Hello-ello-ello (insert echo sound effect)! Bill Clinton speaks at half-filled Detroit high school gym

by editor on October 25, 2010

Is this just another sign that the Democrats are in trouble? For god’s sake, man, when Bill Clinton can’t fill a high school gym in a Democrat stronghold, times are tough.

There was a time when Bill Clinton could fill arenas even larger than his ego

The Detroitistan News has the Cliff Notes:

Clinton, who campaigned in the battleground state of Florida earlier this week, is popular in Detroit and trying to fire up the party base in Michigan today with stops today in Detroit, Ann Arbor and Battle Creek.

But he began his speech just before 3 p.m. in a high school gym that was less than half full. The appearance was in support of gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero, shown in most polls to be trailing Republican candidate Rick Snyder by 20 percentage points.

The echos in the nearly-empty gym reverberated almost as loudly as the ones in Joe Biden’s head.

Only a Democrat as shameless as Clinton could go to Michigan and ask Michiganders to vote Democrat once again; vote for continued economic collapse, more taxes, more union bail-outs. The Democrats wrecked Michigan. They started by destroying Detroit, spread the ruination to the surrounding suburbs and, finally, the crippled rest of the state.

Industry is leaving Michigan, retirees are leaving Michigan (the irony is that many of the fleeing retirees are former union members), the college educated
and middle class are leaving Michigan. Soon only privleged union members
and people on welfare will live there. A dead state populated by brain dead voters.

Ah yes, if Slick Willy can’t rally the troops then that pretty much says it all.

Any voter in Michigan who still votes democrat is a moron. All the money that can be gifted to the AFL/CIO, Teamsters, and UAW has been given already-there is no more taxpayer money to give to the dieing unions. So, now that they have their 400 billion to save their pensions-they should stop voting for the party that is going to deliver all of their jobs to foreign countries……but alas, they are all too effing stupid to see the forest for the trees….all the dough that barry gave their unions is being given right back to barry and his cohorts in the form of campaign contributions, or to pay for country club memberships for union brass.
IDIOTS.
For the rest of you Michiganders-shame on you for destroying Michigan. Shame on you for allowing your elected leaders to chase every viable business from your once great state.
When I was a kid, Detroit was booming. We used to love to go watch boat races on the river-we loved the zoo, we loved it there…trains everywhere, stuff being built everywhere….now, save for the casinos downtown, the whole place is empty. shame on you Michigan voters for chasing all of us away!

@Matthew – not all of we Michiganders are Democrats and, like the 48 percent who voted against Obama, do not “like” or support our elected demo-lib leaders. I’ve spent most of my life here and am saddened and angered by what has happened to both Detroit and the State of Michigan.

I recall “Soulman Young” telling white people to go to the other side of 8mile road and that Detroit was a “black city”. I had 2 voilent incidents while working in the city (which chargers 1.5 percent tax on residents and 1.5 percent for the ‘priviledge’ of working in Detroit).

Detroit has not had a Republican major since the 1960’s and guess what – it’s been downhill ever since.

I concur with many of your feelings Matthew and many of we Michiganders are fighting hard to boot Dinglell and ensure the next governor will not be another tax-and-spend dumb dem.
