“Cash for Clunkers” was bad for Gaia and other living things. Mandated shredding of cars instead of recycling. Also, it dried up the used car supply for those who needed affordable transportation but couldn’t afford a new car. “It’s obvious what we need here, and that’s for Congress to pass a law against unintended consequences.” Right after they repeal the Law of Gravity.

Perfect example of planned obsolescence, one of many of Corporate Greed’s tactics.

Your average Obama voter doesn’t even remember this happening or will think it was something Bush did and Obama is getting blamed for.

C for C only had to do with pulling retail car sales forward thus helping the UAW and other labor unions. The consequences were only a surprise to economic illiterates.

And very short lived, causing a slump in sales afterward.

Artificial market manipulation. Isn’t that against the law?

“Cash for Clunkers” worked perfectly. You just have to assume it had nothing to do with the environment or helping poor people and everything to do with vote buying and giving the Democrat operative media a chance to whip the Republican opposition. We need to give these people more credit. As political gangsters, they rock.

Not to mention that I personally know a German national and a Pakistani national that took advantage of it, so even non citizens got the tax break.
Too bad they were not too smart and bought a Chevy Aveo!
