Sanity alert! Chris Matthews shows begrudging appreciation for Tea Party

by editor on September 19, 2010

Chris Matthews obviously needs help. He goes from rabid raging one night to being completely lucid the next night.

Last week the MSNBC host demonstrated one of his more lucid moments when he delivered this rational and impassioned message during his “Let Me Finish” segment:

Just where do you think this explosion of voter anger we saw last night in Delaware and have seen growing in voters in Pennsylvania, Florida, Utah, Nevada, Kentucky, Colorado, Alaska and just about every poll across the country is going to take us.

Last night, as the dust began to clear, I heard progressive glee that the anger was on the verge of burning itself out, that the victory of Christine O’Donnell in Delaware and like that of Sharon Angel in Nevada was throwing away the election. How could voters in the general election go so far as to elect one of these candidates that the angry primary voters had kicked up.

I suppose I had my eyes on something different. While others were seeing dead people that defeated Mike Castle who was supposed to be so strong this November, I saw the strength of the flames that consumed him and will consume many others in this rapidly approaching election night.

I’ve waited all my adult life for an election in which voters have the fire to reach up and burn those who’ve been running the show for decades. But I didn’t know it would come from the right and the center.

2010 could be the first year in modern times when being in office and part of Washington is the worst possible credential when facing voters.

I don’t know how far the fire will burn. Based upon last night’s returns, I expect it has a long way to go. It could topple the House and, yes, the U.S. Senate. It could bring the defeat of people who feel even now that they are not in danger. It could produce an election night spectacle of name brand politicians stand before stunned supporters saying their careers are kaput.

Why is this happening? Because this economic system is failing to produce the security and opportunity people have come to expect in this country. And in this middle class country, the middle class is scared and when people are scared they get angry. They sense a rot at the top and they’re ready to chop it off.

If the plan of those in power is to raise a ton of cash and run nasty TV ads saying, “You can’t vote for this new person, that he or she is flawed,” I suspect the voter will say, “Are you tell me I have no choice but to vote for you? Are you saying that I, this little voter out there, dare not take a chance on someone who has not yet let me down as you have? If that’s what you’re telling me, that I have no choice, well, Mr. Big Stuff, you just have to wait. Stay up late election night and see what I have done.”

Chris Matthews. Watch him soon, before the Thoraine wears off.

He will get rabid soon enough. He always does. It is possible to be right sometimes though.

Incumbents in BOTH Parties are finally waking up to the fact that their jobs are on the line due to the rise of non-partisan Tea Party candidates, and they are getting worried. Rats are abandoning ship, tunes are being changed, fingers are being pointed, backs are being stabbed, wind-direction is being closely monitored.

Sadly, whoever is elected to Congress will have the unenviable job of trying to undo or repair the Socialist damage caused by the various preceding and current administrations. At this point I don’t know if that will be possible, given the current presidents(?) mind-set and policies, Democrat/Socialist obstruction and continued vitreol from the MSM.

Note to Chris: Welcome back to the Land of the Free. Very insightful comments, certainly on-target. Don’t stay a stranger to reality and truth. Sometimes they’re harsh, but they’re still the best course and they’ll win in the end.

And thank you Chris for helping to wake up hard working Americans to what is happening to their country. They see the things that nutcase loons like you spew on the tube and figure it is time to wake up and get involved. Thanks again.

This piece of shit is just trying to save his own skin. Burn in Hell, Chris, you elitist piece of condescending shit. Somewhere in DC there is a sad looking lamp post that would look much brighter with your fat ass swinging from it.

He See’s his career dissipation light flashing, he knows after November the need for bitter hateful insane liberal media people will drop like obama’s poll numbers

…actually, much like conservative talk radio, the money’s in being the opposition to whoever’s in power. The coming rout in November signals the first stop of the gravy train for the likes of him.

The need for bitter hateful insane liberal people, however, will drop. I hope. Nothing like getting a severe political spanking as a direct result of legislation they forced upon the public. Unfortunately, libs have a seemingly unlimited capability of drawing the wrong lessons from their beatings.

The thing I think he is doing is positioning himself to cash in on a Democrat version of the Tea Party. I don’t think he’s as stupid as he looks — I think everything he’s done so far is an act, calculated for maximum effect amongst his audience, playing to the crowd if you will.

Yes, he gets out of control and says some truly idiotic things — but I think that he is aping what libs see as conservative methods, not understanding that, for example, when Levin is blowing his fuse, it’s because of actual injustice, and not empty hyperbole. That, and Matthews’ audience, for the most part, *believes* those idiotic things.

As much as the Democrat talking heads hate the likes of Rush, they’d put on his shoes in a heartbeat. If they found a way, they’d ride it all the way.

The $24,000 question will be: Will he be pushing the Democrat party to stop tinkering with socialism, or just push it over the cliff? It can go either way. Right now, his party is SIABN (Socialists In All But Name). Either they ought to grow a pair (I think Hillary and Maddow are trying) and admit it, or move to the center. This socialist experiment with health care is going to be their own worst nightmare. The most intelligent thing a regular democrat can do is blame it all on the political class and repeal it.

If they do that, and purge the likes of John Kerry et al, then our political direction can take a sharp turn away from this socialist crap.

Interesting point about the looney’s getting their “version of the Tea Party.” I hope they do. When they have a rally somewhere it will obviously be a case where destruction, looting, and litter will be everywhere. (Totally opposite of Tea Party gatherings.)This will provide yet more evidence for the realistic normal people to see the left for what it really is.
Of course the media pukes (pardon the redundancy) will slobber all over themselves in support of their party. (They could call it the Tea Baggee Party) MOre evidence for the real slow learners to see the media bias.

No doubt. Just because they want the popularity doesn’t mean they’ll understand the actual sentiment. Reminds me of the scene where Les Nessmann in WKRP shows that he *does* understand the meaning of ‘plagiarism’.

That show kicked ass on so many levels. Very funny, that was TV.

re-reading your comment, and a naming suggestion for the democrat version of the tea party just popped into my head.

The douche-bag party.

Now, I know I have gone through the looking glass. All’s I can say is that it takes some pretty damned good acid to make ol’ LeftBall make sense.
