Inflation: Not as low as we’ve been told. CPI is up 3.1% but everyday prices are up 8% according to the American Institute for Economic Research. Why? The CPI includes the price of durable goods like houses, furniture, appliances, cars, computers, etc. The AIER focuses on consumables and services – food, gas, child care, medicine, phone and cable service and household products. Inflation, GDP, unemployment – none of the “official” numbers seem to make sense these days. Wonder why?
