybhoy, I played ball, and I protected people in my shool who got beat up from bully’s like ED.. Read my book.!
Anyway, growing up in my family in the west side of Maryvale, and a high school with 4,000 students, we had gangs…I would walk girls and boys home from getting beat up.
I was only 123lbs…all I played nose gaurd in high school…I could tell you streat stories that you can’t write a script what I have lived.
I’m now 210 and have a 32 in waist…
I would like to met him in the cage at our local gym…BOOM BABY!
But since he is a coward and can only threaten an intity like FOX News, this is why Ed could not choose a particular achnor, becaues some I believe would hand Special Ed his ass..
I was just commenting on what he said about FOX in a treating way, if anything happens to FOX or it’s employees he will be the suspect they look into.
