His first pet peeve, Brian reveals in an article he penned for Spoon University, is people failing to specify what size they want. Want to drive a Starbucks barista crazy? Tell them you want a medium. When they say you mean a grande? Answer yes a medium. Sometimes this can go on for quite awhile.
His second gripe must surely be a constant issue – people being on their phones while they’re ordering. Well we hate to do it, but we have to agree with him on this one. People need to put their cell phones down for a lot of other things, too. Like walking and driving.
Next up? Dumping the top few glugs of coffee into the bin before leaving, so that milk or cream can be added. Brian advises simply asking for some room to be left at the top. Sorry Brian but we constantly ask for room at the top and it’s constantly ignored by your fellow genius baristas, so we dump some coffee in the garbage bag. Maybe everyone should start dumping it on the counter.
