What pisses me off in all this insane, drunken spending is that way back in the early ’70s we cancelled the Apollo Program due to cost and settled for a pathetic low-Earth-orbit space program.

Why is it that space exploration is the ONLY time in the history of America when we’ve said, “Sorry, noble though it is, we can’t afford that”?

Look at your local school district, what’s the first thing they cut when facing a budget crisis? Bloated salaries, healthcare costs or pensions? Sports and bus service, hit ’em where it hurts.

Wrong. The first thing eliminated is the arts program. Art, band, choral groups. THe ones that have been proven to positively affect academics.

Because it’s the only thing that made actual sense?

Sad but true. Government spending money on studies detailing why raccoons raid trash cans or the sex lives of Chinese prostitutes is OK and serves the public. Exploring space and discovering new things, not so much.

As for the debt ceiling, Timmy shouldn’t worry – it does not exist. There is no spending level that the politicians will not exceed.

As FDR explained smarmily: “We owe it to ourselves.”

Is he still around? I thought he quit, was fired, something and is no longer around to destroy our economy further.

Don’t be foolish, he’s got tenure. That means he can never be fired.

Uhhh. Tenure is for academic positions. Theoretically he CAN be fired frim a government job. Not that its likely.

Doubtful that anything could pound common sense into that head.
