Dead Democrat wins state senate seat in California

by editor on November 5, 2010

We’ve heard of local candidates being propped up by state parties, but this one sounds like Weekend at Bernie’s.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, deceased candidate, Democrat Jenny Oropeza, defeated Republican John Stammreich in the race for State Senate in the 28th district.

Oropeza, 53, died on Oct. 20. Because her death was within 10 days of the election, her name remained on the ballot.

The governor now has two weeks to declare her seat empty, and schedule a special election within three to four months. This allows Democrats a chance to find a new candidate to run for Oropeza’s seat.

A week after her death, Democrats sent out mailers to residents, calling for voters to still reelect Oropeza. The mailers featured Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Democratic Party general counsel Martha Escutia.

Naturally, this district, which encompasses parts of Los Angeles and Long Beach, is overwhelmingly Democrat.

Democrats are often accused of turning out the dead vote, but this is one of the rare times when they’re able to vote for one of their peers.

They’ve been sending brain dead people to Washington for decades. Are you really surprised at this?

This is disgusting… I am surprised Fox News is not all over this. This IS corruption to the nth degree. And I got to say definetly not all, but Californians in general ARE stupid.

Come on, Kimmy, don’t lump me in with the rest of them. I voted against almost everyone and every thing that won in this election. I tried. Can you forgive me for living here if I promise to leave soon?

Why yes of course as long as you do leave! LOL

California is a mess now and I hope that all the good people leave soon. Once all the good people and businesses leave I assure you they will yell for changes. It is on the backs of the responsible people that the rest feel secure in indulging their liberal ideologies. It is disgusting and as long as the responsible people stay and continue to pay those taxes there would be no changes.

Lots of people will leave CA behind soon, & they should. People who produce, people who create jobs, who create wealth, people who pay taxes, & people who understand what America is about. Many of them will leave, & they should leave, & take their buisinesses with them.

CA as of now is in real trouble, & is now in the hands of the people who have destroyed this once great state. Jerry Brown cleared the way all those years ago for the unionization of the public sector, which is bleeding CA dry. Also, the political class wants to turn CA into a sancutary state. The illegals who take advantage of that will suck CA dry via social services, crime, schools, & all the other loopholes they can use.

The trick will be to deny CA the bailout they will be seeking when they come to the feds with their hand out. Let it burn.

Sadly California is dead too. Governor Moonbean will preside over the funeral rites.

Albuquerque is looking better all the time. I’m thinking of moving right around March.

However, he can still vote.

Those mailers had no mention that Oropeza was dead. They accused her Republican opponent of “taking advantage” of her “tragic illness”, like she had cancer or something.

The mailers also made reference to being able to “thoughtfully consider” their candidate…as in, “There will be a special election later that will cost taxpayers a whole bunch of money so you can elect a new Democrat to this post”.

I’d rather they were all dead. What a nice topic, we can wish them all dead and not get investigated…

Will those damned donks stop at *nothing*?!?! Not satisfied with just *voting* while dead, they gotta hold office while dead, too?

If its the first part of a 10 step improvement plan, I say got for it! The rotting corpse will be less offensive than the living person was.

Will they prop up the corpse in the halls of Congress, so it can vote? And how do we know which way it’s voting? Oh, right. The wrong way. It’s a Democrat.
