We were pissed by the time we finished the first paragraph of this Associated Press story on Barack Obama’s Auntie Zeituni Onyango.

“Barack Obama’s Kenyan aunt lost her bid for asylum more than four years ago, and a judge ordered her deported. Instead, Zeituni Onyango stayed, living for years in public housing.”

We read the rest of the story, but everything we need to know about the case was right there in those first thirty words. But in case the sentence was so long and complex that you didn’t understand it, please allow us to summarize.

Illegal alien. Ordered deported. Never left. Lives in public housing.

The Associated Press goes on to call her a “symbol in the immigration debate.” But we don’t understand how any rational human being can figure out what the debate’s about.

Sadly, the rest of Auntie Zeituni’s family appears to be in the same perilous financial condition. Her nephew, the most successful member of her family, also lives in public housing in the Washington, DC area.
