William Boyland Jr. is a five-term member of the New York State Assembly.
On one hand, he’s a liberal Democrat which would normally be points against him. On the other hand, we consider him to be a role model for all politicians.
The New York Daily News explains what we mean:
Boyland, who pleaded not guilty in April to federal charges that he did political favors for Brookdale University Hospital in exchange for a consulting gig, skipped 20 of the Assembly’s 60 sessions this year, attendance records show.
Boyland (D-Brownsville), also was the only lawmaker in either the Senate or Assembly who did not introduce a single bill.
We need more Democrats like Billy Boyland – guys who don’t introduce an endless series of bills and designed solely to waste our hard-earned money. Guys who believe that serving in the legislature should be a part-time job. Guys who don’t jump in front of every camera they see.
Billy Boyland, you may be a crook and you may be a Democrat (and we may be redundant), but we salute you.
