Arkansas students punished with paddles for walking out: reports. Wow! We saw this and didn’t believe our own eyes. If this was California the lawsuits would be flying and the local news stations would be whining.

Good morning fellow haters! How many of you have a hangover today? Tell the truth now, we will laugh with you.

It’s a good thing I don’t get hangovers, never have. After I signed off with some Meatloaf last night my neighbors called, they were ready to party! I had fed them earlier with corned beef and cabbage, they returned the favor with home made hot wings, not that store bought crap but real chicken wings his wife fried then coated with her own sauce. Good stuff Maynard! And, of course, there was some drinking involved. I tend to get feathers growing out my ass when I drink Wild Turkey and they were growing last night! We had a ball and I hope all of you here did too.

Got to cut loose once in a while friends, otherwise you go nuts thinking about how screwed up things are these days in our country.

I never took a swat/pop. I came close, but never got one. I was more afraid of my Dad. When you got a swat at my school, they also sent notice home for both parents to sign. My Dad was a sociopath and would have delivered ten times the punishment and grounding. Kept me in line for the most part.
Our vice principle had a paddle made from the center section of a Louisville Slugger, that had holes drilled( probably slowed the thing down, but we all thought it made it faster) in it. I was sent to his office with another kid for horseplay in the photo lab. He was under the impression we had been in a fight. He told us that his son had broken that bat driving in the winning run in a big play off game eons before we were sent to his office. While he recounted the story (he did this as a slow build up for fear factor)of his son’s play off glory, the other kid started laughing, that got me to laughing as well. He stood about to completely lose his shit and asked why we were suddenly such good buddies after a fight. The note the teacher sent with us to the office said we had been fighting. We gave him a more accurate version of what happened. He cooled down, verified our story and sent us to detention for a day. No pop and surprisingly my Dad didn’t lose his shit because I got detention, for once in my life.

If this were Kalifornia the national guard would have been called out, Kamalass Harris and Nancy Piglosi would be screaming, and thousands of high schoolers would be hiding in safe spaces.

Enough gloom and doom crap, it St. Patricks Day so lets party! A blast from the past, for those of you who are old enough. You guys remember when you were 17? Do you gals? (snicker)

There are several proverbs in the Bible encouraging corporal punishment…
Proverbs 13:24 Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
Proverbs 19:18 Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives.
Proverbs 22:15 A youngster’s heart is filled with foolishness, but physical discipline will drive it far away.
Proverbs 23:13 Don’t fail to discipline your children. They won’t die if you spank them.
Proverbs 29:15-17 A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother. When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall. Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.
One of Satan’s greatest achievements was getting God and discipline out of our schools.

The one thing all those Bible verses have in common is the phrase “your children.” In other words, PARENTS do the corporal punishment. I don’t have a problem with what happened in Arkansas because the students apparently had a choice and chose the paddle instead of two days of detention. (I would have too.) But generally I don’t want idiotic education bureaucrats swatting my children. In fact I would object personally and strenuously if one of them tried.

Something of the sort happened to my sister in eighth grade. She was the biggest Goody Two-shoes in the world but one day she did something that angered the teacher (probably some sort of political comment knowing her) and he swatted her with a stapler. Unfortunately he used the wrong end of the stapler and the result was my sister got stapled in the butt. My father stopped at the school on the way to work the next morning, lifted that teacher off the ground by the front of his shirt, pinned him to the wall, and read to him from the Bible. (That’s an expression for you younger folks. It has nothing to do with a Bible.) Years later when I had that teacher for high school chemistry, he was still so intimidated by that incident he treated me with ridiculous deference.

Today’s school teachers are too political and mostly the wrong kind of political to trust with any discipline. The principle or vice principle gave the paddlings and only a paddle was used when I was in school and they were reserved for undisputed misbehaving. That was way back in the 60’s. True, if things were taken care of at home there would not be a need at school.

Hell JP, I was a hero in my school when I was in the 9th grade. Where I went to school a student got to sign the paddle of a teacher, the principle or coach. I got to sign the paddle of every teacher I had, the principle and my coach! I would take a swat or two from someone at the school instead of them calling my mother and telling her what stunt I had pulled! Because mom would have told dad what I did and the real ass whupping would have happened! Funny thing is, that was my last year of school. We were poor folks, dad worked like a slave but there was never enough money and I had four younger brothers. So I quit school and went to work. Then I joined the military when I was 17, mom had to sign the papers, and went on from there. Didn’t always do things right but all my brothers finished school, two even went to college. Because I always sent money home no matter what I was doing. One brother joined the Coast Guard a year after I did. He used his GI bill, went to a tech school and then worked for Intel for 32 years. Another bother works for Verison and will soon be able to retire. Another owns his own mechanics shop, has 10 employees and a good business. The baby brother retired after working 25 years at his local electric co-op as a lineman and now works with his son building custom cabinets for high dollar homes. We may have been born poor white trash but we didn’t stay that way because we were raised to work for what we wanted. And we did. And it started with a few butt whippings when we were in school.

School paddling? That’s a real blast from the past.
I predict it will be no more than 24 hours before some Progressive saint compares this incident to the Holocaust(probably unfavorably).
