Amid all the truly bizarre excuses that left wingers have offered up to explain the failures of The Greatest President In History, a website called Newshounds has jumped out in front of the pack.
Existing, apparently, to “watch FOX so you don’t have to,” the website finds anything and everything Fox related vile and evil and every other combination of those four letters. They hope that in 2010 President Obama “Will Do A Better Job Dealing With Fox News”.
They point out that an article in New Yorker contained “an admission that one of the reasons Sarah Palin’s ‘death panel’ remark was able to take hold is that the White House thought it too idiotic to deal with. One imagines they won’t be making that same mistake going forward.”
The article goes on to say “Let’s hope so. I’d argue that most, if not all, of Obama’s stumbling blocks last year were at least partly a by-product of his failure to adequately address the right-wing masters of media messaging.”
Really? All of those gaffes, blunders and downright disasters over the course of the last 12 months were because Obama didn’t attack Fox News enough?
Well, there’s hope (and maybe even some change) for the folks at Newshounds.
Dan Pfeiffer, the guy who replaced Anita Dunn as White House Communications Director and Official Fox News Basher, has apparently learned his job well, stating in an interview with the New York Times that, “I have the same view of Fox that Anita [Dunn] had, which is that Fox is not a traditional news organization. They have a point of view. That point of view pervades the entire network both the opinion shows, like Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, but also through the newscasts during the day.” The Times added that “Pfeiffer also said that the White House doesn’t ‘feel an obligation to treat them like we would treat a CNN or an ABC or an NBC or a traditional news organization’ but will have officials appear on the network sometime.”
You go, Dan. With a little hard work, you may raise Fox News’ ratings even higher than Dunn did.
And we’re guessing that would make some heads explode at Newshounds.
