Chris Matthews: Weinergate is no big deal, but those Republican sex scandals are horrible

by editor on June 8, 2011

Hypocrisy, thy name is Chris Matthews. In this video clip the MSNBC host downplays Anthony Weiner’s recent, shall we say, indiscretions. To summarize Matthews’ position: Hey, Weiner didn’t get caught with another woman. This is nothing more than high school level embarrassment. A mere trifle. Nothing to see here. Move on.

Well, may we suggest that you don’t move on too quickly. Because we’ve found a couple other video clips where Matthews seems absolutely horrified by the sexual hijinks of Republicans Mark Foley, Larry Craig and David Vitter.

First, here’s Matthews downplaying Weinergate:

The video clip above makes it clear that Chris thinks it’s no big deal that Anthony Weiner sent a photo of his weiner to a young man, but in the following clip he is horrified that Mark Foley asked young men to come to his apartment for a drink. He actually compares it to the last days of the Roman Empire.

And here’s Matthews calling for the heads of Senators Larry Craig and David Vitter.

We’d say Matthews is a hypocrite, but he’s on MSNBC so that’s probably not necessary.

1. The Writer of this article says Weiner sent pictures to a man, but that’s not true. It was a woman.

2. Chris Matthews is right. If you don’t think there’s a significant difference between flirting with a woman on the internet, and soliciting sex from a 16 year old boy who works for you, then you need to have your head examined.

Weiner sent flirty tweets to an adult woman three time-zones away. No crime was committed and nophysical contact was involved or even SOUGHT.
Vs
Mark Foley asked a 16-year-old boy for sex. Not just any boy, but a congressional page. He then tampered with evidence to cover it up. Several other young men working for congress have claimed to have actual sexual relations with Foley. These are all actual crimes. Also, Foley was an outspoken Anti-Homosexual at the time.
Larry Craig tried to solicit sex from a man in an airport restroom. Definitely a crime, not to mention completely perverse.
David Vitter had sex with several prostitutes. Definitely a crime, thought not a big deal to me since he was honest about it.

True – Weiner lied in the beginning, but it was to the tabloid media, not a congressional hearing or court. This was a personal matter between him, the woman on twitter, and his wife – none of our business. I wouldn’t expect him to be fully truthful under these circumstances

Are you a conservative? Live in a rural area? A Christian? Some or all of the above? Well Chrissy has a message for you:

“If [Weiner] stays, [Democrats] never get the leadership [in the House] back. They never get the speakership back. Because the people in the rural areas of this country who are Christian, conservative, culturally – you can say ‘backward’ if you want – they don’t like this stuff.”

Examiner.com MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: Rural Christian conservatives are ‘backward’ – Spokane Conservative | Examiner.com http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-spokane/msnbc-s-chris-matthews-rural-christian-conservatives-are-backward#ixzz1P9jyF3zZ
http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-spokane/msnbc-s-chris-matthews-rural-christian-conservatives-are-backward

So immoral and disgusting behavior like electronically flashing many women who DID NOT ask to see Weiner’s weiner… lying to his wife, the world and his constituents… all of that is forward and those that do not like it are backwards.

Nice… very nice. Yet another explanation why Chrissy does so bad in the ratings.

“If [Weiner] stays, [Democrats] never get the leadership [in the House] back. They never get the speakership back.”

Which is exactly why Republicans should NOT be calling for his resignation.

The biggest difference I see between them is these other cats didn’t get on national tv and deny that a pic sent nationally isn’t them when it is. They also didn’t have such a hot wife that’s pregnant. Edwards screwed the pooch and his wife died, when did a repub do something so abhorrent?

I told an old liberal one time that the difference between Republicans and Democrats is that “We take out our trash you reelect yours.”

Sven Waring

Sir!
I beg to differ–as I do often with you Repelicans. President Bill Clinton was noted for taking out the trash AND getting re-elected.
I’m voting Weiner-Frank in 2012!

Sir!
Hope you are being sarcastic. But, if your not……
I could have responded to several previous comments, but you brought up Bill Clinton, so you drew the short straw. That’s Life.

Bill Clinton was noted for passing trash, (NAFTA, GAT) and for going out with trash, ML to mention just one of many. Also for raping the Social Security fund to falsely balance the federal budget and the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act. Hell of a legacy!
The difference between modern, Democrats and Republicans. Just the opposite sides of the Military/Banking/Pharmaceutical/Media/Industrial Complex coin. To the Democrats, the end justifies the means and to the Republicans, the means justify the end. However the ‘End’ in both cases is the same result, the NWO.
Now to the difference between modern, Conservatives and Liberals. The conservatives want to maintain the status quo, the good ole boys club, and the liberals, the reason Chris Mathews isn’t upset with the little prick, is because the liberals are hedonists, if it feels good, its ok by them, no morals, no ethics, just self gratification.

Oh, and by the way, go ahead and vote for Weiner-Frank in 2012 since they are synonymous, both are dickheads and neither one will be in the race. Better you waste your vote on them, than to vote for the O’butthead and continue this countries downward spiral and complete take over by the NWO shills.

Ok, rant over. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program. Have a nice day!

