California’s next frontier in fighting climate change: your kitchen stove Great when the power goes off. Want coffee? Go around the corner to the coffee shop and oops, their power is out too.

OK, the main issue is, how does Kalifornia generate it’s electricity now?
Everything I have seen points to the fact that they want to go 100% renewable (solar, wind, etc) which at this point only covers a little less than 22% of it’s needs.
https://www.energy.ca.gov/renewables/
As of 2010, they imported 25% of their electricity, and over 60% comes from natural gas.
I don’t see them ever being able to go totally green/renewable. As it is, they keep having to have rolling brown/blackouts to not blow out the grid. If they go total electric, they will have to completely rebuild their power grid, or everything will collapse. There’s no way for them to charge up all their electric cars, cook on electric appliances, and run all the other electric powered items in the state without a complete overhaul of the grid.
Then. once the whole state is total electric, watch the rates blow through the roof!

The next big innovation in Kalifornia to generate electricity will be monkey’s ridding tricycles with little generators attached….

California is so stupid it’s not even funny anymore. I just read an article about how California imports a greater percentage of its electricity than any other state, so the whole notion of going electric is hypocritical in the extreme. They can’t produce anywhere near the electricity they use now, so where do they come off mandating more use? This blatant dysfunctionality is everywhere. Remember the phony drought that wasn’t really a drought at all but rather the state being too stupid to build new reservoirs to husband the water they got in flush years? Well here we are in a flush year and they haven’t built any new reservoirs so all that water coming out of the Sierras this summer is going to flow straight into the ocean… and next year the morons will be mandating water restrictions again and whining about Global Warming-caused drought.

That’s called progressive planning.
They plan on having shortages that they will never work to abate, because they’re too busy giving away free shit to people that make no contribution to anything except for voting to get more free shit.
