Rush’s ratings skyrocket. Thanks, President Obama!

Conservative talk radio is toasting with champagne, but lib talk radio is just plain toast.

Conservative talk radio is toasting with champagne, but lib talk radio is just plain toast.

The more President Obama and the Democrats talk about talk radio titan Rush Limbaugh, the higher his ratings go. And he’s taking all conservative talk radio along for a very exciting ride.

Radio insiders expected the ratings to show growth with a Democrat in the White House. But the actual numbers are exploding far beyond anyone’s expectations.

Brian Maloney’s Radio Equalizer is a great site if you’re interested in an insider’s view of talk radio. Here’s how he reports the most recent results in the nation’s top markets:

In New York City, WABC has experienced huge gains during Rush’s noon- 3pm timeslot: from 4.6 to 6.7 overall (12 and older) share, good for first place overall in the nation’s largest market. Rush’s Big Apple listenership is now estimated at 693,000.

In the second-largest market, Los Angeles, KFI-AM has surged into the number one position (all listeners 12 and older) from 9am to noon, with 618,000 listeners, a 4.6 to 6.0 audience share increase over three months and an even bigger males 35-64 (4.6 to 6.3) move, to take first place there as well.

Chicago, saw another huge move, with Rush affiliate WLS also taking first place during his timeslot (12 and older), from 5.2 share to 6.9 and a total local listenership of 396,700 in the third-largest market.

KSFO / San Francisco saw similar results, despite the extreme-left bent of the Bay Area: 4.7 to 6.0 share, now ranking second overall and with men aged 35-64. Total audience: 346,000.

In Dallas – Fort Worth, 4.8 to 6.4 men 35-64 and fourth overall (12+), 3.5 to 4.5. Cumulative audience: 250,000.

Houston’s results were truly blockbuster: 6.0 to 9.8 overall, ranking number one with a bullet and audience of 382,300. Men 35-64: number one again, from 8.6 to 12.2 over three months. Adults 25-54: first place, 4.6 to 8.7. Women 25-54: 3.7 to 8.3 again good for a top ranking.

DC’s WMAL also saw Rush-related growth: 4.1 to 6.7, good for third overall and an audience of 155,300. Men 35-64: number one with a staggering 6.4 to 13.4 move.

In Atlanta, Rush has helped WGST fend off an enormous competitor, WSB-AM, with a similar 4.0 to 6.2 upward move, good for fifth place overall and a total audience of 473,500. The results are better in the male 35-64 demographic, surging from 5.5 to 8.0 share.

Bucking Detroit’s recent Democratic voting trend, Rush’s performance on WJR-AM has been more significant than ever, moving into first place with a 5.8 to 9.6 jump. Men 35-64: number one and 11.6 share. Total audience: 253,000.

Hey, turn down that conservative talk radio show for a second. Hear that dull thud? That’s the sound of lib talk radio hosts pounding their heads against the wall.

Feel the same Acey. Ayers, Jones, Wright! Three strikes your out. Libs are running scared. Unions feel betrayed. Public Option coming out of BO’s mouth next week. Older Americas scared and rightfully so. Let me read these comments again from the libs: “we have the conservatives and Limbaugh just were we want them”. First place, double audience! Thank you we will take it.

I am a FORMER Obama support and now I guess a FORMER liberal. I ask for everyone’s forgiveness for my mistakes. I will no longer support Obama. He has now shown his true colors and I among several members of my family and friends will no longer support him or the democratic party. We are ashamed that we ever did.

What is utterly hysterical about this is that liberals WANT people to listen to Limbaugh. Limbaugh’s ratings are even below Bush’s as a result. When you take out conservatives Limbaugh is one of the most loathed people in America. At the same time, Obama and the Dems popularity went UP. Rush has got you idiots right where he wants you. And he is laughing all the way to the bank.

Long live Rush “Party Before Country” Limbaugh as head of the GOP. This is the gift that keeps on giving.

The right wing media is actually a good campaign tool for the Democrats in the coming November elections. The Dems will just campaign on truth and revealing the consequences of voting Republican by showing their history, what they did to the debt, their preferencial treatment of big business and the wealthy, and efforts to take away any advantages of the common man. There is only one poll that truly counts.

Wel, Tony,l when you decide to learn the true history of the left, I recomend that you read “Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning” written by Jonah Goldberg. Perhaps then you will know the consequences of voting for democrats and for certain republicans. What you need to understand is that what is happening in America today isnt about democrates vs rebulicans, it really isn’t even left vs right. This is about individual rights vs human rights; private property vs collectivism; personal responsibility vs social justice; freedom vs government control. The reason liberal talk shows have such a small audience is because their message doen’t resonate with listeners. I for one am tired of being told that it is society’s fault for crime, poverty, this issue or that issue. It comes down to personal choice and personal responsibility. Am I my brother’s keeper? YES! but my job as keeper is to make sure my brother accepts his own personal responsibility for the choices he makes and behavior he employes, not to bail him out and in essence reward him for making said bad choices and behaviors he enacts. this only re-enforces poor decission making.

Yep, Eric. That’s how it is, because nobody really wants to listen to liberals so they lose in the market of free ideas. Hence why Err America went bankrupt.

AtomicLibSmasher – “Well, the fact that Rush is getting higher ratings is better for us because it’ll show people how the Republican party is!”
I’d like to believe that that’s what the libs are saying. In truth they really KNOW that if more people listen to Rush, they’ll become more conservative and starting voting against them. That’s why, as Tom suggests, they need to “level the playing field” with the “Fairness” Doctrine or whatever.

Man, this trend is so unfair to Lib radio. Perhaps we should have a law passed to even the playing field.

Indeed, the right wing radio gets high ranting since there are so few liberal talk shows, proving that truth and reason do not sell commerical times. Ranting, ravings, and controversy sell in this country. I think many people are like me and tune in now and then to hear what these extremists are up to – what their latest lie is and who they are berating today with their name calling. Nothing of substance is ever offered – other than dismantling our government and creating anarchy. But they must feel very comfortable with their mega millions and offshore bank accounts and mansions. It’s just too bad that we cannot get truly balanced news and information without a damned political spin. Too many people are focused on short lived excitement rather than a long term plan for our future.

I love how the libs are saying “Well, the fact that Rush is getting higher ratings is better for us because it’ll show people how the Republican party is!” Thing is, they think by exposing more listeners to Limbaugh that somehow they will gain more votes, but it’s more likely that a new listener will go “Hmm, I never thought of it that way” and be more likely to vote conservative.