What’s really interesting here is that some, not all (yet), liberal politicians are beginning to see the extent of the damage this Weiner cretin has done to their party’s razzle dazzle. They’re calling for his head only because the know that if he doesn’t walk the plank now, they’ll be swimming ashore later!

A Guy sitting in the dark “sexting” (over a three year period) is way more freaky than a psychical affair.
Spill a glass of water behind his desk it’d probably spout DNA. Ewww

No $hit guys, I mean looking at other kinds of shenanigans, look at what Charlie Rangel has gotten away with this year alone.

Charlie Rangel’s like the funny, doddering old uncle at family reunions. He’s become an unfunny cartoon. I’ve wanted to punch Weiner in the face since the first word I ever heard come out of his mouth. There is no redeeming quality about the guy.

perlcat

No, Charlie’s Rangel is like the uncle at the family reunion that can’t legally approach within 100 yards of a school, but does anyway.

Ethically speaking, he’s a teflon-coated train wreck, and so it only stands to reason that he’d counsel Weiner — not on how to behave ethically and avoid undeserved ethics charges, but on how to avoid ethics charges that he does so richly deserve.

Of course Chris see’s no problem with Weiner’s behavior just like that of Bill Clinton. The higher standard is only for conservatives not liberals.

Has any one else noted that the NAGs have said nothing? At least Tim Kaine is calling for him to go. It seems that one dem actually does see what a cad this one is.

I just wish the story would have been broken about Mid September of 12. Turn about fair play. This just gives Nancy and Harry time to spin the story line and let Anthony say he has bee rehabilitated

Weiner’s Favorite Song: “Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places”

Maybe Weiner just had a tingling feeling in his leg. Sounds like Chris Matthews has a tingling sensation in his Weiner.

All those women reporting his scandalous Tweets and X Rated pictures are a part of “A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy”.

Raise your hand class. Who thought that Matthews would be anything but a deplorable arrogant hypocrite on this topic?

Let’s see the hands, get them high where we can count them.

I’ll be with you in a couple. Got one hand on my cell phone and the other on my.., um.., er,…REPRESENTATIVE. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

On “Hardball”, Republican farts exacerbate global warming but Democrat farts are good for the environment because they inspire unicorns to mate. And Debbie Wasserman Schultz is Albert Einstein in a dress. ‘Nuff said.

danybhoy

Never, EVER, compare Debbie Wassermann-Schultz to Albert Einstein. I get your point, but 1 was a genius, & the other…uhm…maybe 1 of the dumbest people I’ve ever seen on the national political scene.

Besides, Einstein deserves better.

He was being facetious. But I agree, even in the realm of satire, some things are off-limits.

Sorry, I meant that in the alternative universe of Hardball and MSNBC, DWS was Einstein-like, not in the one everyone else inhabits. Although DWS herself is empirical proof of the Theory of Relativity: when she’s talking, time does seem to move v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, as Einstein predicted would happen when one is in the neighborhood of extremely dense objects.

I love it. Joy Behar said a year or two ago that it was a good thing that Tiger Woods never ran on morals on his public life… basically to state that he would be deserving of great derision from liberals. However, since he never said he was a moral man, liberals can leave him alone.

The same is happening here. Liberals in general do not run on morals and overall they despise judgement so liberals give each other a pass. However when a conservative messes up liberals are now more than capable to exercise judgement on them and to mock them. It is just great. Liberals can do whatever they like even murder someone and get away with it because they NEVER SAID they were good people. How great…

Well said, Kimmy. Liberals proved that they have NO moral standards the minute they defended Weiner and denied their hypocrisy. If they were to admit the double standard, then at least they would acknowledge that Weiner’s behavior is deviant.

Mathews is still trying to figure out how to take pictures of his balls with a cellphone while masturbating because using a cam is not “sporty”

David Bishop

Honestly, you can lament all day about this, but the end-truth is life is not fair. Equal rights are not equal. And conservatives will always have an uphill battle to fight.

KimmyQueen

Conservatives must be always on the alert. That is very true.

Does a hypocrite working for a hypocritical organization make it twice as bad or does the effect multiply?

perlcat

Well, if he’s repeating news about a hypocrite, I believe that it does descend into a singularity of hypocrisy. LHC ain’t got nothing on Chrissy.

It grows exponentially.

Chrissy glosses over the real problem at the beginning of his spiel: the ten days of blatant lying, which ended only when the shills of the MSM caught on. Politically, his big sin to fellow Progressives was turning himself(and by extension, all of them) into laughingstocks. I hope he hangs on to his office doggedly, until the Party imposes Chicago sanctions and he vanishes forever.

Beat me to it. Now also add in that the Weiner used his position to try to ruin a private citizen and we have the complete picture. Shit like this is why I say “Scratch a liberal/progressive/democrat, find a fascist.”

The man abused his position of power and really should be tarred and feathered. At the very least I hope Breitbart slaps him with a tens of millions libel suit. Until these assholes start paying a price for their abuse of the citizenry it will continue.

Matthews may have gotten another tingle up his leg over Weinergate.

I bet he’s upset because he wasn’t in the Twitter loop for the porny pony that Weiner tweeted to Ms. What’s Her Name!

The problem for Chris Matthews is HE is not a big deal. He does’nt matter anymore, not that he ever did, & I’m not sure he knows it. At least until he looks at the ratings.
